  • The Rare Plants in The Alas Kedaton Tourism Forest, Tabanan, Bali

      Abstract: Forests are a source of foreign exchange that has been exploited on a large scale for timber. This exploitation causes a rapid reduction in forest area. Until now, the destruction of the forest environment is still happening, both by illegal logging and illegal mining. This study aims to determine the number of rare plant species in Alas Kedaton Tourism Forest, Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia; and the factors causing the rarity of these plant species. The population in this research is the plant species in Alas Kedaton Tourism Forest. Meanwhile, the social population is all people in the Alas Kedaton Tourism Forest area. The sampling method for plant species is the quadratic method was used to investigate the diversity and the number of rare plants. While for the social sampling was conducted by interviewing with purposive sampling method to the local community around the Alas Kedaton areas. Determination of endangered plant species was conducted by studying of available documents, in-depth interviewing, and seeking information from various existent sources. The collected data analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicated there are 48 species of plants with 26 families, which are generally found in Alas Kedaton Tourism Forest. Of this number, 42 (87.5%) plant species are included in the rare category; (2) of the 42 species of rare plants in the Alas Kedaton Tourism Forest, there are 8 (19.04%) plant species that are included in the National rare category, 20 (47.62%) rare plant species in Bali, 10 ( 23.81%) rare plant species in Tabanan Regency, and 4 (9.52%) species included in the rare category at the District level (especially Marga District); and (3) factors causing the scarcity of plant species in Alas Kedaton Tourism Forest are (a) past environmental degradation, (b) reproductive problems of rare plants, (c) human intervention, (4) disturbance by animals, especially long tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) and bats (Pteropus vampyrus).

  • Length-Weight Relationship and Condition Factors of Mullet Fish (Mugil
           cephalus) Caught at the Waters of Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park, Bali

      Abstract: Grey Mullet fish (Mugil cephalus) is one of the economically valuable fish in the waters of the Ngurah Rai Forest Park, Bali. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between the length and weight of the condition of Belanak fish caught in the waters of the Ngurah Rai Forest Park, Bali. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the growth conditions of Belanak in the waters of Ngurah Rai Tahura, Bali will create a plan for sustainable management of Belanak Fish resources. Sampling was conducted in March 2019 to May 2019. Data analysis used was the relationship between length and weight and condition factors. Data processing is done by using the Microsoft Excel program. The results obtained showed that the mullet fish has a negative allometric growth pattern (long growth is faster than weight growth) equation W = 0.011 L2.195 and the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.75 (75% growth in weight is influenced by growth long). Belanak fish caught in Ngurah Rai Tahura waters have a condition factor value (K value) ranging from 0.941 to 1.514 which indicates that Belanak is in good condition and is in its infancy.

  • Analysis of Plankton Abundance and Status of Water Quality Fish
           Cultivation “Sawah Tambak” with Overtime System in Kalitengah
           Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency

      Abstract: The fish cultivation system in several villages in Kalitengah District uses an overtime system, namely a fish cultivation system that is carried out within 1 year (12 months) without passing rice planting. The research objective was to determine the abundance of plankton and the status of water quality fish cultivation “sawah tambak” with overtime system in Kalitengah District Lamongan. This is a quantitative research using descriptive methods. Based on the plankton abundance value at Station 1,2 and 3, the waters in the overtime system of ponds are in the Eutrooph category, with the abundance value > 12,000 Ind / L. Meanwhile station 4,5, and 6 are included in the Oligotrooph category since its abundance <10,000 Ind / L. The diversity value is within the range of 0.714267-1.823 which include in the category of small diversity and low community stability because the value of 0 <H '<1.5. All stations are in a moderate level of pollution which the diversity index value is within the range of 1 <H '<3. The Dominance Index (D) is in the range 0.212-1.224, Station 1 has a high dominance value because of the dominant species, namely Batrachospermum. Water quality parameters at all stations such asthe temperature ranges between 28.8-34.2 0C; the pH 8.5-9.2; Dissolved oxygen  4-10.44 mg / l; ammonia 0.009-0.17 mg / l; phosphate ranges from 0.025-2.3 mg / l. From the measurement results, water quality parameters show a good value for the growth of aquatic organisms.

  • Protection of Thiophenone in Catfish (Clarias sp.) Larvae When Challenged
           with Aeromonas hydrophila

      Abstract: This research aimed to determine the ability of quorum sensing inhibitor compound thiophenone to protect catfish (Clarias sp.) larvae when challenged with the pathogenic Aeromonas hydrophila. This research was conducted at Fisheries Laboratory, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Udayana University, from December 2019 to January 2020. The experiment was setting up with four treatments and three replications for each treatment. 10 larvae of catfish were maintained in aquarium 15 cm × 15 cm × 20 cm filled with 1 liter of freshwater and used aeration for oxygen supply. The treatments were treatment A (control), treatment B (addition of A. hydrophila 106 cfu/ml), treatment C (addition of thiophenone 10 µM), and treatment D (addition of A. hydrophila 106 cfu/ml and thiophenone 10 µM). The results showed that the addition of thiophenone 10 µM increased the survival of catfish larvae up to 73% when challenged with A. hydrophila. That was significantly difference (P<0,05) compare to treatment B with survival rate of 43% within 3 days of culture period. Although it was not statistically different (P>0,05), the highest absolute weight and length were found in treatment A of 0,47 g and 0,50 cm, respectively, while the lowest absolute weight and length were found in treatment B about 0,23 g and 0,17 cm, respectively. The water quality such as temperature, pH and DO were still within the range that supported the growth and survival of catfish larvae during this study.

  • Performance Of Milkfish (Chanos chanos) Cultured by Different Stocking
           Density in Floating Net Cages Lake Batur, Trunyan Village, Bali

      Abstract: Lake Batur is the largest lake in the island of Bali. Lake Batur is widely used by the community in the aquaculture sector, namely floating net cage cultivation. The research aims to determine the influence of different stocking density on the growth rate and survival rate of the milkfish (Chanos chanos) in the 4 x 1 meters floating net cages in Lake Batur, Trunyan village. Data collection was done every two weeks during two months observation, from January 2020 – March 2020. The research used a complete random design consisting of three treatments and three replications of each treatment, which the treatment A of 15 fish/0.25m3, treatment B of 20 fish/0.25m3, and the treatment C of 25 fish/0.25m3. Measurements of fish length, fish weight, and water quality were done in situ. The results showed that the difference in stocking density had no effect on the absolute length, but those difference had an effect on the specific growth rate (SGR) and the survival rate of the fish. Treatment B resulted a maximum value of the growth rate, with an absolute length value of 0.69 ± 0.115cm/2 month and SGR 1.02 ± 0.095%/day. The fish survival rate at treatment A resulted in the highest value of 89 ± 3.46%/2 month. The value of water quality during the study were temperature of 25.9 ± 0.8oC, DO of 8.3 ± 0,1 mg/L, pH of 9.4 ± 0.2, and TDS of 995.5 ± 70.8 ppm.

  • Marketing Channels Efficiency Analysis of Scad (Decapterus sp.) Catches of
           Traditional Fishermen in Pengambengan Village Jembrana, Bali

      Abstract: Efficient marketing is characterized by low marketing margins and high farmer's share. This research was conducted to determine the condition and level of efficiency marketing channels Scad in Pengambengan Village during February-March 2020. The method used was descriptive qualitative method and quantitative descriptive by observation and interviews. Interviews were conducted with fishermen, collectors, wholesalers and retailers. The Marketing margin analysis and farmer's share were used to determine level of efficiency marketing channel. The results of the analysis show that there were two patterns of marketing channels for Scadthat were caught by traditional fishermen in Pengambengan Village. Marketing channel pattern I was a two-level channel pattern, while marketing channel pattern II was a three-level channel pattern. The marketing margin value in the two-level channel pattern was Rp5.700/kg with a farmer's share of 71%. The marketing margin value in the three-level channel pattern was Rp9.700/kg with a farmer's share of 59%. The marketing efficiency value obtained in two-level marketing channel pattern was 6%, while in three-level channel marketing pattern the marketing efficiency value was 8%. Based on the values obtained, the marketing efficiency of two-level channel pattern was as efficient as the three-level channel pattern. Thus, the marketing of Scad that were caught by traditional fishermen in Pengambengan Village was classified as efficient marketing.
