It also tests the hypothesis of whether there is a significant influence between fostering tolerance among religious communities and heterogeneous student behavior in the formal educational institutions in Gorontalo City. The study used quantitative research with a correlation method through a simple regression. Data were collected using a closed questionnaire, which involved 67 students. This study showed that there is a significant influence between fostering religious tolerance and intolerant behavior of students. This influence is shown by the regression coefficient number of F-count 115.577 with a significance level of 5% (F-table = 3.99). Besides, the value of determination (R Square) = 0,640 illustrates that tolerance among religious communities has a high effect on the tolerance behavior of students. Thus, it can be stated that 64% of the students’ tolerance behavior is affected by the religious communities’ tolerance, and the rest (36%) is influenced by other factors.

  • The Understanding of Radicalism in Political Context and The Implication
           in Republic of Indonesia Unity

    • Authors: Haniah Haniah, Abd. Basir, M. Daud Yahya, Gia Ayu Fita, Aloysius Jondar
Abstract: This paper focuses on the emergence of nuanced political radicalism in various official forums and social media, which are believed to have implications for the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. This research is qualitative with a literature review. The literature review is under discussion by looking for references related to issues and acts of radicalism that threaten national unity. The data analysis collects various references related to the discussion carried out and examines them from several references. This research finds that the issues and actions that occur in Indonesia are not new because of the existence of groups that are not in line with the government's thinking so that in political nuances, this becomes a very urgent matter. The state considers this problem to have implications for the existence of the current ruler. At the same time, radicalism has been increasingly heard since the digital era, where all citizens, who practice and sympathize with others, will all be channeled through the internet so that issues of radicalism and the power of unity can be found through internet access.

  • Religion and Poverty Reduction: A Case Study of Coastal Communities in
           Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi

    • Authors: Abdullah
Abstract: This paper focuses on examining the role of religion in improving the work ethic of fishing communities in Takalar Regency. The approach used in this research is the Socio-theological Approach (Social monotheism). The social theological approach is a method or method used to link the sociological level of religious or divine society in order to analyze and reveal data on the reality under study. The data acquisition technique is to use data collection methods in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that religion (Islam) plays a role in building work ethic. Poverty can make a person disbelieve in his Lord. Islam teaches its adherents to share with those who are entitled in terms of the theological concept of zakat as poverty alleviation and as a means of realizing social welfare. Islam does not close the space for its adherents to achieve economic prosperity. The framework of monotheism in Islamic teachings has outlined social involvement for its followers to always care and help others.
