  • Transforming of Conventional Type Squirrel Cage Induction Motor to
           Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for Improving Efficiency on Industrial
           Applications

      Abstract: The increasing of world population, forced human beings to produce clean energy, more creative solutions have been developed to use the energy with most efficient way. Researches on this topic still working today. Nowadays, new electrical machines are invented and the currently used ones are being continue to be improved. In industry, if a survey is made according to use of electric motors, it will be seen that, induction motors used in industry average eighty percent. When viewed from the efficiency and energy quality of the interconnected system, increasing efficiency of induction motors will provide advantages for the production, transmission, distribution systems and the network. On the other hand, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) have not windings on rotor core and much more efficient than induction motors. In this way PMSMs will save the company from spending unnecessary energy. For this reason, in this study, an industrial conventional type squirrel cage induction motor (SCIM) has been converted into a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for improve the overall efficiency. For improving the efficiency in design and production, induction motor’s stator core will not change. Only squirrel cage rotor core of induction motor will change with PMSM in rotor design production stage. As a result of this conversion, various electromechanical parameters have changed and improved. Electromechanical modification process has been provide better energy density and power density for this motor. As a result of the research, the cost of modification process will be amortized in usage. In this way, conventional type induction motor (IM) that dominates the vast majority of the industry is converted into PMSM, it is seen that energy efficiency and energy quality will increase.

  • Anomaly Diagnosis Using Autoencoder in Edge Computing Systems

      Abstract: IoT systems operate in a traditional cloud-connected architecture. The data generated on IoT devices is transferred to the cloud, stored there, and then processed, trying to extract meaningful information. However, in this preferred structure, the disadvantages of being constantly dependent on the cloud are quite high. While transferring each piece of information raw to the cloud increases network traffic, it requires high hardware power to process data only at the cloud layer. UBISOKKAT (Anomaly Diagnosis Using Automatic Encoder in Edge Computing Systems) system has emerged as a solution to the problems mentioned above. The UBISOKKAT system acts as an intermediate layer between IoT systems and cloud systems. Every data generated at IoT points is first sent to the UBISOKKAT system in the middle layer, where it is transmitted to the cloud layer. The machine learning model is then placed in the cloud tier and begins to train itself using the data it receives from the middleware. The outputs of the model whose training process is completed are sent to the UBISOKKAT system and the automatic encoder is run in the middleware software, not in the cloud. The biggest advantage of this is that in real-time systems, data is not sent to the cloud but analyzed at local points, reducing network traffic and reducing latency. At the same time, since not every data is analyzed in the cloud, it is analyzed at local points, reducing the need for the cloud, reducing high costs and increasing the viability of the system. In this study, an automatic encoder model was operated in the last layer and it was seen that the UBISOKKAT system could diagnose anomalies at the extreme points based on the data obtained from the single-phase electric motor.

  • PID Control Medium Size Wind Turbine Control with Integrated Blade Pitch
           Angle

      Abstract: Due to the increase in electricity consumption in the world, the tendency to increase resource diversity in the electricity generation section has increased. With the decrease in the reserves of petroleum and derivative products used in traditional energy production systems, energy production has turned to renewable energy sources. Examples of renewable energy sources are the sun, wind turbines, and fuel cells. In order to provide sustainable energy production in wind turbines, the blades and body must be protected. In this study, the blade pitch angle control of the wind turbine is realized with the PID controller and the wind turbine is protected from high speeds. The coefficient control of the PID controller is determined by the PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and Ziegler Nichols method. Simulation was carried out in MATLAB/Simulink environment. It has been observed that the PID coefficient parameters optimized with PSO in the pitch angle control process reach the reference power value in a shorter time compared to the PID parameter values calculated with Ziegler Nichols. In addition, it was observed that the oscillation value was less at the reference power reached and the pitch angle increased.

  • Multi-Criteria Analysis of Site Selection for Pasture Improvement:
           Provincial Example

      Abstract: The importance of meadows and pastures and their share in the agricultural sector are increasing significantly. Meadows and pastures are the cheapest and easiest sources to obtain quality roughage. Meadows and pastures are the cheapest and main feed sources for livestock in Turkey. Considering that sheep ang goats and cattle breeding is carried out intensively in our country, the importance of these areas becomes more evident. Therefore, it is very important to develop an effective and sustainable pasture system. In this context, it is aimed to analyse the adequacy of pasture capacities of a province based on general, district and village and to determine the places where pasture management should be applied first. To find pasture capacity adequacy, AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) based TOPSIS (Preference sorting technique according to similarity to ideal solution) method is used for grazing capacity formulation and for priority improvement areas. It was observed that the results obtained are consistent and are applied on a real given case study.

  • Focusing on the Structural, Electronic, Optic and Elastic Behaviours of
           RhBiSe Compound by Ab initio Calculations

      Abstract: Some physical features such as structural, electronic, optic and elastic of RhBiSe compound were investigated theoretically by Density Functional Theory within Generalized Gradient Approximation. The lattice parameter, total ground state energy, bond types and lengths were calculated in the structural features frame. Focusing on the electronic properties has shown that RhBiSe is a semiconductor with an indirect band gap. The density of states and partial density of states were also demonstrated. Fundamental optic features obtained and it is noticed that RhBiSe is very convenient for the optical application areas such as optoelectronic devices. It was also exhibited that RhBiSe is a fragile material. The calculations on elastic features also revealed that RhBiSe is a mechanically stable, elastically anisotropic material with a high thermoelectric conductivity property.
