  Abstract: This article advances research on international human resource management (HRM) in emerging market organisations (EMOs) that seek to expand globally. Utilising institutional theory and extant literature, I derive insights regarding internationalising EMOs and argue that globally aspirant EMOs are subjected to Western, largely American, institutions due to Western hegemony in the global economy. Subsequently, I analyse three case organisations from Brazil, Russia, and India. With these publicly available data, I find empirical support for my argument that EMOs adapt their HRM systems according to a Western logic, thus allowing them to adhere to institutional demands, gain legitimacy, and expand globally. In addition, scholars may find interest in the evidence suggesting organisational ambidexterity is vital for EMOs navigating institutional complexity in global markets. I hope this study facilitates additional scholarship regarding the impact of institutions and ambidexterity on globally aspirant EMOs' management practices.

  Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate wholly-owned subsidiary (WOS) vs. exporting as the choice of foreign operation modes of Finnish hard-service firms in Spain, and the relations between the selected entry and operation modes based on objectives set for the Spanish markets. The methodology uses the grounded theory approach in IB. The data was collected by interviewing seven managers from four Finnish hard-service firms operating in Spain and the CEO of the Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Spain. The findings reveal that Finnish hard-service firms should establish a WOS in Spain if aiming to increase their global market share, and profit. Finnish subsidiaries in Spain should focus on the local business culture i.e., knowledge of the local language and business practices. The study offers various contributions for example, with methodology, in using the rarely employed grounded theory approach in IB; it reveals insights into the WOS and exporting choices as appropriate operation modes of hard-service Finnish firms in Spain.

  Abstract: This article identifies the ICT incorporation level in Colombian microenterprises and determines its association with the following variables: age of the microenterprise, educational level of the microentrepreneur and the value given to the importance of incorporating ICT in the microenterprise. To identify the ICT level, a rubric was used, and a survey was given to 550 Colombian microentrepreneurs. The association of the variables was determined through the Chi-square statistical test together with the correspondence analysis. Results reveal that 77% of microenterprises are lagging behind and at a basic level in relation to the following categories: equipment, connectivity, web presence, electronic commerce, and social networks. Also, there is an association between the level of incorporation with the educational level variables and the value given to the importance of incorporating ICT in the microenterprise. No evidence was found on the association between the age of the company and the level of ICT incorporation.

  Abstract: Most research on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) concentrates on reduce unemployment and boost economic growth, in particular as a result of the global financial crisis. This research examines how MSMEs adapt to the pandemic and increase resilience. In particular, in times of crisis, MSME should develop strategies and enhance resources. Methods of content analysis using qualitative analytical techniques were employed in the study. News articles from the period of April to June 2020 taken from various online media were used. The present study shows that MSMEs can survive by creating innovation to be resilient in times of crisis. MSMEs' pandemic resistance can be seen in a situation that prevents both demand and the delivery of products, reduces the company's asset value, reduces revenues, and reduces the number of employees. Despite problems, challenges, and many aspects that need adaptation, most MSMEs are unwilling to close down during the pandemic. They have pursued numerous methods to maintain sales including implementing changes to their products, production techniques, altering the raw material composition, decreasing employee compensation, and selling their products online.

  Abstract: Using a modified transaction cost economics approach, we examine shifts in offshore outsourcing governance modes and their implications for supplier upgrading opportunities using a sample of Australasian SMEs outsourcing to China. We find a high rate of mode switching and extend the literature by analysing pure switches as well as mode expansions and extensions. We find that learning in the local market increases willingness to assume risk and the ability to distinguish supplier competence and establish trust. Where this encourages a change in outsourced transactions by SMEs, mode switches provide potential upgrading opportunities.
