  • Narasi Korban Perkosaan pada Pemberitaan di Media Daring RRI Samarinda:
Analisis Wacana Kritis Model Sara Mills

    • Authors: Nina Queena Hadi Putri, Firstya Evi Dianastiti, Sumarlam Sumarlam
      Pages: 1 - 12
Abstract: Cases of violence against children in the East Kalimantan region have reached 1,386 complaints since 2019. Through critical discourse, it can be seen how the language of the media conveys information to readers through the emphasis on actors positioned in the text. This qualitative descriptive research emphasizes documentary analysis by reviewing published written sources, namely the news entitled “Kisah Pilu Korban Pemerkosaan Dipaksa Menikah dengan Pelaku”. Based on the discourse strategy used by the author, it can be seen that this “heartbreaking story of a rape victim” becomes the object of the story. It is evidenced by the use of markers such as a child, sexual violence, forced marriage, rape, exacerbating trauma, and the victim getting worse. The news is presented based on events that emerged because of the description of other actors as the storyteller's subject, not based on the victim's information about what he experienced. The news text reveals a picture of the position of the subject and the object of the story so that it can determine the way the text is presented to the reader. The news text contains a gender bias because the incident is not told from the perspective of women as victims.

      Pages: 13 - 30
Abstract: This experimental research was motivated by a problem in learning Indonesian: the low score of students' learning outcomes in writing procedural texts. Based on this, this research was conducted to know the effect of the Example Non Example learning model and learning motivation on the skills of writing procedure text. The samples of this study were students in grade 7-I (experimental class) and grade 7-H (control class) at MTs Negeri 4 Pasaman Barat for the academic year 2020/2021. The data of this research are the score of the learning motivation questionnaire and the test scores for writing procedural text writing skills in the experimental and control classes. The final results of this study indicate that the Example Non Example learning model has a good effect on the writing skills of the seventh-grade students of MTs Negeri 4 Pasaman Barat. It can be seen from the scores of students' procedural text writing skills taught using the Example Non Example cooperative learning model better than students taught using conventional learning models. Furthermore, there is also an interaction between the Example Non-Example learning model and learning motivation so that students can write procedure texts better.

  • Strategi Penerjemahan Ujaran Makian Bahasa Prancis dalam Film Banlieue 13
           Karya Pierre Morel

    • Authors: Noor Diana Arrasyid, Sajarwa Sajarwa, Wulan Tri Astuti
      Pages: 31 - 48
Abstract: This study aims to identify the strategies through which French-language profanity is translated into Indonesian by using a corpus of data drawn from the dialogues of the French film Banlieue 13 and its Indonesian subtitles. The data were collected through certain steps started with watching the film, noting each use of French-language profanity and its Indonesian translation, then classifying those data based on Davoodi's proposed categories of profanity translation strategies. This study finds that four strategies were used for translating French profanity to Indonesian: censorship (as in the term 'bordel', which was left untranslated), substitution (as in the term 'putain', translated as 'astaga'), taboo (as in the term 'merde', translated as 'sial'), and also euphemism (as in the term 'merde', translated as 'hal buruk'). Furthermore, the result shows that both French and Indonesian language profanity is often used in reference to situations and occupations considered taboo in society.

  • Kepribadian Tokoh Hosie dalam Cerita Pendek Hana no Warutsu

    • Authors: Fajar Dwi Ariyadi
      Pages: 83 - 100
Abstract: The short story of Hana no Warutsu by Kawataba Yasunari has the theme of a dancer's fear, love of dance, and body defects that make the dancer's dream disappear. This study aims to conduct a psychological analysis to reveal the state of Hosie's character. This research method uses qualitative descriptive techniques in analyzing the psychological condition of the Hosie with the approach of Medrad Boss's existential psychological theory. The research procedure used in this study is to determine the material object, disclose research data, and analyze Hosie's character in the short story of Hana no Warutsu. The results showed that Hosie was gifted with talent and a deep love for dance but denied it. He was afraid to get too caught up in the dance, so he tried to run away by stopping dancing. This escape makes his life inauthentic, and his existence shrinks. When he saw the dance, his existence pushed him to dance, causing him to be unable to control himself.

  • Konstruksi Hubungan Alam dan Manusia melalui Kerangka Maskulinitas
Ekologis dalam Film Jungle (2017): Ekokritik Sastra

    • Authors: Nuril Rinahayu, Bayu Kristianto
      Pages: 101 - 118
Abstract: This study examines the construction of the human-nature relationship in the Jungle (2017) movie. Jungle movie presents the mindset and behavior of men through four male characters (Yossi, Marcus, Kevin, and Karl) towards the wild (wilderness) as a masculinity framework. Using a qualitative method with an ecocriticism approach, especially related to ecological masculinity by Hultman and Pulé, this study shows how the construction of human-nature relationships through masculinity framework presents ecological masculinity as a form of hegemonic masculinity negotiation. The analysis focuses on two aspects of film studies: narrative and cinematographic by Bogss and Petrie. The results of this study indicate that in the depiction of nature through the Amazon Forest, nature is positioned as something dangerous, wild, scary, and capable of killing humans. Therefore, nature is represented as an entity that dominates humans. However, men's mindset and behavior towards nature present the illusion of a human versus nature dichotomy; in this case, the Jungle movie tries to present a critique of anthropocentrism. In addition, the mindset and behavior of male characters toward nature represent male masculinity models, especially ecological masculinity, as an alternative to hegemonic masculinity.

    • Authors: Faridah Eriyaningsih, Hariyadi Hariyadi, Agus Nuryatin
      Pages: 153 - 162
Abstract: Life in the New Normal era makes adjustments in education. When the situation was still in a pandemic, learning was carried out fully online, now we had to switch to face-to-face learning, but it is still limited. This study aims to explain the assumption of using a blended learning model implemented using Simpel-12 in the New Normal era. The method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Participants in this study were representatives of students at SMAN 12 Semarang who carried out blended learning. The research was carried out in Indonesian class subjects. The results showed that teachers and students agreed that the blended learning model was more effective in teaching. Students' understanding of the material is recognized as better when blended learning is compared to fully online learning.

  • Speedy Grammar: Aplikasi Game untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Tata Bahasa
           Inggris Siswa

    • Authors: Awaliyah Ainun Niswah
      Pages: 163 - 174
Abstract: This study aims to see the improvement of English grammar by students who practice using the Speedy Grammar game application with students who do not use the application, then compare them. This research design is quantitative with an experimental method between two classes, experimental and control class. The subjects of this study were 20 students. As a result, the ability of students who took advantage of the game application increased significantly than students who did not use the application. It can be proven by the value of the pretest and posttest results. During the pretest, the experimental class had a score of 64.70, and the control class had a score of 65.50. Meanwhile, after practicing for 6 times with a duration of 30-50 minutes, the posttest score for the experimental class was 89.60, and the control class was 79.40. Another accurate proof as the answer to the research results of a 2-way (t-tailed) significance value between the two classes shows the number 0.000 on the posttest, so there is a very significant difference. The conclusion again states that the Speedy Grammar game application can be used as a solution to problems when learning English grammar.
