  • THE INFLUENCE OF AGE, NUMBER OF CHILDREN, EDUCATION LEVEL AND KNOWLEDGE ON
POSTPARTUM CONTRACEPTION PLANNING IN PREGNANT WOMEN IN SARIREJO
           SUB-DISTRICT

    • Authors: Mita Dwi ayudha
Abstract: The problem of stunting that occurs in Indonesia is caused by one of the sensitive factors, namely bad parenting. Improper parenting can occur in mothers whose children are born too close together (<2 years). Postpartum contraception can also be a solution for those who are "4 too". The achievement of postpartum family planning services in Sarirejo Sub District (65.12%) has not met the target (70%). Several previous studies have shown that contraceptive use is influenced by age, number of children, level of education and knowledge. This study aims to analyze the influence between age, number of children, level of education and knowledge with postpartum family planning plans for pregnant women in Sarirejo Sub District. This research is an analytic observational study with a cross sectional design. The subjects of this study were all pregnant women in Sarirejo Sub District in April 2023 with a total sample of 77 respondents. The results showed that the variables Age (0.000), Number of Children (0.001),  Education level (0.000) and Knowledge (0.000) had a influence with postpartum family planning plans. The conclusion of this study is that there is a influence between age, number of children, level of education and knowledge with postpartum family planning plans for pregnant women in Sarirejo Sub District. Therefore the advice that can be given is to increase the understanding and knowledge of pregnant women about the importance of postpartum family planning through counseling, cross-sector collaboration between family planning counselors and village midwives.   Keywords: contraception, postpartum, pregnant mother

  • The Effect Of Personal Tax Exemption On Fertility In Indonesia

    • Authors: Arima Khurria, Dwini Handayani
Abstract: Personal tax exemption (PTKP) can influence fertility choices by changing the costs or benefits of childbearing and increasing family disposable income. This study aims to analyze the effect of personal tax exemption on the addition of children in Indonesia. Using IFLS data waves 4 and 5 and the Linear Probability Model method, this study shows an inverse U-shaped relationship between the addition of children and personal tax exemption. The inverse U-shaped relationship indicates that the marginal effect of personal tax exemption decreases as the value of personal tax exemption increases. In addition, the probability of adding children is also influenced by the mother's characteristics (age and working status), other adult female family members in the household, and the number of children. This study reveals that the taxation variable, PTKP, can affect fertility. Thus, birth control should be carried out by considering various aspects other than direct birth control (e.g., family planning), including taxation.

  • SURVIVAL DIFFERENCES OF LOW BIRTH WEIGHT BASED ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC FACTORS

    • Authors: Hanin Ruliyani
Abstract: IDHS 2017 showed the prevalence of LBW infants in Indonesia is 7%. LBW can increase the risk of mortality, morbidity, and growth disorders. The survival of LBW infants can be influenced by socio-economic factors. The purpose of this study is to analyze survival time differences of LBW infants based on socio-economic factors. This research is a non-reactive study using secondary data from the IDHS 2017. Survival analysis using the Kaplan Meier method and analysis of differences in survival curves using the Log Rank method. The independent variables in the study include parents' occupation, household wealth index, mother's education, and father's education. The measured event is infant mortality within one year. Mother's education (p-value = 0.069) have no difference in the survival time of LBW. Parent's occupation (p-value = 0.013) has a difference in the survival time of LBW. Probability of survival is 99% in LBW with non-working mother. There is a difference in the survival time of LBW based on the household wealth index factor (p-value = 0.000) with the probability of survival for LBW born in the lowest wealth index family is 90%. Differences in the survival time of LBW has been found in the parents' occupation and household wealth index variables

  • MARRIAGE READINESS OF LATE TEENAGERS AGED 20-24 IN INDONESIA

    • Authors: chairunnisa murniati, Resti Pujihasvuty
Abstract: Readiness for marriage in adolescents aged 20-24 years shows readiness to change roles and new responsibilities as husband and wife, manage the family, and raise children. This study aims to obtain information and an overview of the readiness for marriage in adolescents in Indonesia aged 20-24 from 10 aspects of readiness. The research used a quantitative approach, targeting unmarried youth aged 20-24 in Indonesia. The instrument used is a structured questionnaire distributed via a Google Form ® link. Data analysis used the scoring method to measure the index of youth readiness in family life. This study classifies adolescents' readiness scores in family life into two categories: ready and not ready, with a cut-off of 80. If the readiness value is ≥80, it is categorized as ready, whereas if the readiness index value is <80, it is classified as not ready. The result shows the index of family readiness for adolescents aged 20-24 years in Indonesia is 79.21. It means that adolescents aged 20-24 years in Indonesia are still categorized as not ready to live with a family. The ten dimensions of readiness classified "as not yet ready" are financial, age and planning aspects of marriage, emotional, physical, intellectual, and social aspects. In contrast, readiness aspects categorized as "ready" are life skills, mental, interpersonal, and moral aspects.

  • "Determinants of Desired Ideal Number of Children in Central
           Java”

    • Authors: Eka Setya Ardiningsih, Syamsulhuda Budi Musthofa, Bagoes Widjanarko
Abstract: Uncontrolled population growth poses a major challenge for communities and governments, especially in healthcare. Indonesia, as the world's fourth most populous countries, faces this issue, with Central Java, one of the most populous province having a stagnant total fertility rate. This research investigates the determinants of desired children among Central Java's women aged 15-49, using 2022 Family Data Update. Multivariate logistic regression reveals significant association with factors like age at first marriage, education, occupation, and health insurance participation. This study observed that women of childbearing age who married at 21 or older were less likely to desire more than two children compared to those who married earlier (AOR=0.791; 95% CI: 0.786; 0.796). Employed women were also less inclined to desire more than two children than unemployed women (AOR=0.798; 95% CI: 0.793; 0.803). Additionally, women with health insurance subscriptions were more likely to desire more than two children (AOR=1.129; 95% CI: 1.121; 1.137). These findings highlight the social and health aspect of fertility preferences in Indonesia. Promoting women's education and employment, enhancing adolescent reproductive health programs, and aligning healthcare and family planning policies are essential strategies to reshape fertility preferences among women of childbearing age in Indonesia.

Abstract: Based on the results of the 2021 Family Data Collection, Ngadiluwih District, Kediri Regency has a high unmet need case of 19.25%. This unmet need figure is still far from the target of the 2019-2024 RPJMN. The village area with high unmet need in Ngadiluwih District is Mangunrejo Village with 16.89% cases. The high number of unmet need is caused by various factors, one of which is socio-economic. The purpose of this study was to analyze employment status on the intention to use contraception among PUS (Couples of Reproductive Age) with unmet need conditions in Mangunrejo Village. This research is an analytic observational study with a cross sectional study approach which was carried out in Mangunrejo Village in April-June 2022. The method used was interviews and distributing questionnaires to respondents. The sample is PUS that meets the inclusion and exclusion criteria from the PUS population in Mangunrejo Village. From a total of 12 working respondents and 12 non-working respondents, 61.3% of respondents who did not work had the intention of using contraception and 47.8% of working respondents had the intention of using contraception. The results of the analysis of respondents' employment status in couples of childbearing age with unmet need (p = 0.325) did not have a significant relationship with the intention to use contraception. In conclusion, PUS with unmet need in Ngadiluwih District who have a job do not always have an intention to use contraception.

  • CONSEQUENCES OF BIRTH INTERVAL ON NEWBORN HEALTH

    • Authors: Nedra Wati Zaly
Abstract: Babies with Low Birth Weight (LBW) are more at risk of occurring at short birth intervals than at longer birth intervals. The reproductive capacity of women can decrease and return to the primiparous state in women who experience long birth intervals which can also be risky for the baby. The purpose of this study was to determine the consequences of birth spacing on the health of newborns. This study uses two methods, both quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative method uses data from the 2017 IDHS with a cross-sectional research design. The sample of this research is mothers who gave birth in the last five years and had at least 2 (two) pregnancies. The results of this study found that 9.8% experienced short birth spacing and 7.2% of babies born with low birth weight. This study confirms the existence of a relationship between birth spacing and the incidence of LBW babies. Short birth interval risks giving birth to babies with LBW. It is hoped that the results of this study will become an initial reference for designing policies on birth intervals to improve newborn health and reduce infant mortality.

  • Fertility and Pregnancy During The Pandemic at The Dayak Meratus Tribe

    • Authors: Norma Yuni Kartika
Abstract: The fertility rate in South Kalimantan in 2017 is the same as Indonesia's in 2.4. This figure is below the target figure for the 2020-2021 National Medium-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional/RPJMN) in 2.1. This study aims to determine the factors affecting fertility and pregnancy which occurred during the pandemic in women of childbearing age (Wanita Usia Subur/WUS) of the Dayak Pitap Tribe living in the Meratus mountains, Ajung Village, Tebing Tinggi District, Balangan Regency, South Kalimantan Province. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research sample taken was 70 respondents using the quota sampling method with the simple random sampling method. Data processing and analysis were carried out in three stages, namely univariate analysis, bivariate with chi-square statistical test, and multivariate analysis using a binary logistic regression model. The results of the analysis show that women of childbearing age from the Dayak Meratus/Dayak Pitap Tribe who are under 35 years old and have finished elementary school are 24.4 percent more likely to have children ≤2. From this, it could be concluded that age and level of education affect fertility.

  • Correlation of Morbidity with Smoking Status and Posbindu PTM to Prepare
Aging Society Health Manifestation in Indonesia

    • Authors: Rizma Dwi Nastiti, Arief Hargono, Kurnia Dwi Artanti, Santi Martini, Chung-Yi Li, Adinda Rahma Triyaniarta
Abstract: Background: Aging increases vulnerability to diseases. Comprehensive strategies promoting healthy lifestyles are vital. Posbindu PTM (Integrated Guidance Post for NCD) is a community-based program, representing Indonesia's proactive approach to mitigating the impact of NCDs through monitoring the risk factors of NCDs. Posbindu PTM aims to empower individuals to do early intervention and lifestyle changes, including smoking prevention. Objectives: To investigate the correlations between morbidity rates with smoking status, and the conduct of Posbindu PTM among Indonesia's elderly population. Methods: A total of 34 provinces in Indonesia were included in the analysis. The dependent variable is morbidity rates, the independent variables are the percentage of smoking status (active smokers, ex-smokers and non-smokers), and the percentage of villages implementing Posbindu PTM. The data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test to ascertain the presence of correlations among variables. Results: Active smoker (p=0.007; r=0.455; direction=positive), ex-smoker (p=0.003; r=0.497; direction=positive), and non-smoker (p=0.002; r=-0.506; direction=negative) had a significant relationship with morbidity in Indonesia's elderly. Posbindu PTM existence did not show significant relationship with morbidity (p=0.367). The average percentage of Posbindu PTM implementations in Indonesia is still 65% by 2021, means not all regions providing the program. Conclusion: High smoking status among elderly in Indonesia affects the level of morbidity. Posbindu PTM as the early detection and health promotion post hasn't been implemented well in Indonesia. More efforts and government commitment need to be optimized to prioritize health promotion and prevention from the lowest level, in order to achieve a prosperous and effective aging society.
