  • Analysis of Educational Problems in Islamic Non Formal Education (Study at
the House of Tahfidz Al-Qur'an Lampung)

    • Authors: Ahmad Syarifuddin Zuhri, Achmad Asrori, Idham Kholid, Ahmad Fauzan, Miftahur Rohman

  • Analysis of Students’ Spiritual Humanism through Seyyed Hossein Nasr's
Thoughts and Its Implications for Islamic Learning

    • Authors: Regita Pramesti Adiningsih, Nafik Muthohirin, Mohammad Nurul Humaidi
      Pages: 230 - 254
Abstract: Seyyed Hossein Nasr is a 20th-century Muslim thinker who succeeded in linking the spiritual and rational dimensions of modern life. His thinking responds to various problems of modernity experienced by contemporary humans. This article wants to look further into the problem of modernity on the social and spiritual behavior of students and its implications for the practice of Islamic education in Islamic religious universities in Indonesia through Nasr's thoughts. This article is important because it wants to reveal the various problems of modernity that can lead students to behave negatively. Students behave far from social and religious norms, such as drinking alcohol, dirty talk, promiscuity, and various other social deviations, but are often considered normal. This ultimately has an impact on attitudes that tend to neglect their responsibilities as students, decrease motivation to study, and many even do not continue their studies. As an indication, they are experiencing a spiritual crisis. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method with an analytical study approach that prioritizes the depth of argumentation and verification of literature references and evidence in the field. Data mining was also carried out through in-depth observations and interviews with 110 students taken from all study programs at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. The research found that the modern crisis causes students' spiritual piety to experience degradation due to deviant social behavior habits and disregard for religious norms. In the aspect of implementing Islamic learning, it is necessary to evaluate strengthening humanist and spiritual values at the university level, as well as realizing the integration of spiritual values in the education curriculum.

  • Measuring Emotional Intelligence of Islamic Higher Education Students: A
           Factor Analysis Approach

    • Authors: Rijal Firdaos, Muhammad Mustofa
      Pages: 270 - 290
Abstract: According to many studies, emotional intelligence is a crucial factor that can contribute to the success of the academic and non-academic domains. This research aimed to assess the emotional intelligence of Islamic students in higher education. The participants in this research were 151 Islamic higher education students. The researcher employed the survey technique with Likert scale parameters. This research empirically states that 39 emotional intelligence measuring instruments were spread into five dimensions. The construct validity results using factor analysis showed that the items that had been successfully estimated were 39 indicators that were higher than 0.50. Of the 56 items, 14 items were invalid based on the MSA value in stage one, namely items 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 on the understanding self-emotions dimensions, item 24 on the managing self-emotions dimensions, items 25 and 34 on the self-motivation dimensions, and items 36, 39, 40, 41, 42, and 43 on the building relationships with other people dimensions. Furthermore, for understanding other people's emotions, all of the items’ MSA values were above 0.5. In the second stage, the assessment was based on the loading factor. Three items were invalid because they did not meet the requirements. The three items were item 1 of the understanding self-emotions dimension, items 10 and 13 on managing self-emotions dimensions. For the other three dimensions, all of the items’ loading factors were higher than 0.50. Likewise, the reliability index in the first stage was 0.761, and the reliability index in the second stage was 0.817 (both indexes were higher than 0.70). Therefore, the emotional intelligence instrument could be declared reliable.

           5.0

    • Authors: Didik Nur Haris
      Pages: 339 - 352
Abstract: The era of the industrial revolution 4.0 has given birth to major changes in the 21st century marked by the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data. This revolution has impacted all aspects of life, including social, economic, cultural, political and educational, with the emergence of a world order that is full of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. The idea of the era of society 5.0 is a new hope for the birth of humanist technological progress where humans are the center of a technology-based society for a more meaningful and balanced life. This study is a liberary research which states that the approach to the educational process based on fitrah and basic human potential is more likely to create a natural, adaptive and comfortable learning process through five models of fitrah-based education approaches, namely character-based education, collaboration-based education, project-based education, talent-based education and role model-based education.
