  • Automatic detection system for disrespecting traffic lights

    • Authors: Óscar Alberto Gallardo Toapanta, Byron Wladimir Oviedo Bayas, Juan Carlos Pincay Villacreses, Cristhian Israel Zorrilla Ortega
Abstract: Nowadays there are many traffic accidents due to lack of attention and excessive traffic when driving, which, as a consequence, puts the lives of some people at risk. This is caused by several factors, among them, the lack of respect for traffic signals and traffic lights. The present project proposes a small-scale prototype of an automatic detection system to help control drivers of vehicles that do not respect the red light of the traffic signal. This autonomous system consists of 2 sensor devices and 2 alarms, the function of the first sensor is to detect the movement of a vehicle at the moment of running the red light, and immediately the two alarms are activated, the first alarm is located in the place where the infraction is committed, to alert the other drivers and pedestrians, and the second alarm located further ahead, which helps to alert the other drivers and pedestrians that are in that place.

  • Automatic Web accessibility evaluation process. Case study

    • Authors: Sonia Itatí Mariño, Pedro Luis Alfonzo
Abstract: Web Accessibility, a topic of universal connotation, emerges as an aspect that cannot be postponed due to the digitalization increased by the social, preventive and compulsory isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Web Accessibility can be approached from different angles, be they engineering-technological aspects or social and professional issues. The article presents a process focused on automatic validation. The study is performed on the home pages of a sample of 13 sites built to solve specific problematic situations. The analysis of the results determined that the limitation to understand is the most frequent factor, followed by the limitation of the upper limbs, total limitation to see, severe limitation to see and limitations derived from age. The findings indicate the need to advance in these studies, aimed at raising awareness and reducing the barriers to access to information in order to ensure an inclusive knowledge society.

  • The green university and its importance beyond the times of pandemic
           Covid-19

    • Authors: Alex Rosendo Fiallos Barrionuevo, Emma Yolanda Mendoza Vargas, Enrique Intriago Zamora, Harold Elbert Escobar Terán
Abstract: The environmental crisis facing the world today has been added to the current health crisis by COVID-19, constituting one of the main concerns of several international organizations. The "green university" initiative is inserted in this process, as it is the key entity in the development of the educational process, but with a vision of generating greater personal and collective responsibility regarding the proper use of resources, the implementation of good practices and the promotion of environmental awareness that can be replicated by students once they are trained as professionals and are inserted in the different areas of society, which is why it acquires a high prominence.

  • Non-binary identities in a cisheteronormalized world

    • Authors: Yunue Esperanza Flores Amador, Leilani Yeray Hernández Medina, Ana Rodríguez Cuéllar, Mayra Vicario Chávez, Mayleth Alejandra Zamora Echegollen
Abstract: What is non-binary identity' Nowadays, it is increasingly common to come across words, meanings and identities that we do not know or do not understand what they refer to. Therefore, this research presents the results of a series of 3 in-depth qualitative interviews conducted with non-binary people in Mexico City in April 2022, who reflect on their identity and experiences in a society that questions and denies their feelings. For this purpose, a qualitative methodology was proposed that used a bricolage technique that included the codification of meaning and interpretation of meanings based on the processes of constitution of subjectivity and culturally inscribed gender identity.
