      Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to go beyond the narrow conception of corporate social responsibility as a profit-generating mechanism to a shared value where the people, planet, profit, and plural sector (4Ps) guide us towards a sustainable firm. The literature review on the firm sustainability and the recent e-pamphlet published by <i>Henry Mintzberg</i>, this paper proposes the fourth 'P' called the plural sector to achieve firm sustainability at the firm level while Mintzberg's articulation was at the macro economics level. The plural sector represents civil society, non-governmental organisations, cooperatives, and human rights organisations. Managers and policymakers need to incorporate the civil society and broader public groups in making the firm sustainable in the long run apart from saving the planet, reducing poverty, and at the same time making an ethical profit. Based on this logic, this research argues for the stakeholder's value maximisation approach and derives implications beyond Elkington's triple bottom line - arguing plural sector as a watchdog to keep the society in balance in most of the countries and markets.

  • Environmental consciousness and its impact on pro-environmental purchase
           intention in emerging economies' perspective

      Abstract: Environmental sustainability is imperative for the sustenance of human life on Earth. The environmental pressure created by the overconsumption and overuse of natural resources threatens the environment. This study intended to determine the consumer's environmental consciousness and identify the relationship between environmental consciousness and pro-environmental purchase intention. This study is quantitative in nature, where data collected from 201 upper- and middle-class consumers using non-probability convenience sampling techniques were analysed using PLS-SEM. The findings show a relationship between environmental consciousness and pro-environmental purchase intention, suggesting that environmentally conscious people are more likely to purchase pro-environmental goods. The findings also suggest that environmental attitude, environmental knowledge, environmental concern, and subjective norms influence developing environment consciousness among the consumers. Pro-environmental purchase intention is affected not only by environmental consciousness but also by many other factors. Incorporating those variables can stimulate researchers to understand pro-environmental purchase intention better.

  • A systematic literature review on determinants and measures of export
           performance of small and medium-sized enterprises

      Abstract: The study reviews 97 articles published between 2015 and 2021 to evaluate the measures and determinants of export performance. The vote-counting technique is used to summarise each determinant and measure of export performance. The findings are manifested in the following points: 1) numerous determinants of export performance were identified; 2) explicit conceptual models for export performance were employed; 3) more sophisticated statistical tools were used; 4) interaction and indirect influences of variables on export performance were considered. Despite this, the literature is endemic to certain limitations: 1) diverse set of determinants and a wide variety of constructs makes it challenging to compare results; 2) absence of a holistic conceptual framework that accounts for all aspects of export drivers; 3) lack of consensus regarding the conceptualisation and measurement of export performance constructs. The study also highlights fertile areas for future research to understand the multifaceted export performance concept.

  • An expert system for systematic international market selection

      Abstract: We tested and examined the use of systematic international market selection (IMS) in the case of a library software/automation provider in a Nordic country. The purpose of our study was to investigate how the case company defined the most suitable markets for entry, using a multi-criteria fuzzy expert decision support system. The study contributes to the IMS literature by highlighting the key issues that define the right market for entry. The study also shows how managers can supplement experiential knowledge with a systematic rational decision-making process in international market expansion. A fuzzy expert approach was used to test the data collected from the case company, a Nordic MNC, anonymised using the name International Library Systems. Qualitative data were collected from semi-structured interviews with key informants in the case company. The quantitative data used, were secondary data drawn from various statistical sources. The top two countries chosen by the system, confirmed the company's initial choice. The findings indicated the ability of the proposed rule-based expert system to maintain a consistent logic for the managers, allowing them to follow a more formal procedure than one based solely on intuition, when selecting new markets to enter.

  • International entrepreneurship by African firms: a discussion on

      Abstract: This paper offers a conceptual assessment of some constraints associated with development of dynamic capabilities, for achieving a competitive advantage by African firms in international context. The paper advances the extant international entrepreneurship and dynamic capabilities literature by specifically highlighting the role of financial, managerial, institutional, and spiritual factors in relation to the development of capabilities needed for success in international markets. Several strategies including human resource management and human capital development practices which can potentially strengthen the dynamic capabilities linked to international entrepreneurial competitiveness of African firms are also suggested based on the conceptual discussion.
