  • Kruskal-Wallis, Friedman and Mood nonparametric tests applied to business
           decision making

    • Authors: Carlos Ernesto Flores Tapia, Karla Lissette Flores Cevallos
Abstract: The post COVID-19 crisis scenario demands continuous improvement in the quality of the products and services offered, supported by administrative and statistical tools that optimize business decision-making. In this research, three non-parametric statistical tests -Kruskal-Wallis, Friedman and Mood's median- are applied to three case studies in order to test the hypotheses posed, respectively: whether the distributions of the populations of the units sold by a distribution company are equal for three types of inputs, whether the stress levels differ or not for three types of work modalities in an automobile commercialization company and whether the medians of production yields in an agricultural company are equal or not for four varieties of fruit.  The solution is sought using standard procedures for each of the nonparametric tests.

private educational institutions in the city of Loja, Ecuador

    • Authors: Jorge Luis Lopez-Lapo, Silvana Elizabeth Hernández Ocampo, Neusa Cecilia Cueva Jiménez, Maritza Jackeline Peña Vélez, Germania del Pilar Sarmiento Castillo
Abstract: Financial education is a process through which people obtain greater knowledge about financial products and services. The objective of this research is to measure the level of financial education of "centennials" in public and private educational institutions in the city of Loja. The methodology used is of an exploratory-descriptive type, for the collection of information a survey based on the PISA test was used, which was applied to 360 students from 11 institutions of the public and private system, aged between 14 and 18 years old. The results show that the financial knowledge of the students is located at level 4 according to the PISA performance levels and that men have greater financial knowledge in relation to women, so it is necessary to implement financial education programs that allow students to reduce risk and minimize errors in decision making by improving their basic financial knowledge.

  • Pilot diagnostic study of a Facility Management System according to the
ISO 41001 standard in Spanish hospitals

    • Authors: Manuel Madroñal-Ortiz, Diego Cuartas-Ramírez, Ibet Patricia Bustamante-Correa, Marisol Osorio
Abstract: Healthcare institutions lacked tools to evaluate existing management systems linked to support activities and services aligned to the Facility Management discipline. The publication of the ISO 41001 standard has provided the structure and content for the establishment of this type of management systems. The authors of this paper developed the first version of a diagnostic tool for a Facility Management system in the health sector and sought to test it in hospitals familiar with ISO management system audits. Eleven members of Spanish hospitals were selected for two questionnaires and an interview. Subsequently, a quantitative analysis of the questionnaires was carried out to obtain the average of the responses on a maturity scale of Facility Management activities and, on the other hand, a qualitative analysis of the interview responses. The results showed that the hospitals interviewed have an intermediate level according to the systems maturity scale; however, the interviewees stated that this tool does not support objective answers.

  • "Energize my business": towards a social appropriation of solar

    • Authors: Andrea Medina Téllez Girón, Karla G. Cedano Villavicencio
Abstract: This article proposes a strategy for social appropriation of solar technology through a workshop called "Energize my business" which was based on educational design research. The workshop was based on the assumption that appropriation implies both obtaining solar technology equipment and training in energy literacy. The goal was to enable the beneficiaries to self-identify their energy demand and solar solutions as a way to empower their businesses. The sample was a group of three women between 48 and 53 years of age with businesses: tamalería, fonda and handicrafts in soaps and candles. The workshop followed 4MAT's instructional design.
