  • Biometric Condition of Seurukan Fish (Osteochillus Vittatus Valenciennes,
           1842) Exposed to Mercury in Krueng Sabee River Aceh Jaya Indonesia

      Abstract: : Mercury is a dangerous contaminant for aquatic organisms. Seurukan fish (Osteochilus vittatus) is a type of fish in the Krueng Sabee river that is vulnerable to mercury exposure. The study's purposes were to investigate the effect of mercury on the biometric conditions of Seurukan Fish in the Krueng Sabee River, Aceh Jaya Regency. A total of 90 Seurukan fish consisting of 50 males and 40 females were collected from 3 research stations. The research stations represent the upstream area (Station 1), median river bodies (Station 2), and the downstream area (Station 3). Fish samples were taken from July to August 2019. The main parameters observed included class interval, sex ratio, length-weight relationship, condition factors, mercury concentration in sediment and liver, and hepatosomatic index. The results showed that the mercury content in the sediments of the Krung Sabee River were increased both spatially and temporally. Station 1, which is located in the upstream area, has the highest mercury content in the sediment was 6.278 ± 0.987 mg/kg. Mercury content in liver of Seurukan fish ranged from 0.182 ± 0.100 mg/kg to 0.198 ± 0.152 mg/kg. Mercury contamination in the Krueng Sabee river caused a decrease in biometric conditions of Seurukan Fish. Seurukan Fish exposed to mercury tended to have smaller size, an unbalanced sex ratio, low hepatosomatic index value, and negative allometric growth pattern.Abstrak: Merkuri merupakan salah satu jenis kontaminan berbahaya bagi organisme akuatik. Ikan seurukan (Osteochilus vittatus) merupakan salah satu jenis ikan di sungai Krueng Sabee yang rentan terpapar merkuri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh merkuri terhadap kondisi biometrikikan seurukan di sungai Krueng Sabee, Kabupaten Aceh Jaya. Sebanyak 90 ekor ikan Seurukan yang terdiri dari 50 ekor jantan dan 40 ekor betina dikoleksi dari 3 stasiun penelitian. Stasiun penelitian mewakili wilayah hulu (stasiun 1), badan sungai (stasiun 2) dan wilayah hilir (stasiun 3). Pengambilan  sampel ikan dilakukan pada bulan Juli hingga Agustus 2019. Parameter utama yang diamati meliputi selang kelas, nisbah kelamin dan hubungan panjang bobot ikan, faktor kondisi, konsentrasi merkuri pada sedimen dan hati serta indeks hepatosomatik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan merkuri di sedimen Sungai Krung Sabee mengalami peningkatan baik secara spasial dan temporal. Stasiun 1 yang terletak di wilayah hulu memiliki kandungan merkuri dalam sedimen paling tinggi yaitu sebesar 6,278 ± 0,987 mg/kg. Kandungan merkuri pada hati ikan seurukan di Sungai Krueng Sabee berkisar antara 0,182 ± 0,100 mg/kg hingga 0,198 ± 0,152 mg/kg. Kontaminasi merkuri pada sungai Krueng Sabee menyebabkan dampak negatif terhadap kondisi biometrik ikan seurukan. Ikan seurukan yang terpapar merkuri cenderung memiliki ukuran panjang dan bobot yang lebih kecil, nisbah kelamin yang tidak seimbang, dan nilai indeks hepatosomatik yang rendah serta pola pertumbuhan alometrik negatif.

  • Effect of Time and Voltage on Pollutant Remover in Gold Treatment
           Wastewater With Electrocoagulation Batch Reactor

      Abstract: : Wastewater from gold treatment by amalgamation has a high TSS value and heavy metal content in the form of Cu and Hg. This content can endanger the surrounding environment. Therefore, wastewater must be treated until it shows results below the permitted quality standards. Wastewater treatment is carried out using the batch reactor electrocoagulation method. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency value and optimal conditions by reducing the TSS, Cu, and Hg content in wastewater based on the effect of time (10 minutes) and voltage (4.5 volts, 6 volts, and 7.5 volts). The results of this calculation of the efficiency and analysis showed that the optimal conditions occurred at a voltage of 6 volts from the three parameters, there are TSS = 97.49%, Cu = 95.71%, and Hg = 98.95%. Based on the test results after treatment, the wastewater still needs to be treated until it is below the safe quality standard according to Government Regulation of Indonesia Republic No. 82 of 2001 class 4.Abstrak: Air limbah pencucian emas dengan metode amalgamasi memiliki nilai TSS yang tinggi dan kandungan logam berat berupa Cu dan Hg. Kandungan tersebut dapat membahayakan lingkungan sekitar. Oleh karena itu, air limbah harus diolah hingga menunjukkan hasil di bawah baku mutu yang diizinkan. Pengolahan air limbah dilakukan dengan metode elektrokoagulasi reaktor batch. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui nilai efisiensi dan kondisi optimal dengan mereduksi kandungan TSS, Cu, dan Hg pada limbah cair berdasarkan pengaruh waktu (10 menit) dan tegangan (4,5 volt, 6 volt, dan 7,5 volt). Hasil perhitungan efisiensi dan analisis ini menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimal terjadi pada tegangan 6 volt dari ketiga parameter yaitu TSS = 97,49%, Cu = 95,71%, dan Hg = 98,95%. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian setelah diolah, air limbah masih perlu diolah hingga berada di bawah baku mutu aman sesuai dengan PP RI No. 82 Tahun 2001 pada kelas 4

  • Evaluation of Antioxidant Activities From Ethyl Acetate Fraction of Curry
           Leaf Using DPPH Method

      Abstract: : Curry Plant (Murraya koenigii (Linn.) Spreng) is one of the plants that thrive in Indonesia. Curry contain secondary metabolites of alkaloids and flavonoids that have the potential as antioxidants. Antioxidants can reduce the activity of free radicals that can cause degenerative diseases such as cancer, coronary heart disease and premature ageing of body cells by donating the protons to free radical compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity and identify the active compound class of ethyl acetate fraction from curry leaves. Separation of secondary metabolites of ethyl acetate extracts was carried out by column chromatography method which obtained 5 different groups of fractions. The antioxidant activity of fraction A, B, C, D, and E was tested using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method with variations concentrations of 25, 50, 100, 200, and 400 ppm and ascorbic acid was used as a comparison which measured at a wavelength of 517 nm. The results showed that fraction A and E have weak antioxidant activities, while fraction B, C, and D showed moderate antioxidant activities. The highest antioxidant activity was found in fraction B with an IC50 value of 341.38 ppm where the fraction showed the presence of secondary metabolites of alkaloids and terpenoids.Abstrak: Tanaman kari ((Murraya koenigii (Linn.) Spreng) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang tersebar di Indonesia. Kari mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder alkaloid dan flavonoid yang memiliki potensi sebagai antioksidan. Antioksidan dapat mengurangi aktivitas radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan penyakit degeneratif seperti kanker, penyakit jantung coroner dan penuaan sel dengan cara menyumbangkan proton pada senyawa radikal bebas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan dan mengidentifikasi kelas senyawa aktif fraksi etil asetat dari daun kari. Pemisahan metabolit sekunder dari ekstrak etil asetat dilakukan menggunakan metode kromatografi kolom dengan menghasilkan 5 fraksi yang berbeda. Aktivitas antioksidan dari fraksi A, B, C, D, dan E dilakukan menggunakan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenil-2-pikrilhydrazil) dengan variasi konsentrasi 25, 50, 100, 200, dan 400 ppm dan asam askorbat digunakan sebagai perbandingan yang diukur pada panjang gelombang 517 nm. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa fraksi A dan E memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang lemah, sedangkan fraksi B, C, dan D menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan sedang. Aktivitas antioksidan yang paling tinggi ditemukan pada fraksi B dengan IC50 341,38 ppm. Fraksi tersebut menunjukkan adanya kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder alkaloid dan terpenoid.

  • The Computer Program Development to Determine The Shares of Inheritance
           for Three Types of Heir

      Abstract: : This research studied an Acehnese manuscript table about inheritance distribution. The purpose of the study was to create the general rules among the heir types in the table such that its share priorities were obtained. With the existence of these priorities, the relations among the portions were known which make it was possible to develop an algorithm and the computerized table for three types of the heir. This table consists of the shares for three types of an heir from the domain of ten types of heir selected in this research. The computer program was built by first determining the more important ones between the two related shares. From the total 120 cases investigated, four cases did not follow the developed priorities. The governing table for the three types of heir is expected to be the foundation to the determination of the shares for three types of the heir.Abstrak: Penelitian ini mengkaji isi sebuah tabel manuskrip Aceh tentang pembagian warisan sehingga didapatkan suatu ketentuan umum tentang prioritas dari bagian-bagian warisan tersebut.  Dengan adanya prioritas ini, diperoleh suatu hubungan antar bagian warisan sehingga dapat dibangun suatu algoritma untuk komputerisasi tabel bagian tiga jenis ahli waris. Tabel ini berisi bagian tiga jenis ahli waris dari sepuluh jenis ahli waris yang dipilih sebagai domain. Program komputer ini dibangun dengan menentukan bagian yang lebih diprioritaskan di antara dua bagian. Dari total 120 kasus, terdapat empat kasus yang tidak mengikuti prioritas yang telah dibangun. Hasil berupa tabel tiga jenis ahli waris ini diharapkan menjadi dasar untuk penentuan tiga jenis ahli waris dari seluruh jenis ahli waris yang berjumlah 30 tersebut.

The urgency of isolating β-carotene compounds because of their known anticancer activity. Namnam leaves are macerated using methanol, then combined with Trigona honey. Fractionation and isolation of β-carotene in combination samples were conducted out by chromatography method. The β-carotene was analyzed using UV-Vis and FTIR spectrophotometer. The cytotoxic activity test was conducted by using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method with mortality analysis using Probit Analysis with SPSS v20 and Lethal Concentration 50 (LC50) as parameters. The result showed that the cytotoxic activity of Trigona honey after combination reached 36.6% with an LC50 value of 168.2 ppm, an increase from the Trigona honey sample (LC50 = 265.2 ppm) and Namnam leaves extract (LC50 = 196.12 ppm). The highest cytotoxic activity belongs to the n-hexane fraction (LC50 = 77.6 ppm). The best eluent for β-carotene isolation is petroleum ether. There was increased cytotoxic activity in isolates (LC50 of 22.85 ppm). Isolates were analyzed by UV-Vis and FTIR and compared with standards compound. FTIR analysis results showed that the isolates had functional groups of -CH3 (v 2850-2960 cm-1), -CH3 aliphatic (v 1350-1470 cm-1), C=C (v 2100-2350 cm-1 and 675-870 cm-1), and C-O (v 1000-1300 cm-1). Thus, the combination of Trigona Honey and Namnam leaf extract can be developed as an alternative chemopreventive agent.Abstrak: Isolasi dan aktivitas sitotoksik β-karoten kombinasi madu trigona dan ekstrak daun namnam (Cynometra cauliflora) telah dilakukan. Urgensi mengisolasi senyawa β-karoten karena telah diketahui adanya aktifitas antikanker. Daun namnam dimaserasi menggunakan metanol, untuk kemudian dikombinasikan dengan madu trigona. Fraksinasi dan isolasi β-karoten pada sampel kombinasi dilakukan dengan metode kromatografi. Kandungan senyawa β-karoten dianalisis menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis dan FTIR. Uji aktifitas sitotoksik dilakukan dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) dengan analisis mortalitas menggunakan Probit Analysis dengan software SPSS v20 dan Lethal Concentration 50 (LC50) sebagai parameter. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas sitotoksik madu trigona setelah dikombinasikan mencapai 36,6 % dengan nilai LC50 sebesar 168,2 ppm, meningkat dari sampel madu trigona dengan (LC50 = 265,2 ppm), dan ekstrak daun namnam dengan (LC50 = 196,12 ppm). Aktifitas sitotoksik tertinggi dimiliki oleh fraksi n-heksana(LC50 = 77,6 ppm). Eluen terbaik untuk isolasi β-karoten adalah petroleum eter. Terjadi peningkatan aktifitas sitotoksik pada isolat hasil pemisahan (LC50 sebesar 22,85 ppm). Isolatdianalisis dengan UV-Vis dan FTIR dan dibandingkan dengan senyawa standar. Hasil analisa FTIR menunjukkan isolat memiliki gugus fungsi -CH3 (v 2850-2960 cm-1), -CH3 alifatik (v 1350-1470 cm-1), C=C (v 2100-2350 cm-1 dan 675-870 cm-1), dan C-O (v 1000-1300 cm-1).   • Treatment of Well Water Using Biosorbent Derived From Areca Fiber Waste

      Abstract: : The biosorption of well water using biosorbent from areca fiber waste of Jambi province has been performed to elevate well water quality. In environmental preservation, this research aimed to reduce a solid waste of areca fiber waste, which has only been burned so far. This activity would increase carbon emissions in the atmosphere. These materials were obtained using carbonizations (300 and 400 ֯C) and without carbonization. The proper material is used as a biosorbent was 400 C sized 200 mesh. The material showed several functional groups on the biosorbent surface, such as hydroxyl, amide, amine, and carbonyl. Interestingly, using this material, the water quality can be increased by treatments of odor, colour, pH, TDS, TSS, and E. coli under condition 50 ֯C, and 150 rpm for 30 minutes. The adsorption results were compared with the value from the standard of Permenkes No.146/Menkes/Per/IX/1990. Based on the explanation, it is resumed that biosorbent derived from areca fiber waste is effective, inexpensive, and easy to operate for increasing well water quality.
      Abstrak: Adsorpsi air sumur menggunakan biosorbent dari limbah sabut pinang Provinsi Jambi telah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas air sumur. Pada pelestarian lingkungan, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi limbah padat sabut pinang, yang selama ini hanya dibakar. Kegiatan ini akan meningkatkan emisi karbo ke atmosfir. Material-material ini diperoleh menggunakan karbonisasi (300 dan 400 ֯C) dan tanpa karbonisasi. Material yang tepat digunakan sebagai biosorben adalah 400 ֯C berukuran 200 mesh. Material ini memperlihatkan beberapa gugus fungsi pada permukaan biosorben,seperti hidroksil, amida, amina, dan karbonil. Menariknya, penggunaan material ini, kualitas air dapat ditingkatkan menggunakan treament aroma, warna, pH, TDS, TSS, dan E.Coli pada kondisi 1.25 gram biosorben, 50 ֯C, 150 rpm, dan selama 30 menit. Hasil adsorpsi dibandingkan dengan nilai standar Permenkes No.146/Menkes/Per/IX/1996. Berdasarkan penjelasan, hal ini disimpulkan bahwa biosorben dari limbah sabut pinang efektif, dan mudah untuk menggunakan untuk meningkatkan kualitas air sumur.

  • The Implementation of The Open Plan Concept in The Muslim Residential

      Abstract: : Muslims have to live based on Islamic values that include domestic activity in the dwelling. However, currently, people’s paradigm shifts towards modernism and also impacts the house’s preference. Architecturally, this condition is a challenge for the architect as there is a contradiction between Islamic and modern housing. One of the different principles is the closure in the Islamic dwelling and the exposure in the open-plan practice of modern residents. This research suggests how to practice the open-plan concept in Muslim residential without ignoring Islamic house principles. The research method is a descriptive qualitative which the primary data is obtained through the literature review. The open-plan concept is analyzed through the principles of Islamic dwelling. The finding shows that a semi-public area of Islamic houses such as a living room or a dining room can implement the open-plan concept. The house resident uses these rooms without providing physical and visual access to non-mahram relatives, thus maintaining family privacy. The practice implications are the increasing of natural lighting and natural air, the flexible space occupancy, and strengthening the family bonding.Abstrak: Muslim harus menjalani kehidupan berdasarkan ajaran Islam, termasuk kegiatan domestik di hunian. Namun, saat ini paradigma masyarakat berubah ke arah modern dan berdampak pada preferensi hunian. Secara arsitektur, kondisi ini merupakan tantangan bagi arsitek karena terdapat kontradiksi antara hunian Islami dan modern. Salah satu perbedaan prinsipnya adalah aspek privasi pada rumah Islami dan keterbukaan dalam bentuk open-plan di hunian modern. Penelitian ini menyarankan bagaimana menerapkan konsep open-plan pada hunian Muslim tanpa mengabaikan prinsip-prinsip rumah Islami. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dimana data primer diperoleh melalui studi literatur. Konsep open-plan dianalisa dari perspektif prinsip hunian Islami. Hasil temuan mengindikasikan konsep open-plan hanya dapat diterapkan pada area semi-publik di hunian Islami seperti ruang keluarga dan ruang makan. Hal ini dikarenakan ruang-ruang ini hanya digunakan oleh penghuni rumah tanpa menyediakan akses fisik dan visual pada tamu/kerabat non-mahram sehingga tetap menjaga privasi keluarga. Dampak penerapan konsep ini pada zona semi-publik adalah meningkatnya cahaya alami dan sirkulasi udara pada area tersebut, penggunaan ruang yang fleksibel dan menguatkan ikatan antar anggota keluarga.

  • The Endophytic Actinobacterial Toxicity Test of Ginger (Zingiber
           officinale Roscoe) Used The BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) Method

      Abstract: : Cancer is the biggest cause of death in Indonesia. Cancer treatment efforts have been made but have a negative impact on cancer patients. It is necessary to find another alternative from nature as an anticancer. This study aims to see the ability of endophytic actinobacterial isolates from ginger (Zingiber officinale) as an anticancer tested using the BSLT method (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) by calculating the values of LC50 and LT50. The best value isolates from the BSLT method, then tested using phytochemical ethanol extract The highest toxicity value was found in AJ2 isolates. LC50 and LT50 values of AJ2 isolates were 309.358 µg/ml and 11.879 hours. Phytochemical results of ethanol extract of AJ2 isolates were detected containing steroids, terpenoids, phenols, tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and saponins. AJ2 isolates derived from ginger endophytic actinobacteria have potential as anticancer because they have high toxic values in a short time.Abstrak: Kanker menjadi penyebab kematian terbesar di Indonesia. Upaya pengobatan kanker sudah dilakukan namun memberikan dampak negatif bagi penderita kanker. Perlu dilakukan penemuan alternatif lain berasal dari alam sebagai antikanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kemampuan isolat aktinobakteri endofit asal jahe (Zingiber officinale) sebagai antikanker. 7 isolat aktinobakteri endofit jahe diuji menggunakan metode BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) dengan menghitung nilai LC50 dan LT50. Isolat nilai terbaik dari metode BSLT, selanjutnya diuji  menggunakan fitokimia ekstrak etanol. Nilai toksisitas tertinggi terdapat pada isolat AJ2. Nilai LC50 dan LT50 isolat AJ2 adalah 309,358 µg/ml dan 11,879 jam. Hasil fitokimia ekstrak etanol isolat AJ2 terdeteksi mengandung steroid, terpenoid, fenol, tanin, flavonoid, alkaloid dan saponin. Isolat AJ2 yang berasal dari actinobacteria endofit jahe berpotensi sebagai antikanker karena memiliki nilai toksik yang tinggi dalam waktu singkat.

  • Mineralogical, Microstructural and Compressive Strength Characterization
           of Fly Ash as Materials in Geopolymer Cement

      Abstract: : This study was designed to examine the mineral, microstructural, and mechanical strength properties of fly ash and its feasibility as a raw material for geopolymer cement. The study used an experimental method by examining the characteristics of fly ash by X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (XRF), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), hydrometer method, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and compressive strength testing. For creating the geopolymer cement paste, a concentration of NaOH 10M was used, with a ratio of water/solid =0.4 and a ratio of Na2SiO3/NaOH = 1 using curring at room temperature. The results showed the geopolymer pastes have a compressive strength of 18.1 MPa and 21.5 MPa after 7 days and 28 days. The XRD results showed a decrease in the peak of 2θ at 26.54° because the amorphous part had transformed into a C-S-H solution in geopolymer cement. This finding was supported by the FTIR spectra results showing Si-O-Si bending vibration and the functional group of AlO2. It showed that Nagan Raya fly ash-based geopolymer is a potential construction material.Abstrak: Penelitian ini dirancang untukmendapatkan sifat mineral, mikrostruktural, dan kekuatan mekanis dari fly ash serta kesesuaiannya sebagai material dasar pada semen geopolimer. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan cara  menguji karakteristik dari fly ash dengan pengujian X-ray Fluorescense Spectrometer (XRF), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectoscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), hydrometer method, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) dan kuat tekan.  Untuk pembuatan pasta semen geopolimer digunakan konsentrasi NaOH 10M, rasio water/solid 0,4 dan rasio Na2SiO3/NaOH = 1 dengan perawatan pada suhu kamar. Hasil menunjukkan setelah 7 hari pasta geopolimer memiliki kuat tekan 18.1 MPa dan 21,5 MPa pada 28 days. Hasil XRD menunjukkan adanya penurunan puncak 2θ pada 26,54° ini disebabkan karena bagian amorf dari fly ash telah menjadi larutan C-S-H pada semen geopolimer. Hasil ini diperkuat dengan analisis FTIR spectra yang menunjukkan adanya Si-O-Si bending vibration dan gugus fungsi dari AlO2. Hasil menunjukkan fly ash dari Nagan Raya potensial sebagai bahan material konstruksi berbasis geopolimer.
