  • New routes in the development of social representations theory

Abstract: This writing has the purpose to present some routes that currently travel social representations studies, mainly in Latin America, based on a documentary review of the state of the art on the. There are traditional notions that remain unchanged, others that have been transformed, and new conceptualizations. There is a boom in these studies due to the processes of social change that demand a psychosocial understanding with a historical-cultural orientation. The fight against neoliberalism has imposed a positivist, individualistic model of social science, without social relevance, which stimulates the search for critical interpretations of representational phenomena. Interesting attempts for theoretical linking and relevant applications are observed in different fields of knowledge, such as communication, education and political science. Techniques of social analysis are presented from the procedural and product perspectives. Finally, the evolution of the theory initiated by Moscovici and some relevant aspects to take into account in the future are discussed.

  • Instagram: The search for happiness from the self-promotion of the image

Abstract: From a feminist and sociological approach to socioeconomic structures and emotions, as well as to new technologies, this work investigates the images published in Instagram as a strategy to capture the gaze, which can be capitalized on by followers and likes in young people between 20 and 35 years old. This qualitative research, carried out during the years 2019/2020 based on observations and semi-structured online and offline interviews, contributes to technological, cultural and affective reflections on the shaping of the gaze as a regulation mechanism in social networks. It reflects on the way in which what has been published responds to hegemonic aesthetics of beauty, class, consumption, and capacity, in a neoliberal context where individualism and liberal politicization of bodies prevails, as well as the uncertainty of the flexibility and lability of social rights that encourage self-demanding and individual responsibility for the trajectories that are built.

  • Reading and creative writing as a tool for analysis and transformation of
           the ageing experience

Abstract: Literature is especially important for senior citizens, since through literary representations they can question stereotypes and taboos associated to the ageing experience as well as the continuity of creativity during old age. The analysis and the results presented in this article are based on a reading and creative writing workshop organised within the “Aula abierta” programme at the Universitat de Lleida. In the four sessions that composed the workshop, texts from contemporary authors that focused on topics such as wisdom, loneliness, illness and death were analysed. Through the analysis of the debates and the creative writing activities of the participants, we conclude that literature is an ideal medium to reflect and debate on ageing from an open and creative perspective. Amongst the main conclusions of the analysis, creativity continues to be present in old age.

  • The Establishment of the Mexican Archaeological Heritage as a Tourism
Resource in the Second Half of the XIX Century

Abstract: The objective is to understand the process by which archaeological heritage, before being intervened for consumption, became a fundamental tourist resource to build the image of Mexico as a travel destination. This occurs in the exploration stage of the Tourism Area Life Cycle, in the second half of the 19th century, through the reinforcement of the formal values and the visitor experience and its social construction as distinguishing values and capacity visitor attraction; and participants internal and external actors from the development of discursive strategies and actions that will be analyzed, through the kind of nationalism fostered in that period, the public actions related to the development of archeology and accounts of North American travelers, in order to identify the distinguishing observed qualities in the heritage and with different scope that position it as a tourist resource and justified its transformation into a tourist attraction.

  • The “criollo” and his others. The formation of an identity matrix in
           the Chaco santiagueño

Abstract: In the last decades, the process of invention and popular reception of the “Criollo” social identity began to be discussed in the Argentine social sciences. From an ethnographic methodological approach, the article aims to describe and understand this process during the 20th century in the Chaco santiagueño region, located in the province of Santiago del Estero, Argentine. The results of the investigation process indicate that “Criollo” identity was assigned and appropriated by the local inhabitants in the context of a vertiginous change of social order generated by the arrival of the working capital and migrants known by the local people in terms of “Gringos” and “Turcos”. In other words, the article argues that it was the contrast with “Gringos” and “Turcos” that allowed the discursive adoption of an identity like “criollo” from the literary world of the late nineteenth century and the formation of an identity matrix in the local life.

  • Museums as social and cultural spaces for active ageing: evidence,
           challenges, and opportunities

    • Abstract: Abstract: The work addresses access to Museums as cultural spaces by older adults in Mexico. The access, use, and knowledge they have regarding museums are analyzed. The analysis is carried out by rural or urban origin, travel time, gender, education levels, among other variables. The database used is the Museum Statistics for 2017 published by INEGI in 2018 and the method used consisted of crossing variables. The National Statistical Directory of Economic Units database was accessed to cross-check statistical information with georeferenced points of museums throughout the country. The work adds two different dimensions of study, 1) to the studies of aging and old age, when verifying the mobility, cultural interests and social connectivity of the elderly and, 2) to the studies on museums and cultural spaces, by demonstrating the persistence of access and interest on the part of older adults.

  • Measurement of Intimate Partner Violence in Psychology

Abstract: In psychology, assessing with self-report scales is a central issue. To use them properly they must have certain characteristics of validity and reliability, however, this does not guarantee that they are interpreted without prejudice or common sense, biased, as in the case of the assessment of intimate partner violence (IPV), to blame or revictimize the female victims. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate some of the problems generated by analyzing IPV in a decontextualized way. Some situations of violence described by Mexican men and women from different groups of origin with similar IPV scores are analyzed. The violence reported by men and women is diverse, permeated by gender issues. A gender perspective analysis is proposed to avoid revictimization processes while assessing these phenomena.

  • Old categories and new wine geographies. Discussing the creation of value,
           tradition and identity

    • Abstract: Abstract Wine production is a cultural, creative, versatile activity, and at the same time, it carries conservative and traditional ideas and classifications that, in some cases, do not fit the dynamism and diversity of the global wine scenery. To achieve a better understanding and with the hope to eventually overcome this complex decalage, this article presents a theoretical discussion of value creation in the context of emerging wine-growing areas. The need to incorporate a socio-anthropological perspective to the study of value is explained, and the limits posed by the reproduction of representation and valorization models based on the classic discourse versions of terroir, tradition, and identity are argued. Given the fact that the worlds of wine (Old/New/Third), are being expanded and transformed, this paper shows that the new wine geographies offer a valuable testing ground for a well-aimed interpretation of the winemaking scenarios of the 21st century.

  • Collaborative Journalism and COVID-19: The Pandemic’s News Coverage
           in Mexican Digital Media

This article presents an interpretative analysis of the news coverage of COVID-19 during the first months of its appearance in Mexico, in the context of a collaborative journalism initiative, intending to understand the practices of news production from a civic role of journalism concerning the pandemic. The study applied structured interviews to twenty-six journalists from different media and states of the country, most of whom were members of the #TómateloEnSerioMx initiative against disseminating false information. The results contribute to understanding news production practices, agenda-building, and newsworthiness criteria deployed in the coverage of pandemics under a collaborative journalism effort performed by independent digital media.

  • Identification and Style of Traditional Music of Nonoava, Chihuahua

Abstract In the state of Chihuahua there are musical expressions that achieve identification with their society and culture. Such is the case of the musical style Nonoava, which for more than one hundred years emerged in the Sierra of Chihuahua, and which is still in force. The purpose of this work is to rescue and promote the musical identity mountain region of Nonoava. The musical identity of this town will be revalued through a historical-cultural research work, through the reflection of the regional literature review and interviews with renowned Chihuahuan historians and musicians. It’s assumed that it is in the town of Nonoava, Chihuahua, where crystallization of the musical aesthetics formed in the Mexican Revolution is achieved. However, the diffusion of Nonoava's music has been scarce. This first approach aims to find key pieces of this music.
