  • Online Herd Behavior in Virtual Communities

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Previous studies on WOM have stressed the importance of peer consumer reviews in making purchase decision. When people follow the others purchase decision on the Internet, online herd behavior occurs. This paper presents three experiments that examine herd behavior in virtual communities: In experiment 1, a 2 (Volume: sales/recommendation) online experiment was conducted. Experiment 2 investigated herd effects using a 2 (Number of volume: relative/absolute) × 2 (Number of scale: large/small) online experiment. Online experiment 3 examined herd effects using a 2 (Number of experience-sharing messages: more/fewer) × 2 (Number of recommendations: more/fewer) online experiment. These experiments involved 484 people in a Taiwanese virtual community. Results demonstrated that consumer recommendation volume causes significantly more frequent online herd behavior compared with sales volume. This study advances the literature on online herd behavior in virtual communities.

  • The Use of Management Information Systems in Learning

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Information systems are applied to a range of activities by organizations to improve efficiency and effectiveness. They are used in almost all industries, including manducating, health, and education. Therefore, organizations must measure and evaluate the usability of their systems to get the most value from the systems. One of the most reliable evaluation scales that can measure the usability of the systems is the System Usability Scale (SUS) which was used in this study to evaluate the usability of Blackboard at universities in Saudi Arabia. This study showed that Blackboard as LMS had a high SUS score when it was used at Saudi Universities. Indeed, the current study revealed that Blackboard could be used in teaching effectively. Furthermore, the current research findings show that students have higher SUS scores than lecturers, which means they can easily use Blackboard. It is also recommended that lecturers receive more training on Blackboard.

  • Can leadership possess virtual pair of eyes'

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Studies intersecting organizational networks and cross-cultural leadership research are short supplied in literature. One explanation could be underwhelming motivation to integrate research areas that historically lack consent over operational definitions and contextual applications. This study brings a third variable, e-Leadership, investigated as a moderating variable; in the process, the study lends a hand to start the process of arriving at an operational definition of e-Leadership. The lack of integration studies encouraged the buildup of this study. What makes such a discussion important is the transition to the remote workspace during Covid-19 and expecting the traditional Leadership research accountable for the gaps that were left in the rapid transition & governance of the virtual workspaces. The study is based on 18 international markets of an MNE that recently received ERP upgrades.

           DIGITAL LITERACY IN ACHIEVING IT.

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Digital financial inclusion is an issue which needs to be addressed in today's era. Its impact, reach and outcome were obvious at the time of corona. This paper highlights the significance of digital literacy and financial literacy and shows how the lack of these two can act as a roadblock in achieving digital financial inclusion along with demographic barriers. This paper highlights the factors relevant to achieve digital financial inclusion. For this primary data was collected from the respondents of the age group 18-60 having an education from intermediate to post graduate level coming from rural to metro regions working in an unorganized, contractual, self-job having an income base of 10000-40000. It was seen that digital and financial illiteracy varies along with education, income and regional boundaries. Financial and digital illiteracy was evident among many respondents due to lack of access, usage, aptitude and application. Proper financial training and knowledge can be a solution to this problem.

  • Research on the policies respond to the rise of platform monopolies

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Platform enterprises operate in the platform business model, which is very different from traditional enterprises. Therefore, the legal regulation of mutual monopoly of Internet platform enterprises has become more complex. Facing the monopoly phenomenon in the platform economy market, we must have appropriate policies to deal with it and alleviate the problem of unfair resource allocation under incomplete market competition. This essay briefly analyses the corresponding policy of platform monopoly in different jurisdictions. From the antitrust experience of the United States and China, it can be concluded that preventing market monopoly is the primary goal to deal with platform monopoly. From the EU's antitrust experience, it can be supposed that preventing data monopoly is a vital goal to deal with platform monopoly. Through the combination of Anti-market monopoly and Anti-data Monopoly policies, we can appropriately deal with the platform's market monopoly, stimulate the platform's economic vitality, and create more economic value for the market.

  • The role of the digital economy in market disruption

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: The role of the digital economy is undoubtful these days, with new digital services and technologies appearing regularly, creating new products, and digitalizing others. With the technology exploring new limits, the growth tendency of this economy is clear, and more incumbents will face serious competition, which can’t be ignored. Several of these startups have untapped markets that are not being addressed, exploring that disruption leads to more innovative solutions that will likely lead to better services for people and organizations. Those startups might, though, move up the ladder and take away the market from those incumbents; with this work, we aim to analyze the role of digital economies in market disruption through the lenses of a case study and understand to what extent that case is looking at disrupt an existing market

  • Exploring Online Shopping Adoption for Innovations in Market Development

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Online shopping technology is important as it helps businesses to gain value from lesser operational expenditures due to the reduced workforce and physical space. Despite its benefits, the adoption of online shopping in Africa, including Namibia, lags. Hence the main objective of this research is to investigate the challenges and issues in adopting online shopping for market growth. Adopting a qualitative approach based on the UTAUT model we determine and analyze predominant challenges and issues, examine the influence of demographic variables on online shopping, define and investigate the key success factors and propose strategies to increase the adoption of online shopping. Findings reflect that lack of security and trustworthiness in the online shopping process is a key challenge in the adoption of online shopping. Recommendations include that the government should regulate online shopping procedures to protect consumers and prevent cybercrime and businesses should offer consumer education to build trust and eliminate fear in the online shopping process.

  • Understanding Innovation in Organizations and Its Implications

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Organizations incorporate innovation in their processes to grow and to achieve business excellence. Although innovation is a pervasive term, it appears to be elusive because of its different explanations. Organizations should recognize three aspects of innovation to reap its benefits which include: innovation is an outcome, innovation is a process, and innovation is a mindset. The outcome emphasizes what output is sought, including product innovation, process innovation, marketing innovation, business model innovation, supply chain innovation, and organizational innovation. Innovation as a process should be organized so that the outcomes are effective. This includes an overall innovation process and a new product development process. Innovation is a mindset which employees should internalize. Innovation should be ingrained with the creation of a supportive organizational culture. It defines necessary elements, considerations, and vernacular. It allows organizations to adopt effective strategies and to take better decisions which allow them to enable innovation.

Abstract: This paper aims to explore the economic impact of mobile banking on rural Bangladesh. It also tries to detect the rural people’s perception about this new financial phenomenon. To meet the goals this study involves both quantitative and qualitative investigation. To get the quantitative data a survey was conducted by a set questionnaire where 300 people from three villages participated. In the qualitative part, semi-structured in-depth interviews of 60 mobile bank users were conducted. Applying grounded theory and hermeneutics approaches, this study finds that since the service of mobile banking is easy and fast, rural people adopted it quickly and it affects positively in the socio-economic development in rural Bangladesh. Its impact on employment creation, business, savings behavior, remittance, expenditure, and agriculture is found good. However, it is also found that the mobile banking services are helping the criminals to do illegal economic activities such as forgery.

  • IT Governance Maturity for Uganda’s Higher Institutions of Learning

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: The daily application of Information Technology (IT) in public sector organizations and its positioning as a critical driver for economic growth require a focus on implementing IT governance. Despite the increasing application of IT, there is limited academic systematic research regarding the maturity of IT governance and process improvement in Higher Institutions of Learning (HILs). IT in HILs is highly complex, and managing complex systems of processes and platforms in HILs necessitates tools to assess and provide guidelines for integrating organizational processes. This research, therefore, evaluated the IT governance processes in HILs in Uganda and established the maturity level to ensure continuous improvement and organizational maturity. Eight HILs in Uganda were measured using 15 IT processes of the COBIT framework and rated with the generic maturity model. Data were analyzed using MS Excel. Results indicated IT governance maturity level of HILs in Uganda was at level 2 (repeatable).

Abstract: The purpose of the study is to find out Information Technology challenges facing by practicing auditors using measurement variables used in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. This research study has adopted the sequential mixed method research in which the exploratory qualitative study is conducted with the qualified practicing auditors across Kerala to identify various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software using in their audit firms. The results of this exploratory study are then empirically tested with the 321 respondents from qualified practicing-auditor accountants in Kerala using Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that there is a significant and positive relationship between variables used in the UTAUT model with practicing auditors. Thus, the results suggest that all the four constructs from UTAUT (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions) seem to be predominantly significant factors influencing practicing auditors.
