  • The Effects of an Integrated Writing Task on Undergraduates’ Critical
           Thinking in English Argumentative Writing

      Abstract: The critical thinking in English writing skills is among the heated discussions in the field of second language writing. Grounded in Paul & Elder's critical thinking model and aided by Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version (CTDI-CV), the present study explored non-English majors’ critical thinking ability through examining the development of critical thinking in English argumentative writing. The results shows no significant difference in scores of critical thinking between the experimental group and the control group. The English argumentative writing skills between the experimental group and the control group differed significantly. No relationship between the critical thinking and English argumentative writing scores was indicated in the current study.

  • Improving Students’ Evaluation and Explanation Skills in Statistics
           using 9 E Teaching and Learning Model: an Experimental Study

      Abstract: The study was designed to compare the effectiveness of 9E teaching and learning model with Induction and Deduction Method (IDM). In this study the sample size of 124 students of Bachelor of Science (BS) 4 years (62 boys and 60 girls) was randomly selected. The experimental and control group design was used with pretest and posttest to observe the evaluation and explanation skill of the learners by Critical Thinking Skills (CTS). The selected students were divided into two groups i.e. experimental and control group. Experimental group was comprised of 62 students (31 boys and 30 girls) control group was consisted of 62 students (31 boys and 30 girls) teaching with IDM. The students were given treatment of 9E teaching and learning (elicit, engage, explore, explain, echo, elaborate, evaluate, emend and E-search) method. SPSS (V-23) data analysis was used in pretest and posttest for ANCOVA and independent sample t-test. It was observed that in posttest results of students (9ETLM). A significance difference was observed in the 9ETLM. The findings of the research indicate that the performance of the experimental group was better than the performance of the control group. However, there was some interaction between gender of EES and effect of conduct. It was strongly recommended to adopt and teach with 9 E teaching and learning model in different science and statistics subject during teaching in general and especially in statistics.

  • Development of Plant-Puzzle Games (PPG) based on the Learning Styles of
           Junior High School Students to Increase Learning Motivation in Plant
           Classification Materials

      Abstract: Plant classification material is one of the materials listed in the basic competence of the curriculum applied in Indonesia and is less attractive to students because the characteristics of plants are quite difficult to identify so that the classification is complicated. It is known that most middle-level students really like games which are integrated in learning activities. Therefore, this study aims to develop a media called Plant-Puzzle Games (PPG) which is expected to have a positive effect in the form of increasing the learning motivation of junior high school students in studying plant classification material. The research method used in this study is a research and development method with the ASSURE model as the research design. Based on the results of the media validation test by experts, an average value of 3.25 was obtained, which indicates that the media was included in the valid category. Based on the results of the effectiveness test with the calculation of N-Gain, the average value is 0.49. This shows that, after using PPG media, the learning motivation of students has increased which is in the sufficient category.

  • Feasibility Analysis of Stem-PjBL Mod El to Build Creativity and
           Communication Capabilities of Students

      Abstract: This study aims to obtain an appropriate STEM-PjBL learning model in building students' creativity and communication skills. STEM-PjBL is a project learning model that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). In this study using descriptive evaluative research method with 5 research steps. The first is to determine the problem, determine the type of information needed, choose a data collection procedure, choose a procedure for data processing and the last stage is drawing conclusions. The instruments used in this study were the TCOF assessment instrument, validation sheets and student questionnaires. TCOF data was processed and categorized based on the interpretation of Al-Abdali and Al-Balushi scores. The validation data is processed based on the interpretation of Riduwan's score. From the results of the TCOF assessment, the average score obtained is 2.73 which is included in the high level. In the validity test the average score for the creativity of students is 81.2% in the very good category, the communication skills of students are 86.5% in the very good category. Based on the results of the analysis of the 3 assessment instruments, the STEM-PjBL learning model is feasible to be used in improving students' creativity and communication skills.

  • The Effect of Using The Alternative Evaluation on Improving The
           Educational Outcomes of University Courses on Students (The Scientific
           Research Methodology Course as a Model)

      Abstract: This study sought to identify the effect of using alternative evaluation in improving educational outcomes. (Cognitive, psychological, skill) for university courses for students (the scientific research methodology course as a model). To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers used the quasi-experimental method. The sample of the study consisted of (40) students enrolled in the course of scientific research methods at Al- Istiqlal University. They were distributed randomly into two groups: the experimental group used the alternative evaluation.  However, the control group used traditional evaluation. The results of the study showed that there is an effect of using the alternative evaluation in improving the educational outcomes (cognitive, psychological, and skills) of the experimental group students. In light of these results, the researchers recommended a review of current evaluation practices that use traditional tests.  In addition, there is a need to amend the regulations and instructions regulating the evaluation policy in accordance with the university's modernization and developing in line with modern strategies for evaluation, and the use of alternative evaluation tools in evaluating students' work in university courses.

  • Development of Chemical Bonding Module Based on Multiple Representation

      Abstract: This study aims to develop a valid chemical bonding material module and can be used as independent learning materials for students in learning activities. This study is based on teaching materials used in some schools, representation of the phenomenon used only macroscopic and symbolic, while submicroscopic phenomenon has not been seen in the teaching materials used and some teachers have just heard the term. This study uses model of research and development Plomp. Data collection techniques in research are validation sheet, teacher response questionnaire, and student response questionnaire. The results of data analysis obtained validity on the aspect of content feasibility, linguistic aspect, presentation aspect, graphic aspect, and characteristics aspect of multiple representation validated by three validators, respectively for 97.14%, 89.52%, 93.33%, 95.24%, and 97.78% with valid categories. Evaluation result of small group was taken teacher response and learner response as user of chemical bond module based on multiple representation. looking at the questionnaire of teacher's response to the chemical bond module based on multiple representation, the average score was 90.22% with very good categorization. Questionnaire response of students to chemical bonding module based on multiple representation is 89.37% with good categorized.

           Accounting Learning Outcomes During the COVID-19 Pandemic

      Abstract: The transition from face-to-face learning to distance learning has decreased student learning outcomes. Departing from this phenomenon, this research is presented as an effort to overcome various obstacles experienced by teachers and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researcher offers a model that can be used in virtual learning activities. Beginning with finding out the extent of the influence of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on accounting learning outcomes in class X Accounting 1 students at SMK YPKK Limbung. Research data obtained from the results of the test, observation, and documentation. Then analyzed using t-test which consists of simple linear regression analysis and product moment correlation. The findings in this experimental study resulted in a simple linear regression equation model with a value of Y=33,012+4.283X and a correlation coefficient value of 0.580. After students received learning using the PBL model through distance learning and were given a post-test, their learning outcomes also increased. In other words, the implementation of the PBL model has a significant and positive effect on accounting learning outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Practices and Challenges of Professional Learning Communities: A Mixed
           Method Study on Social Sciences Faculty of Government Colleges in
           Bangladesh

      Abstract: The study is intended to investigate the nature and challenges of PLC in government colleges of Bangladesh by applying mix method approach. The investigation is conducted principally based on primary data in collaboration with some sort of secondary sources of data which make the study more consequential. Accordingly, to conclude the finding it triangulates the quantitative analysis, qualitative information and researchers’ observation. Consequentially, the inference drawn from the investigation implicates that there is no programmed PLC practices exist in Bangladeshi college education as CPD activities. In addition, there is some factual and potential challenges exist to implement PLC related to institutional reality and personality trait that is motivational in nature. The motivational aspect of professional is also engendered by institutional practices. Finally, to find out the challenges the study also has drawn some recommendations for resolution of the identified challenges.
