      Abstract: Essential oils are one group of secondary metabolites that are mostly found in the tissues of plants. Gliricidia leaves can produce essential oils that are used as anti-bacterial and anti-scabies. The purpose of this study to determine the constituents of essential oil compounds in the leaves of Gliricidia. The method used distillation water vapor and analyze with gas chromatography mass spektroscopy (GC-MS). The results showed that the Gliricidia leaves contains 100 components of essential oil compounds and 3 major components of essential oil compounds as follows:2-Pentadecanone, 6,10,14-trimethyl- (CAS) 6,10,14-Trimethyl-2-pentadecanone 20.07%, 2-Hexadecen-1-ol, 3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-, [R- [R *, R * - (E)]] - (CAS) Phytol 13.55%, a 1.2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, bis (2-ethylhexyl) ester (CAS) - bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate 10,11%.   • The Potential Antioxidant Of Nanoparticle Of Limus (Mangifera foetida
           Lour) Seed Kernel Extract

      Abstract: The antioxidants are compounds that have the ability to inhibit free radical activity that causes degenerative diseases. One source of natural ingredients known to have antioxidant activity is limus (Mangifera foetida Lour.), One of mango species from the Anacardiaceae tribe which is a local Indonesian fruit. Limus seed kernel extract (EBL) has been shown to have antioxidant activity. Antioxidant activity can be increased by making nanoparticle preparations. This study aims to increase the antioxidant activity of limus seeds by modifying the extract into nanoparticle preparations. The preparation of nanoparticles was carried out by the ionic gelation method and to ensure the formation of extract nanoparticles, characterization was carried out including particle size, polydispersion index and zeta potential value. The increase in antioxidant activity of limus seed extract (NEBL) nanoparticles was carried out by comparing the IC50 value with the IC50 EBL value, and to see its potential by comparing it with vitamins. The method of measuring antioxidant activity used is the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. IC50 data were analyzed using the One Way Annova test and post-hoc LSD test with a confidence level of 95%. Based on the research results, it was obtained that limus seed extract nanoparticles were prepared which had characteristics including; The particle size was 2.91 nm, the polydispersion index value was 0.456 and the zeta potential value was +56 mV and the IC50 value was 1.166 ± 0.021 µg/mL. The IC50 value of the EBL is 9.127 ± 0.022 µg/mL and Vitamin C is 3.933 ± 0.013. µg/mL Modification of EBL into NEBL preparations can increase antioxidant activity and has excellent potential as a natural antioxidant because it has stronger antioxidant activity than vitamin C (p <0.05).   • The Effect Test Of Cordyline fruticosa L. A. Cheval Extract On Decreasing
           In Total Blood Cholesterol Levels Of Male White Rats

      Abstract: ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak etanol daun andong dengan kontrol normal dalam menurunkan kadar kolesterol total tikus putih jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan hewan uji tikus putih jantan sebanyak 30 ekor yang dibagi menjadi 6 kelompok perlakuan, tiap kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor hewan uji. Kelompok I kontrol normal, Kelompok II kontrol negatif (pakan tinggi kolesterol dan streptozotocin 30 mg/kgBB), Kelompok III kontrol positif (suspensi simvastatin), Kelompok IV, V, VI masing-masing diberikan ekstrak etanol daun andong dosis 100 mg/kgBB, dosis 150 mg/kgBB, dan dosis 200 mg/kgBB secara peroral selama 14 hari berturut-turut. Pengukuran Kadar kolesterol total pada hari ke 0, 14, 21, 28, 35. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik one way (ANOVA) pada taraf kepercayaan 95% dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Least Significant Difference (LSD) untuk melihat perbedaan antar perlakuan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Ekstrak etanol daun andong dosis 300 mg/kgBB mampu menurunkan kadar kolesterol total pada tikus putih dengan kadar kolesterol 39 mg/dL.   • Antibacterial Activity Of Methanol Extract Of Meranti Sarang Punai Cortex
           (Shorea parvifolia Dyer) Against Staphylococcus aureus And
           Propionibacterium acnes

      Abstract: Shorea parvifolia Dyer (meranti sarang punai) is one of a woody plant in Indonesia which distributed across Sumatra and Kalimantan. Cortex of meranti sarang punai is known contains the secondary metabolite such as saponin, flavonoid, and tannin which can act as an antibacterial agent. The research was aims to know the antibacterial activity of methanol extract of meranti sarang punai against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium bacteria. Maceration was chosen as the extraction methods with methanol as a solvent. The antibacterial test was done by disc diffusion method in Nutrient Agar (NA) media with concentrations 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%; while the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was done by solid dilution method with concentrations 5%, 4%, 3%, 2%, and 1%. The results showed that the methanol extract of meranti sarang punai has antibacterial activity against the S. aureus with Inhibitory Zone (IZ) at concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30% respectively 16,68; 17,27; 18,41; 19,4; 20,57; and 21,46 mm, while against P. acnes was 12,61; 13,65; 14,57; 15,53; 16,58; and 17,46 mm. The MIC of methanol extracts of meranti sarang punai against the two bacteria was at concentration 2%.

      Abstract: Camphor resin has been harvested since the seventh century from west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. This historic oil or crystal have been collected from sumatran camphor trees (Dryobalanops aromatica) and utilized as fragrance, antibiotic, topical treatment for pains, and aromatherapy. The paper describes the local wisdom of camphor essential oil, phytochemical content, and potential utilization for herbal medicine. Conventionally, camphor crystals are harvested through felling and log splitting. This method produces about 1.5–2.5 kg of crystals. Extraction of camphor is also possible by making notches in standing tree trunk, as well as collecting liquid resin that exudate from wounded resin channel. The leaves biomass contains significant essential oils, especially fresh-young leaves. This volatile compound is distilled at 0.46–0.73% yield. The essential oil compounds include a-pinene, b-caryophyllene, 1.8-cineole, limonene, and p-cymene. For aromatherapy application, camphor oil has a relaxing fragrance offer relief to congested respiratory system thereby boosts immune system. In topical uses, it relieves inflammation, insect bites, itching, irritation, rashes, and muscular aches and pains. Local wisdom revealed camphor oil for digestive problems treatment, bloating, relieve muscle and joint pain intensity. The compound 1.8 cineole has potential as antiviral, expectorant, and prospective for respiratory and blood vessels treatment.

  • Formulasi Dan Uji Efektivitas Penyembuhan Luka Sayat Salep Ekstrak Metanol
           Bunga Ginje (Thevetia Peruviana) Terhadap Kelinci Jantan New Zealand White

      Abstract: ABSTRAK Bunga ginje merupakan tumbuhan berkhasiat obat yang bekerja dalam proses penyembuhan luka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat formulasi salep ekstrak bunga ginje (Thevetia Peruviana) dan uji efektivitas penyembuhan luka sayat pada punggung kelinci jantan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental. Pembuatan formulasi salep menggunakan ekstrak bunga Ginje dengan menggunakan hewan uji sebanyak 5 (lima) ekor dengan 6 (enam) kelompok perlakuan, yaitu salep ekstrak bunga Ginje 2,5 %, salep ekstrak bunga Ginje 5 %, salep ekstrak bunga Ginje 7,5 %, kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dan luka tanpa perlakuan. Semua kelinci dilukai sepanjang 2 cm dengan kedalaman 0,1 cm. Luka diolesi 3 kali dalam sehari dengan salep yang di uji. Pengamatan luka dilakukan setiap hari (hari ke-0 sampai ke-12). Semua data kuantitatif diuji secara statistik menggunakan ANOVA (Analisys Of Varian) sedangkan data kualitatif disajikan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan formulasi salep ekstrak bunga Ginje memenuhi persyaratan uji salep, mengalami penyempitan luka, membentuk keropeng dan menutup luka. Hasil uji statistik memberikan efek signifikan terhadap penyembuhan luka pada kelinci jantan, yaitu (p<0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa pembuatan salep ekstrak bunga Ginje menghasilkan sediaan salep yang memenuhi syarat dan konsentrasi 2,5 %, 5 % dan 7,5 % memberikan efektifitas penyembuhan luka sayat pada kelinci jantan.   • Potential of Ethanol Capsule Extract of Klutuk Banana Peel as an
           Antidiabetes

      Abstract: Diabetes melitus (DM) adalah suatu penyakit metabolik yang ditandai dengan tingginya kadar glukosa darah. Kulit pisang klutuk mengandung metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, polifenol, dan saponin yang dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas dan formula yang baik sediaan kapsul ekstrak etanol kulit pisang klutuk (Musa balbisiana Colla) sebagai antidiabetes pada mencit jantan yang diinduksi aloksan. Aloksan yang digunakan dengan dosis 170 mg/ kg BB. Mencit dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yang terdiri dari kelompok kontrol negatif (CMC Na 0,5%), kelompok kontrol positif (metformin 1,3 mg/20 g BB mencit), kelompok F1 (3,5 mg/20 g BB mencit dengan 2 % Sodium Starch Glycolate -SSG), kelompok F2 (3,5 mg/ 20 g BB mencit dengan 4 % SSG), dan kelompok F3 (3,5 mg/ 20 g BB mencit dengan 8 % SSG). Hasil analisis menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok kontrol positif dan kelompok F2. Persentase penurunan kadar glukosa darah yang diperoleh yaitu 65,05 %. Hasil evaluasi sediaan menunjukkan bahwa ketiga formula sediaan kapsul memenuhi persyaratan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sediaan kapsul dengan formula 2 mempunyai aktivitas menurunkan kadar glukosa darah yang lebih baik daripada formula 1 dan 3 pada mencit yang diinduksi aloksan.

  • Efektivitas Jamu Untuk Perawatan Pasca Stroke Di Rumah Riset Jamu (RRJ)

      Abstract: The use of jamu for the treatment of disease has become a method of choice besides conventional treatment using modern medicine, including by stroke survivors. Rumah Riset Jamu (RRJ) Hortus Medicus is a B2P2TOOT’s research house that conducts health service-based research. RRJ Hortus Medicus developed jamu concoctions for post-stroke care containing celery (Apium graveolens L.), gotu kola (Centella asiatica L.), and sembung (Blumea balsamifera L.). This study aims to see the effectiveness of the jamu concoctions. A total of 106 post-stroke patients were recorded having repeated treatment at the RRJ Hortus medicus which was entered from 2013 to 2018. The medical records of these 106 patients were traced and analyzed. The effectiveness parameter assessed was the Neurological Impairment Scale (NIS) score. Jamu concoctions can improve the NIS score average in 58% of patients, which means that jamu concoctions have the potential to be further developed as jamu concoctions for post-stroke care in accordance with BPOM requirements. Jamu was also well tolerated by the research subjects in the absence of any serious side effects after taking jamu concoctions.

  • Uji Aktivitas Antioksidan Ekstrak etanol Daun Kratom (Mitragyna Speciosa)

      Abstract: Kratom (Mitragina speciosa) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan herbal berasal dari Indonesia. Tumbuhan kratom memiliki beberapa manfaat empirik diantaranya mengatasi diare, meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh dan mengatasi nyeri. Daun kratom memiliki beberapa efek farmakologi salah satunya antioksidan. Kandungan berbagai senyawa yang memberikan efek farmakologis sebagai antioksidan didalam daun kratom cukup tinggi. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian adalah  mengetahui adanya aktivitas antioksidan  ekstrak etanol daun kratom melalui metode 1,1-Difenil-2Pikrilhidrazil (DPPH), berdasarkan nilai nilai IC50. Daun Kratom diekstraksi dengan metode remaserasi 3x24 jam memakai pelarut etanol 70%, lalu dipekatkan dengan Rotary Evaporator pada suhu 40°C, dan dioven pada suhu (40-50)°C  hingga menghasilkan ekstrak kental. Ekstrak daun kratom memiliki kandungan senyawa  alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin dan saponin. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan analisa kualitatif dan uji kuantitatif. Uji kualitatif antioksidan dilakukan  melalui cara  Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT) dengan cairan pengelusi n-heksana:etil asetat (7:3), dilanjutkan dengan penyemprotan DPPH menunjukkan hasil positif memberikan aktivitas antioksidan. Uji kuantitatif antioksidan memakai metode 1,1-Difenil-2-Pikrilhidrazil (DPPH) dengan pengukuran kadar menggunakan Spektrofometer UV-Vis, dan  vitamin C sebagai pembanding. Hasil pengujian aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol daun kratom menunjukkan nilai IC50  sebesar 91,86 ppm sehingga termasuk golongan antioksidan kuat.       Abstract: Masyarakat suku kalili di Palu menggunakan daun nangka sebagai salah satu obat sakit pinggang dalam bentuk simplisia yang kering. Selain itu daun nangka digunakan sebagai penghancur batu oksalat di ginjal. Berdasarkan pengalaman ini kami melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder ekstrak etanol daun nangka, mengetahui efek ekstrak etanol daun nangka terhadap gambaran histopatologi ginjal tikus yang diinduksi streptozotocin, serta mengetahui dosis ekstrak etanol daun nangka yang efektif meregenerasi sel pada tubulus ginjal. Penelitian ini menggunakan 25 ekor tikus putih jantan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok I sebagai kontrol normal, kelompok II sebagai kontrol negatif yang diberikan suspensi Na-CMC 0,5%, kelompok III, IV dan VI sebagai kelompok uji diberikan ekstrak etanol daun nangka dengan masing-masing dosis 175mg/kg BB, 250mg/kg BB, 400mg/kgBB. Data dianalisis mengunakan uji one way ANOVA pada taraf kepercayaan 95 %, dan dilanjutkan dengan uji post hoc LSD. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun nangka mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder yaitu flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, tanin dan polifenol dan dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah 100,8±36,8 mg/dL dan meregenerasi sel tubulus ginjal dengan skoring rata-rata 0,6 dengan nilai kerusakan maksimal 4
