  • Wer steuert hier wen und was' Die Übersetzung von Paradoxien in
           Schulentwicklungsprozessen

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag in der Zeitschrift „Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.

  • Both/And Leadership: Führungskompetenzen im Kontext organisationaler
           Spannungsfelder und Paradoxien

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag der Zeitschrift „Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Am 7. und 8.

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag in der Zeitschrift „Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag in der Zeitschrift „Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag in der Zeitschrift „Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.

  • Twin transition in practice

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract This article in the journal “Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation (GIO)” addresses the twin transition—the simultaneous transition to a more sustainable and digitalized society—in organizations and asks how using digital technologies can promote employee green behavior (EGB). Since EGB in an intra-organizational context is often based on psychological ownership (PO) and perceived organizational support for the environment (POSE), we argue that using digital technologies can promote EGB indirectly via fostering PO and POSE. In this respect, we identify the essential features that digital technologies must possess to advance the two mediating constructs introduced and argue that the relation between digital technologies, PO, and POSE is moderated by technology acceptance. As a result, we provide a theory-based framework on the link between EGB and digital technologies, identify key characteristics digital technologies should possess to (indirectly) promote EGB, and derive practical recommendations for organizations and decision-makers to improve organizational sustainability and promote the twin transition in practice.

  • Overcoming complexity – Research through Design und Backcasting als
komplementäre Ansätze zur Antizipation von nachhaltigeren Zukünften

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Der Beitrag in der Zeitschrift „Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation.

  • Emotion regulation of sustainability professionals facing adversity

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract In this Group. Interaction. Organizations. (GIO) article, we view Norwegian regenerative farmers as sustainability professionals and explore their emotions and emotion regulation strategies as they face adversity at work. Working with sustainability is intense work as it implies addressing economic, sustainability, and social needs. Regenerative farmers experience heightened stress and strains due to limited resources in farming. We did a qualitative study based on participant observation and interviews and found that regenerative farmers reported emotions such as guilt, pride, frustration, joy, sadness, and loneliness in their work. They regulated their emotions by a) redefining and accepting problems as challenges; b) creating meaning from their work; c) seeking community through exchange of knowledge and care; and d) protecting their philosophy and practice. This study identifies how sustainability professionals might regulate their emotions over transitions to more sustainable practices. We found that it is essential to facilitate social connections between sustainability professionals for their wellbeing, and mental health.

  • A question of norms and control—factors shaping sustainable energy
behavior: a study among various university stakeholders

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract This paper in the journal Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation. presents a study that uses a subgroup approach to investigate which factors, based on the theory of planned behavior, influence energy saving behavior at a medium-sized university in Germany and whether there are differences between the subgroups. The focus will be on the largest groups within the university (i.e., academic staff, administrative/technical staff and students). For this purpose, multi-group SEM is calculated in two independent cross-sectional samples (t1: N = 1714, t2: N = 1289) collected 2.5 years apart. In addition, a third, independent longitudinal sample (N = 189) was used to examine the causal effects of the theoretical model. The empirical findings partially reveal that injunctive social norms significantly predicted personal norms across subgroups and in both cross-sectional samples, while descriptive social norms negatively influenced personal norms only among the subgroup students. Personal norms and perceived behavioral control positively influenced energy-saving intentions across all subgroups in both cross-sectional samples. Regarding actual behavior, energy-saving intentions significantly predicted behavior across groups and time. The results are largely confirmed in the longitudinal sample. The findings show that subgroup analyzes in the organizational context can provide additional insights, but that overall the context of the organization seems to be significant for all organizational members regardless of the subgroup, as predominantly similar relationships were found between the variables under consideration in three independent samples.

  • Driving sustainability in organizations: polymathic responsible leadership
           and circular economy

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract Issues around environmental sustainability have significantly increased in importance in both management practice and scholarship. One approach to address these is the transformative concept of the circular economy, which offers an alternative to traditional models of production and consumption. With organizations starting to adopt circular economy models and principles, the pivotal role of leaders in reshaping organizational practices from linear to circular approaches has begun to emerge. In this paper we introduce a novel perspective on responsible leadership emphasizing the need for a polymathic approach to address sustainability and apply this to the context of the circular economy. Viewing responsibility in leadership through a meta-taxonomy of effective leadership orientations, we apply our framework to a case study and illustrate its usefulness in guiding research and practice in the area of sustainability within organizations.

  • Explaining sustainable purchase behavior in online flight
booking—combining value-belief-norm model and theory of planned behavior

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract This article of the journal Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation. focuses on the factors that influence CO2 offsetting behavior when booking flights. By combining the Value Belief Norm model (VBN) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), the study investigates which factors generally influence people’s willingness and behavior to make CO2 offsets for air travel. In addition, a concrete booking process is used to experimentally test how high the actual willingness to pay is in this situation and how much it depends on the representation. An online survey with a partially experimental design yielded 514 usable data sets. The results of the structural equation model essentially confirmed the assumptions of the VBN and TPB theories regarding the influence on compensation behavior, with the personal norm being the most important influencing factor. However, the specific fictitious booking process revealed the special role of price: the cheapest compensation packages always had the highest choice probabilities, and absolute price did not play a role. This was confirmed in qualitative analyses. The results expand previous knowledge on factors influencing CO2 compensation behavior and provide flight providers with important information for designing their CO2 compensation offers.

  • HR analytics between ambition and reality

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract This exploratory study in the Journal “Group. Interaction. Organization” investigated the degree of implementation and the benefits of HR Analytics in Switzerland. As part of the study, 133 companies were surveyed. In addition, 12 interviews were conducted to obtain more in-depth insights into the core results. The results show that the majority of companies are still primarily doing backward-looking descriptive data analytics. Furthermore, there is a gap between expectations and actual achievements associated with HR Analytics. The interviews make it clear that data quality and the necessary competences are key challenges in terms of implementation. In order to achieve greater benefits with HR Analytics, the insights gained should lead to the implementation of measures and clearer reference to business-relevant parameters. Therefore, fully realizing the high potential of HR Analytics will require additional effort. In the discussion section, we consider the current literature and, based on our results, derive practical implications for a better establishment of HR Analytics. We also discuss the potential of Work and Organizational Psychology to shape the rapidly growing field of HR Analytics.

  • Synergies between recovery from work and restorative environments for
sustainable development: an integrative theoretical perspective

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract In this theoretical article for Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation. (GIO), we elaborate on the contribution of recovery from work research to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For this, we first briefly review theoretical and empirical knowledge on both recovery from work and restorative environments, and afterward we extend the existing framework on recovery from work by integrating physical environments. Second, we derive practical implications for organizations and policymakers and summarize the synergies of this theoretical integration for achieving the SDGs. In particular, we elaborate on reducing environmental demands and enhancing environmental resources, for example via biophilic design, as promising strategy for achieving the SDGs. We conclude with recommendations for future research on recovery from work and SDGs.

  • Towards achieving the sustainable development goals: a collaborative
action plan leveraging the circular economy potentials

    • Free pre-print version: Loading...

Abstract: Abstract This contribution to the journal “Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation. (GIO)” delves into the critical role of Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17), “Partnership for the Goals,” in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to further circular economy objectives. Aiming to address the existing research focus on isolated technical aspects within the circular economy, this study uses an expertise- and interaction-based foresight process to integrate perspectives from business, engineering, social sciences, and work and organizational psychology to unearth broader, interconnected challenges and solutions for the implementation of circular economy practices. Based on the pooled experience of experts within the foresight process, this contribution elucidates major challenges, ongoing issues, and prospective hurdles to be tackled by 2030 in circular economy, presenting an action plan centered on interdisciplinary cooperation and stakeholder engagement to advance labor conditions and continuous learning, sustainable and regenerative systems, minimize waste, and optimize resource efficiency. The collaborative action plan serves as a pivotal resource for the transformation task for researchers and practitioners, offers insights and strategic directions for implementing circular economy practices, and emphasizes collective responsibility and action in achieving global sustainability, all while aligning with the principles of SDG 17. The presented collaborative approach propels the discourse on sustainability forward, highlighting the potential of the circular economy in realizing a more sustainable world by 2030.
