  • Cloud Adoption in HEIs: A Multi-Theoretical Framework Integrating TOE,
           TRA, and FVT

    • Authors: Abdulsalam K. Alhazmi
      Pages: 1 - 10
Abstract: This study aims to rigorously explore cloud computing adoption in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) by applying a detailed analytical framework. This integrates the Technology Organization Environment (TOE) Theory, the Theory of Reasoned Action, and the Fit Viability Theory to holistically examine the factors influencing such adoption, and, as such, the research uniquely emphasises the interplay between technological capabilities, organisational readiness, and environmental factors, as well as taking into account the critical aspect of cultural fit within HEIs. By synthesising these theoretical perspectives, the study provides a comprehensive understanding of the adoption process, highlighting the nuanced interactions between technology, organisation, and the broader educational environment. This approach facilitates the development of a deeper insight alongside the development of valuable guidance for effective implementation and integration strategies. The findings of this study are thus significant for educational policymakers and administrators, providing a robust framework for them to navigate the complexities of modernising educational infrastructure by applying cloud computing technologies.

Blockchain, Metaverse, and Artificial General Intelligence

    • Authors: Farhang M Hamzah
      Pages: 31 - 36
Abstract: This paper explores the transformative dynamics within the digital social economy, focusing on the intersection of Blockchain technology, the Metaverse, and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Our research illuminates the pathways and implications of this confluence, presenting a comprehensive view of its potential to reshape economic, social, and technological landscapes. We propose a multifaceted framework integrating these technologies, highlighting their collective potential to revolutionize the digital social economy. Methodologically, we combine extensive analysis of existing literature and current market data with qualitative interviews with industry experts in blockchain, virtual reality, and AGI. Our findings reveal that blockchain serves as the backbone for secure and transparent transactions, essential for trust in virtual interactions. The Metaverse emerges as a transformative platform for social and economic engagement, while AGI drives intelligent, adaptive, and personalized experiences within these digital realms. We identify critical challenges, such as platform interoperability, ethical considerations in AGI deployment, and the digital divide hindering equitable access. We propose strategic solutions, emphasizing robust governance frameworks, ethical AI development standards, and inclusive policies. This paper provides strategic insights for stakeholders, offering a visionary perspective for future innovation and policy development in the evolving digital social economy.

  • Electronic properties of armchair & zigzag single-walled carbon
           nanotubes

    • Authors: Zina A. Al Shadidi, Rana Hamood, Samia Jamal
      Pages: 37 - 44
Abstract: This paper investigates the role of chirality and its impact on the electronic band structure in armchair and zigzag single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Simulating electronic band gaps for single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with various chiral indices has been done by using the tight-binding model.  The increase in chirality results in an increase in the total number of bands in the electronic band structure. A study was conducted on the band gap at Fermi energy (E=0) and it was found that the electronic band structure in armchair and zigzag (SWCNTs) can be either metallic or semiconductor depending on chirality. The diameter of the tube and the band gap value are also provided. The effect of variations in the CNT channel length and oxide thickness on the gate capacitance and drain current of a single CNT have been analyzed.  The results suggest that the simulated values are consistent with the theoretical values thus validating the results.

  • Correlation of the Socio-Demographic Variables to Travel Behaviour and
Mode Choice in Cities of Least Developed Countries- Case Study, Urban
           Neighbourhoods in Aden, Yemen

    • Authors: Abdulnasser Abdulla Al-Kaderi, Suha Yaseen Abdulkarem Ali
      Pages: 53 - 72
Abstract: This case study focuses on the city of Aden, Yemen, where a large segment of the population relies on the semi-formal public transportation due to various sociodemographic and economic factors. The study specifically investigates the inner urban area of Al Mansoura in Aden. To understand travel behavior and mode choice in this area, the research employs a mixed methodology that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches through a case study design. Primary data about the area of interest were collected through field observations, interviews, questionnaires, GIS mapping, and street audits. In addition, a novel mapping of the semi-formal transportation lines was produced for the first time in the city. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed using statistical analysis methods. The results indicate a correlation between sociodemographic variables and travel behavior and mode choice, particularly in terms of income and gender. Low-income individuals tend to use public transport, while those with higher incomes prefer private vehicles. Additionally, females generally drive less than males and generally have less mobility due to cultural and educational factors; fewer responsibilities outside the home. However, a small number of females who use private vehicles tend to work.
