  • Initial study of a chatbot for virtual modality students from the
           Inter-American School of Librarianship

The inclusion of ICT (TIC for the Spanish acronyms) in education has generated various challenges, among them the distorted imagery of what the virtual modality implies and means; the use of platforms and the appropriation of logistical, academic and administrative processes. In this context, various questions arise from students who think it is an imperative to provide clear answers timely. Even more so, when these students belong to the field of study of information and recognize that the transfer of information contributes to the optimization of communication processes, specifically in training environments. This is why this article will report on a research experience whose main objective was to design a proposal for a virtual assistant that allowed solving the doubts of archival and library students in the virtual modality of the Inter-American School of Library Science -EIB- of the University of Antioquia, in order to optimize communication processes between students and those who coordinate the dynamics of virtuality in the institution. Such research process was based on the design thinking methodology that favored a state of empathy with the academic community which made it possible to identify the most recurrent concerns of students and their respective main thematic categories. In this sense, this was an initial exploratory and descriptive study that managed to obtain information which will serve as input for a next phase of development of a virtual assistant for the EIB.

  • Information and memory in the dictatorial documents availability interface

Abstract With the premise of access to information as a public right, and considering the social role of remembering the traumatic historical events that were the Latin American dictatorships, this research aims to analyze, from the perspective of Information Science, the availability of digital collections of truth commissions in southern Brazil. The methodological approach was a qualitative research related to the selection and study of these collections, descriptive in the analysis of their availability and access, and exploratory through data collection. Based on a theoretical contribution around the binomial information and memory, aspects such as forgetting and memory virtualization were explored. In the applied bias, the stage in which these collections are organized and their actual availability to the public were investigated. As a result, the research exposes two cases of effective systems for making information available in cyberspace, however, it also points out situations of restriction or difficulty in accessing the other collections analyzed. It is concluded that there is a deficiency in making most of these files available to the public, demonstrating the need to make their contents accessible, especially in digital format, in order to preserve the memory and enable the proper problematization of these historical sources.

  • The dissemination of scholarly publications in Humanities: The case of the
           University of León

Abstract The dissemination of scholarly publications has become a new task for researchers. In addition to the traditional channels, other new ones have emerged to make this kind of publications known to the rest of the scientific community, such as academic social networks, author identifiers or institutional repositories. In this article, it is compared the use made by researchers in the Humanities area of the University of León of five platforms for the dissemination of scientific production: ORCID, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Academia.edu and the institutional repository of the University of León. The presence of researchers on these platforms and the scientific production deposited or linked to their profile are analyzed. A large presence of these researchers is observed in ORCID and in the institutional repository, although, in many cases, their profiles are incomplete and outdated. Their presence in academic social networks is lower and the profiles created do not include all the scientific production of their authors. However, to deposit copies in open access, researchers prefer social networks to institutional repositories. It is necessary to promote the use of platforms for the dissemination of scientific production, especially institutional repositories, with the library being a key agent in this task.

  • Proposal for a Virtual Program in Library Science and Information Studies
for the University of La Salle, Bogotá-Colombia

Abstract The general objective of this article is to present the proposal of a Virtual Program in Library Science and Information Studies for the Universidad de La Salle in Bogotá-Colombia. This proposal was generated as a result of a curricular research-innovation process, carried out to be in tune with the current trends that arise in the library discipline and profession and, in a particular way, the proposals related to the training processes in this field of education. knowledge. The methodology considered the triangulation of sources and information that was derived from the application of different research techniques: comparison of similar academic programs, survey carried out on an intentional-focused sample and guidelines indicated by the Ministry of National Education of Colombia and the University of La Salle for virtual programs. The conclusions raise the need to offer academic programs in this field of knowledge and under the virtual modality, as a strategy to expand educational coverage and socio-formative inclusion, for achieving the generation of library education alternatives that are required not only in Colombia, but in Latin America.

  • Rethinking the photographic object, an approach from the Affect Theory

Abstract The present work explores the affective features that are imprinted on the photographic object, as well as on the collections which they are integrated to in its evolution over time. In this framework, it nourishes from the tools of the “affective turn” to open an analysis of the photographic object to identify elements that broaden the information horizon, which is used in arranging and conserving collections in repositories. The exercise focuses on two photographs of the Aurelio Robles Acevedo Fond that keeps the Historical Archive of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and analyses them considering the proposal of Ann Cvetkovich in An Archive of Feelings and of Sara Ahmed in The Cultural Politics of Emotion, which insist on studying archives from slightly distanced perspectives that identify them as cultural texts receiving feelings encoded in the content or, like a “contact zone” that includes imprints of institutional and personal nature.

  • The Mudéjar bindings of the Morales by Saint Gregory of the
           National Library of Spain

El análisis de los datos nos indica que fueron realizadas en el mismo taller y en la misma época, y fueron adquiridas por la Biblioteca Nacional de España a finales de 2017.Abstract Spanish, European and Latin American libraries contain in their antique collections numerous bindings of Arabic influence that have not been studied, as is the case of such important libraries as the National Libraries of Spain, Mexico and Colombia, among others. This paper studies the Mudéjar bindings of the Morals on the Book of Job by Saint Gregory, from the Biblioteca de la Casa de Alba. An analysis is carried out of the decorative structure, as well as of the elements, tools and ornamental techniques. The analysis of the data indicates that they were made in the same workshop and at the same time, and were acquired by the National Library of Spain at the end of 2017.

  • Digital documents and Archival Legislation: the case of Mexico and Cuba

Abstract The Documentary Heritage of a nation has a strong component of digital documents that is generated today in public administration. Its management, treatment and access to this documentary specificity are subject to regulation and protection by law. The archival laws of Latin America have in these supports an inescapable challenge. Mexico (2018) and Cuba (2020) are the most contemporary legal bodies and they already evoke these records. With this premise, the objective of this article is to comparatively analyze the legal regulations of digital documents, based on the Archival Legislation of Mexico and Cuba, in order to obtain conclusive assessments that serve as a norm for the Latin American territory. The methodology and techniques used were those inherent to the theoretical-legal field, comparative, analytical-deductive and technical analysis of legal documents. An evaluative comparison of both corpus was obtained regarding this object of protection and recommendations are inferred, in this sense for Latin America. It was concluded that digital documents are an indissoluble part of the Documentary Heritage; the Mexican and Cuban position of legal protection of the digital document and its archive, in a normative spirit, is not to contemplate the support.

  • Information Culture in higher education context: theoretical contributions

Process of analyzing and understanding its complexity refers to its study from different perspectives; given the multidisciplinarity that characterizes it. The purpose of this paper is to provide theoretical contributions to the field of study on IC in educational field, specifically from higher education level and approach of access and use of information. Conceptual analysis was carried out with qualitative methodology, which allowed to identify semantic elements generated from organizational context and how these were inserted in educational environment. Constant comparison method (MCC) was used from theoretic integration of creative intellectual field (CIC). Results confirm some elements that went from organizational to higher education learning processes, where these institutions are responsible for implementing strategies for development of skills in access and use of information as vital components of IC. Additionally, value of information as intellectual capital is argued and it is established as a conclusion that, implementation of IC emerges from generation of intellectual capital and the fact that this is monitored and measured or quantified in systematic way, it can be affirmed that there is a consolidated IC.

  • Approaches to the study of podcast as a born digital sound document

Abstract The golden age of the sound podcast is how the second decade of the 21st century is described. • Reading as a strategy for social inclusion in book fairs in the State of
           Mexico

Abstract The research aims to analyze reading as a strategy for social inclusion in book fairs in the State of Mexico to have a panorama that makes visible the realities in relation to the subject. It was carried out from a qualitative approach, which allowed to analyze, within the book fairs, the following three categories: physical space, commercialization and activities, in order to have an interpretive vision towards the object of study. As part of the results, it can be affirmed that reading as a social inclusion strategy in the book fairs of the State of Mexico gradually begins to be glimpsed in certain actions that were observed from the three aforementioned categories, however this manifestation seems to be temporarily. It is fundamentally the commercial part to which the greatest weight is attributed and this can be seen from the planning that supports them since each fair is organized according to an exhibitors manual where the productive and economic part prevails, leaving aside the fair as a cultural space that serves to achieve, among other things, that reading fosters social inclusion.
