  • When Satisfaction Is Not Enough to Build a Word of Mouth and Repurchase
           Intention

    • Authors: I Gusti Agung Eka Teja Kusuma, Ni Nengah Wida Yasmari, Anak Agung Putu Agung, Nengah Landra
      Pages: 1 - 20
Abstract: This study aims to measure the impact of service quality on word of mouth (WOM) and repurchase intention mediated by customer satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach: This cross-sectional study was conducted in all branches of Bank BPD Bali in Bali involving 91 Western Union customers at Bank BPD Bali as respondents. The research hypothesis was tested using a second order model processed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis techniques with PLS software. Findings: Satisfaction has "tired" itself as a mediating buffer of quality of service to build loyalty or intention to buy back and word of mouth positive. The evidence shows, service quality has a positive and significant effect on word of mouth and repurchase intention, but satisfaction fails to mediate the effect of service quality on word of mouth and repurchase intention. Customer satisfaction does not affect word of mouth and repurchase intention Practical/implications: Service quality programs must be able to consider other effects besides satisfaction to build word of mouth and repurchase intention. Satisfaction is dynamic and difficult to maintain when competition is getting tougher.

           Covid-19

    • Authors: Ersy Ervina, Riza Taufiq, Anwari Masatip
      Pages: 21 - 38
Abstract: Implementing health protocols is one of the hotel industry's survival strategies in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although many studies have examined the importance of management strategies in dealing with disasters in the context of the Covid-19, there has been no study analyse the level of guest satisfaction on the preparedness of star hotels during the 'New Normal Era in Bandung, West Java. This research was conducted to evaluate guest satisfaction on star hotels' preparedness by collecting data from guests who had stayed during the pandemic. Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) by sampling 100 respondents was used to assess guest satisfaction with performance, especially within the star hotel section, then dividing the results into four quadrants (Priority, Maintain, Low priority, and Excessive) and Guest satisfaction determine by using Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). IPA analysis results show most of hotel section have implemented the preparedness health protocol that exceeds guests' expectations. Measurement of the guest satisfaction index shows guests are very satisfied with star hotels' preparedness in reducing the risk of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, star-hotels still need improve the preparedness by adapting and innovating service through technology.

  • The Role of Leadership and Decision-Making under Crisis: A bibliometric
analysis and scientific evolution from 1962 to 2020

    • Authors: Harry Patria
      Pages: 39 - 54
Abstract: The unprecedented importance of leadership and decision-making under recent pandemic and economic crises boosts the development of this research domain. This study shed light on the published works of leadership and decision-making under crises which have had the greatest contribution and evolutionary scientific paths over the decades, which are: (1) inspect the scientific anatomy of earlier works and their main structures; (2) scrutinize the scientific trends and the evolutionary path, and (3) recognize theoretical and practical implications. This study generates its analysis based on R programming language with a package of ‘bibliometrix’ (a) multidimensional data analysis, (b) intellectual structure and network analysis, (c) conceptual structure and factorial analysis, (d) strategic diagrams and evolution maps, and (e) historical citation network and research collaboration across the world. From this bibliometric study covering 692 articles published in the academic journal from 1962 to 2020, the findings open up an opportunity of how leaders overcome plausible crises by making the right decision through organizational resources, technological capability, people management. Subsequently, the findings can explain the way decisions are made so that prevent the potential crisis in the stage of planning and lessening the harm in the stage of crisis intervention. For theoretical contributions, it appears that future research needs to explore the emerging themes of data mining, artificial intelligence, information system, and information management. In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare and crisis management are likely to be addressed by unleashing cutting-edge digital technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Internet of Things (IoT).

This research is a quantitative study with the data analysis method used Auto-regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to analyze the relationship between independent variables on the dependent variable in the long term and short term. The result is that GDP has a negative and significant effect on NPF both in the long term and short term. In comparison, the exchange rate and inflation have a positive and significant effect on the NPF in the short run but have no significant effect in the long run.

  • Does Liability of Newness Matter for Digital Startup on Early Stage of
           Organizational Life Cycle'

    • Authors: Agus Harijanto, Syamsul Maarif, Herien Puspitawati, Joko Affandi
      Pages: 105 - 124
Abstract: This study aims to test and analyzes the relationship between organizational life cycle characteristics and survivability of a digital startup in the early stage. In establishing new startup and managing early stage, founders have been facing two-fold pages. On one side, the opportunities exploration and exploitation require freedom to acts. On the other side, newly organization faces liability of newness traps that consider organizational formalization and organizational capability. The relationship among aspects is formulated as two-paths mediating roles on the impact of liability of newness and startup survivability. Questionnaires were distributed to 415 respondents in Greater Jakarta City, Indonesia. The study considered Jakarta represented Indonesian digital startup ecosystem. This newly established and still developing startup ecosystem that characterizes the early stages of OLC is considered relevant to the study. The data was analyzed quantitatively using SEM method. The result shows the linkage between the two-paths of mediating role. Since the opportunities are central of mindset for survivability, external legitimacy becomes antecedents of external opportunities as well as reliability and accountability required from organizational formalization and capability. Founders need to understand and translate the impact of liability of newness to establish an appropriate and better organization formalization and organization capability for startup survivability. This study contributes to enrich the early stage of organizational life cycle theory as well as to enhance startup founders’ managerial practices.
