  • Gendered Preferences in Selecting Physical Education Activity Skills
           Courses: A Study of a Taiwanese and a United States University

      Abstract: The purposes of this study were to examine the role of basic physical education curriculum in two universities and to ascertain how gender influenced Physical Education (PE) activity skills enrollment over a 10-year period. Researchers employed a cross-cultural quantitative approach. Data collection involved 127,956 students from a Taiwan university and a United States university. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics and multiple regressions calculated with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings reveal differences and significant trends in: (a) the relationship between curriculum structures at the two institutions, (b) gender enrollment over years, and (c) the types of physical education activity skills courses taken.

      Abstract: While the modernization movement has led to profound changes in politics, economy and culture around the world, human development is also facing unprecedented difficulties. The concern about modernization puts forward the value for modernization orientation of the times. Higher education must transcend the realistic culture with instrumental rationality as the core, and the most fundamental must be first. Only by transcending its own narrowness and constructing the educational philosophy view of the integration of science education and humanities education, can it give full play to its cultural criticism and literature. With the function of creation, it undertakes the historical mission of value orientation for modernization.

  • Investigating the Challenges Faced by Teachers in the Implementation of
           Digital Technology in Secondary Schools in Rundu Circuit, Kavango East
           Region Namibia

      Abstract: This study investigated the challenges faced by teachers in the implementation of digital technology in Secondary Schools in Rundu circuit, Kavango east region Namibia. The study adopted a qualitative research approach. The population of this study was comprised of of all secondary school teachers and principals in Rundu circuit, Kavango east region Namibia. The sample of this study consisted of three principals and seven teachers who were chosen purposively from the 3 secondary schools in the Rundu Circuit in Kavango East region. The qualitative data was collected by means of a semi structured open ended questionnaires. Data collected from the interviews were then transcribed, presented and then analysed using thematic analysis.The findings of this study indicated that lack of pedagogical training was one of the impeding factors to the implementation of the digital technology policy in the teaching and learning process. The findings of the study also indicated that a greater number of teachers had little or no access to the digital technology resources in their institutions. It was established during this study that burglary was on the increase in Kavango East region and computers and air conditioners were the main targets, most of the schools had their laboratories broken into and their computers and other supporting gadgets stolen, making the whole implementation of the digital technology policy fall on its face. The findings of the study further found that schools in Kavango East Region do not have electricity and that some schools had a lot of broken down computers which accumulated over time due to lack of the proper technical skills on the part of the teachers to have them repaired or fixed for use by both teachers and students.It can be concluded from the findings of this study that, lack of pedagogical training was one of the impeding factors to the implementation of the digital technology policy in the teaching and learning process at some Secondary Schools in Rundu circuit, Kavango east region Namibia. It can also be concluded that the absence of digital technology resources was another stinging obstacle to the implementation of the digital technology policy in the classrooms by teachers. The study concludes that burglary was on the increase in Kavango East region.The study suggested that the Ministry of Education has to fully intensify its involvement in the digital technology policy implementation process through the provision of human and material support, supervision and constant reviews or evaluations. Teachers need to be constantly in-serviced on digital technology skills in schools so that they are fully equipped and aware of the digital technology tools’ usage for the benefit of the Namibian child.

  • Global Education Styles Post-COVID-19 Pandemic

      Abstract: The outbreak of COVID-19, resulted in societies’ chaos and economies’ turbulence, necessitating countries’ collective action to address the impacted socio-economic devastation, and the pre-knowledge of the powerful forces, that make the school reforms a reality.The pandemic has affected educational systems globally, leading to closures of schools, universities and colleges, around the world, affecting approximately 1.7 billion students. According to the UNICEF about 153 countries are implementing nationwide closures and 24 are implementing local closures, impacting almost 99% of the world's student population. Not only students, but also teachers, and families, have far-reaching economic and societal consequences, shedding light on various social and economic issues. In the Post Covid-19 education system, distance learning will transfer education from physical classrooms to virtual learning platforms. It is predicted that, COVID-19 will change the current way of life, as it will be defined as: “before COVID-19” and “after COVID-19”. This suggests that, some aspects of schooling, might not be the same way as before and education needs to change, to prepare young learners for what the future is holding for them. According to the World Economic Forum, 65% of primary-school children today will be working in job types that do not exist yet.

           Education Governance Empowered by Big Data

      Abstract: Big data has become an important tool to promote the transformation of higher education governance. In internal mechanism, the governance of higher education empowered by big data can continuously optimize the governance structure of higher education, enrich the governance subjects of higher education, expand the boundaries of higher education governance and update the governance rules of higher education. In terms of value logic, the governance of higher education with big data empowerment is mainly reflected in shaping data thinking, reconstructing value cognition, surpassing technical rationality and realizing characteristic development. At present, the governance of big data empowerment higher education mainly has practical difficulties, such as lack of institutional guarantee for data application, weak research ability of data technology, information risk in data based governance and technological governance ignoring the needs of the subject. In the future, the governance of big data empowerment higher education needs to further standardize data governance and improve the modern university system with Chinese characteristics. Mining data value to stimulate the internal power of higher education governance; Based on the whole data, realize the collaborative governance of higher education; In-depth interpretation of data, highlighting the people-oriented value orientation.
