           From Indonesia

    • Authors: Lailatu Rohmah, Dika Putri Rahayu, Muhammad Abdul Latif
      Pages: 159 - 180
Abstract: Entrepreneurship education in early childhood has been applied to several kindergartens in Indonesia. However, some children still think that these activities are limited to playing games and have not lived up to the meaning of entrepreneurial values. This study aims to describe spiritual-based entrepreneurship education in early childhood. This research method is a qualitative case study. The research subjects were early childhood children at the Khalifah Kindergarten in Yogyakarta, aged 4-6 years. Collecting data in this study by in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model with interactive analysis through data reduction, presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that spiritual-based entrepreneurship education in early childhood is an activity that can instill entrepreneurial values, increase the development of children’s religious and moral values, and form pious, honest, and challenging Muslim entrepreneurs. Spiritual activities that support entrepreneurship education at Khalifah Kindergarten Yogyakarta are alms after-market day activities, dhuha prayer, sunnah fasting, talking about the example of the prophet Muhammad as an honest entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship activities are in the form of playing activities in the classroom and outside the classroom, internal and external market days, outing classes to entrepreneurial places, and mosques. This research contributes to the understanding of entrepreneurship education in early childhood that combines entrepreneurship education with Tauhid education to instill entrepreneurial values and foster the spiritual development of early childhood to form spiritual entrepreneurs who are pious individuals and pious socially.

  • Arabic Language Education Program at Islamic Boarding School Ibnul Qoyyim
Putri Yogyakarta: Study of Code Mixing, Code Switching, and Interference

    • Authors: Muhajir, Siti Karomah
      Pages: 181 - 218
Abstract: This study aims to determine code-mixing, code-switching, and Arabic interference in the Arabic language education program at the Ibnul Qoyyim Putri Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta. It is based on two arguments; First, code-mixing, code-switching, and language interference are language “diseases” that are sociological and will be hereditary, especially in a particular program. So far, studies on sociolinguistics have separated code-mixing, code-switching, and interference, even though all three are interrelated. This study raises two issues: the forms of code-mixing, code-switching, and interference, and the causes of these three things. This research is qualitative research, with the methods used in this research being observation, interviews, and documentation. While the theory used is Fishman’s sociolinguistic theory of language in a socio-cultural context. The results of this study indicate that; First, code-switching that occurs in Arabic education programs  Pondok Pesantren Ibnul Qoyyim Putri Yogyakarta is a form of code-switching at the word and phrase level, while the code-mixing that occurs is at the word level. The interference that occurs includes phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic interference. Second, code-switching, mixing, and interference in Arabic language education programs are caused by the instructors’ lack of a correct model and inadequate mastery of Arabic theory.

  • Kyai’s Psychological Resilience in the Perspective of Pesantren:
           Lesson from Indonesia

    • Authors: Azam Syukur Rahmatullah
      Pages: 235 - 254
Abstract: This study focuses on exploring the experiences of the kyai who have founded a pesantren. Founding a pesantren can be interpreted as establishing, raising, and developing a pesantren. These activities, of course, lead to heavy psychological experiences. Although in the end, the kyai still did not step down from the struggle for the pesantren, whatever the challenges and obstacles they faced, their existence in developing resilience was increasingly strengthened. This study is field research using descriptive qualitative. The phenomenological approach is used in this study, which is an approach that pays more attention to the subjective experience of the individual. The setting of this study is the Tahfidzul Qur'an Al-Ma'ruf Pesantren in Kediri, East Java. The primary informant is Kyai Ahmad Fauzan Pujianto as the pesantren’s founder, developer, and caregiver. He has experienced firsthand the events during his time with the pesantren. The results of the study showed several findings, including the types of obstacles to the kyai, among others, receiving death threats, burned down residence, the access road to the house was closed, the recitation study was disbanded, receiving messages of witchcraft (santet), prejudice, and hate speech. The basic principles of the kyai’s resilience in facing these obstacles are as follows: it is mandatory to have the will and ability to annul all personal weaknesses, being free from mental blocking and toxic thoughts, self-function with an accuracy of view, and focusing on self-strength as a human being who is given the potential to develop. The kyai themselves have skills in developing their self-resilience, i.e., by learning ABCS, avoiding thinking traps, detecting icebergs, challenging beliefs, putting in perspective, calming, and focusing. Several factors affect the quality of the kyai’s resilience, including emotion regulation, impulse control, reaching out, a causal analysis. The benefits of this study are as a role model and as a form of self-preparation for (prospective) kyai to strengthen their mentality and self-resilience in facing any form of “tests and obstacles” when establishing, raising, and developing pesantren.

  • Gender Studies and Character Education Values in the Novel "A Cup of Tea":
           A Critical Discourse Analysis

    • Authors: Marjuni Marjuni, Adly Rosyad Fudhulul Ulwani
      Pages: 255 - 278
Abstract: This study aims to clarify that the novel "A Cup of Tea" by Gita Savitri Devi (GSD) can utilize a multidisciplinary approach to literary analysis using critical discourse analysis (CDA). This study poses three research questions: 1). Did the authors (GSD) link cyberbullying and the gender gap' 2). In the perspective of efforts to raise awareness about gender equality, how does GSD see the dangers of cyberbullying' 3). How can GSD's direct knowledge of the dangers of cyberbullying improve the struggle for gender equality' The CDA Qualitative Method was used to study "A Cup of Tea." Dijk's model uses a concept map to investigate literary works' structural and interactional paradigms. This study concludes that the writer's active and passive sentences have been examined. The structural paradigm includes the superstructure, macrostructure, and microstructure. This is complemented by some aesthetics that set the backdrop for the whole story. GSD's work is filled with anti-gender rhetoric and cyberbullying. Gita Savitri Devi is an outspoken advocate for women's rights. Women's emotional control must be exaggerated to show their work as skilled artists. GSD seems to be captivated by the future of Indonesia's young generation. The results of this study are very important to teach Indonesian youth about the dangers of cyberbullying and its relation to the issue of gender inequality. According to research, anti-cyberbullying strategies emphasize national character in online social interactions. The novel is useful as a media campaign against cyberbullying and the struggle for gender equality. Opportunities for further research on other types of literary works are urgently needed.

    • Authors: Sigit Purnama
      Pages: 279 - 298
Abstract: Digital storytelling is an important component of early childhood education (ECE) because it can help capture and expand their imagination. The purpose of this study was to explain early childhood teachers' beliefs about the use of digital storytelling in their classrooms. This research was conducted in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Phenomenological methods are used to understand and describe these phenomena and the essence of ECE teachers' experiences. The results showed that the experience of ECE teachers in learning using digital storytelling in the classroom had many benefits in improving the quality of learning. This study provides guidelines for ECE teachers on how technology can be integrated into children's learning activities using digital storytelling. The results of this study can also contribute to teachers to better understand the impact of using such technology to improve the development of technological literacy in early childhood education.
