  • Comparison of Hematological and Biochemical Profiles of Late Pregnant and
           Non-Pregnant Mares

      Abstract: The maternal body must adapt to fetal growth and development during the state of pregnancy for successful foal and mother. Pregnancy status as in other mammals is related to physiology and hematology. This study aimed to compare the hematology profiles and biochemical parameters of late pregnant and non-pregnant mares. Twenty-two mares were included in the study. Mares were divided into two groups according to the pregnancy status. Hematology profile and biochemical parameters were analyzed from blood samples collected from the jugular vein. All data were analyzed using Stata 12/MP4. White blood cell count, lymphocyte, red blood cell count, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, monocyte and percentage of monocyte were significantly lower in non-pregnant mares compared to late pregnant mares (P<0.05). No significant differences were noted in values of neutrophil, eosinophil, mean cell volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, platelet, mean platelet volume, red cell distribution width in both groups (P>0.05). On the other hand, biochemical parameters analysis showed that calcium, total bilirubin, and triglyceride concentrations were greater in late pregnant mares (P<0.05). However, urea, albumin, cholesterol, and magnesium concentrations were similar among groups (P>0.05). In conclusion, the present study showed hematology profile and biochemical parameters differences in late pregnant and non-pregnant mares. These values could be useful in clinical practices to assess the situation of late pregnant mares.

  • Respons Hematologi Itik Pengging yang Diberi Tepung Daun Kelor (Moringa
           oleifera. Lam) Sebagai Imbuhan Pakan

      Abstract: Pengging ducks are one breed of Indonesia’s local duck has superior potential. This study was designed to evaluate the hematological parameters of  Pengging ducks fed Moringa leaf meal as a feed additive. The data were obtained from a total of 80 female Pengging ducks of 35 weeks old were assigned into a completely randomized design and each experimental unit consisted of 4 replications. The treatment group consisted of basal fed without added Moringa leaf meal (control), basal fed added with 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10% Moringa leaf meal. Data analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The results showed that the addition of Moringa leaf meal gave same effect (P>0.05) on the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH). However, the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) increased (P<0,05) to 15.91% at 5% moringa leaf meal. The number of leukocytes was lower (P<0.05) by 42.01% at 7.5% moringa leaf meal. Leukocyte differentials, the ratio of H:L, and trombocytes did not significant difference (P>0.05) between treatments. In conclusion, the Moringa leaf meal as a feed additive did not change the hematological parameters and could be increasing the health status of layer Pengging ducks.

  • Perbaikan Profil Hematologi Ikan Patin (Pangasius hypophthalmus) Setelah
           Penambahan Suplemen Herbal pada Pakan

      Abstract: Peningkatan keamanan pangan menggunakan bahan alami, seperti kunyit, kencur, dan temulawak sebagai suplemen pada pakan disebabkan karena bahan tersebut memiliki sifat yang ramah lingkungan, biodegradable, dan mudah ditemukan di alam.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan dosis suplemen herbal dan padat tebar yang efektif dalam meningkatkan status kesehatan ikan ditinjau dari profil hematologis. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola Faktorial.  Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah dosis suplemen  herbal (D1= 100 mL/kg pakan, D2= 200 mL/kg pakan, dan D3 = 300 mL/kg pakan) dan padat tebar ikan P1 = 50 ekor/ m3 dan P2 = 75 ekor/ m3.  Ikan patin (Pangasius hypophthalmus) yang digunakan berukuran 8-12 cm, pemeliharaan dilakukan selama 60 hari di keramba jaring apung berukuran 1,5x1x1m.  Pengambilan sampel darah dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali, yakni sebelum perlakuan, kedua pada hari ke-30  dan hari ke-60 pemeliharaan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  penambahan dosis suplemen herbal 200 mL/kg pakan dan padat tebar 75 ekor/m3 yang dipelihara selama 60 hari memberikan hasil tertinggi terhadap profil hematologis, yaitu total eritrosit sebesar 2,81 x 106 sel/mm3, nilai hematokrit 39,00%, kadar hemoglobin 10,73 g/dL, total leukosit 11,41 x 104 sel/mm3 dan kelulusanhidup 100%. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kombinasi padat tebar 75 ekor/m3 dan dosis suplemen herbal 200 mL/kg pakan adalah yang terbaik untuk peningkatan kesehatan ikan patin.

  • Profil Biokimia Darah Sapi Aceh yang Mengalami Kawin Berulang

      Abstract: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui profil biokimia darah sapi aceh yang mengalami kawin berulang/repeat breeding (RB).  Dalam penelitian ini digunakan 16 ekor sapi aceh yang terdiri atas tujuh ekor sapi aceh fertil dan sembilan ekor sapi aceh RB, yang berumur 3-8 tahun dengan skor kondisi tubuh (SKT) 3-4.  Koleksi serum dilakukan untuk pemeriksaan profil biokimia darah meliputi kadar kolesterol, protein, dan glukosa.  Kadar kolesterol; protein; dan glukosa sapi aceh fertil vs RB masing-masing adalah 185,86±45,34 vs 144,00±40,69 mg/dL; 6,57±1,55 vs 6,96±2,05 g/dL; dan 67,43±13,72 vs 73,78±15,83 mg/dL.  Disimpulkan bahwa kadar glukosa sapi aceh RB lebih tinggi dibandingkan sapi fertile, sedangkan kadar kolesterol dan protein relatif sama.

  • Gambaran Radiografi Penyakit Periodontal pada Kucing Jantan Lokal Berambut

      Abstract: Periodontal disease is the most common disease affecting pet animals including cats and dogs.  This disease can cause pain and discomfort affecting the animal’s life quality.  The purpose of this study is to evaluate periodontal disease from dental radiographs taken from male domestic short hair cats.  Eight male domestic short hair cats from Universitas Padjadjaran Jatinangor campus were recruited for the study.  This study observed several changes within the periodontium from dental radiography with simple quantification and analyzed using descriptive analysis.  Dental radiographs were taken on the second right mandibula premolar (408).  Several changes found in the dental radiography including widening of the periodontal ligament, bone loss and furcation involvement.  This study shows varied changes in the periodontium due to the cat’s immune responses.  The examined cats were experiencing widening of the periodontal ligament, bone loss and furcation involvement (37.5%, 25% and 87.5%) respectively.  All cats examined were experiencing periodontal disease.

  • Siklus Reproduksi Lutung Jawa (Trachypithecus uratus) Betina Berdasarkan

      Abstract: Currently, the information about Javan langurs female reproductive cycle in both cycle length and hormonal patterns is still widely unknown. Meanwhile, this information can be used as a guide in determining the fertile period of Javan langurs to conduct mating with higher pregnancy rate. The purpose of this study was to determine the reproductive cycle of adult female Javan langurs based on estrogen and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels. The experimental animals was originated from Coban Talun forest in Batu, which was undergoing a rehabilitation program. Feces samples of two female Javan langurs were taken for 40 days. Examination of estrogen and LH hormone levels in the feces was carried out by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method and then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that fluctuations in the graphs of the hormones estrogen and LH appeared on days 8 to 16 and days 30 to 40 which showed the existence of two reproductive cycles. Whereas younger langur showed a pattern of hormonal fluctuations that are less regular, making identification of the reproductive cycle difficult. Based from the results, we concluded that the reproductive cycle of female Javan langur was estimated about 24 days with a hormonal pattern consisting of the follicular phase, the ovulation period and the luteal phase.

  • Menduga Berat Karkas pada Sapi Bali Jantan dan Betina Menggunakan Bobot
           Hidup

      Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menduga bobot karkas pada sapi bali jantan dan betina dengan menggunakan bobot hidupnya.  Hal tersebut dapat membantu peternak dan pembeli sapi untuk menduga bobot karkas menggunakan bobot hidup.  Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel yaitu sapi bali sebanyak 20 ekor jantan dan 24 ekor betina yang dipotong di Rumah Potong Hewan Mambal.   Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengukuran langsung pada bobot hidup dan bobot karkas.  Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan independent t-test kemudian dianalisis dengan regression metode power. Hasil rata-rata pengukuran dari bobot hidup pada sapi bali jantan yaitu 312,55±13,96 kg sedangkan pada sapi bali betina 247,00±6,96 kg serta hasil rata-rata pengukuran dari bobot karkas pada sapi bali jantan yaitu 171,87±9,14 kg sedangkan pada sapi bali betina 115,43±3,33 kg.  Nilai koefisien korelasi yang didapatkan untuk sapi bali jantan adalah 0,954 sedangkan untuk sapi bali betina adalah 0,918. Nilai koefisien deteminasi (R2) yang didapatkan untuk sapi bali jantan adalah 0,91 dan untuk sapi bali betina adalah 0,843 sehingga ditemukan hubungan yang erat antara bobot hidup dengan bobot karkas pada sapi bali jantan dan betina.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bobot karkas dapat diduga menggunakan bobot hidup dengan persamaan pada sapi bali jantan yaitu Y= 0,208X1,168 sedangkan pada sapi bali betina yaitu Y=0,763X0,911.  Berdasarkan hasil analisis regression metode power dapat diketahui laju perubahan bobot karkas pada sapi bali jantan lebih tinggi daripada sapi bali betina sehingga sapi bali jantan lebih ekonomis untuk dipotong karena memiliki persentase bobot karkas lebih tinggi daripada sapi bali betina.

  • Penggunaan Teknik Molekuler untuk Mengenali Dermatofita yang Diisolasi
           dari Hewan Kesayangan di Jakarta dan Bogor

      Abstract: Dermatophytosis is one of the superficial mycoses which causes skin health problems in pet animals. This study conducted molecular characterization using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) on specimens obtained from patients suspected of dermatophytosis in several clinics in DKI Jakarta Province and Bogor City. Fifty samples of skin scrapings from patients suspected of clinically dermatophytosis were collected and analyzed by conventional and molecular techniques. The Research aimed to identify dermatophyte that were isolated from pet animals  using PCR-RFLP technique.  The primers of ITS 1, ITS 4, Chytin Synthase, and cutting enzymes of Dde1 were used in this Research. Four specimens off 50 spesimens were tested positive using direct and culture PCR examination techniques. Based on the sequencing results, Microsporum canis was identified in four spesimens. Specimens that were positive for dermatophytes followed by RFLP using the Dde 1 enzyme. The results of the study showed that molecular techniques were a reliable way to determine the high-precision dermatophytes in diagnosing dermatophytosis. The Results also showed that molecular arrangement of B1 isolate was different from three other isolates.

  • Identifikasi Bakteri pada Ikan Pindang Tongkol (Euthynnus affinis) di
           Pasar Tradisional Semarapura, Klungkung, Bali

      Abstract: Mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis) brine salting is a famous seafood product in Indonesia due to its good nutrition content. Bacterial contamination on this product may increase risk of foodborne diseases to happen, in addition to a decrease in quality and nutritionous value of the product. The main objective of this research was to identify bacteria contaminating the brine salting Mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis) sold in Tradisional Markets in Klungkung, Bali, Indonesia. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) was apllied in the process of identification of bacterial contaminants. Samples were collected from 5 fish kiosks at the Tradisional market in Klungkung, Bali Indonesia. Each sample was cultured in Blood Agar or Nutrient Agar. Colonies with different morfology were selected, enriched in Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB), and their DNA was extracted before being amplified with 16S rRNA primers. This PCR products were then sequenced, and the results were compared with those available in the geneBank. Basic Local Alignment Search Tool was conducted with help of MEGA software version 6. Seven bacterial species were identified, and these included Serratia nematodiphila, Bacillus cereus, Shewanella seohaensis, Vibrio alginolyticus, Kurthia gibsonii, Enterobacter cloacae, and Staphylococcus sciuri. All but one Kurthia gibsonii are potensial pathogens in human. Staphylococcus sciuri is not commonly found in seafood. The present of such species in the mackerel tuna brine salting product was probably due to poor handling during the process and distribution.

  • Perbandingan Deteksi Titer Antibodi Pascavaksinasi Rabies Berbasis
           Kolorimetri Menggunakan ELISA Reader dan Kamera Telepon Genggam

      Abstract: Rabies is an infectious disease, zoonotic, caused by virus from the genus Lyssa virus and generally transmitted by the bite of rabid animal, especially rabies infected dog.  Rabies is preventable but is always fatal to humans if the central nervous system (CNS) is infected. Vaccination has been used as one of rabies prevention programmed.  A total of 83 samples were tested using an Indirect ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) to identify post-vaccination rabies antibody titer.  Antibody titres correlated with absorbance values and standard solutions concentrations.  Absorbance value can be determined using ELISA reader and mobile phone camera. Absorbance were read at 450 nm and 620 nm as reference using ELISA reader and image from mobile phone camera using image processing software (ImageJ).  The aim of this study is to compared between ELISA reader as gold standard and mobile phone camera through validity testing such sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy.  There is no significant difference between gold standard and alternative test equipment.  The mobile phone camera has sensitivity 98,6%, specificity 88.8 % and accuracy 97,5%.  The image processing method using ELISA reader is relatively expensive and difficult to hold in laboratory with minimum funds.  Image processing method using a mobile phone camera with ImageJ application is expected to be an alternative tool to read the result of ELISA.

  • Seroprevalensi Flu Burung Subtipe H5N1 pada Itik Bali di Pasar Hewan
           Beringkit dan Pasar Umum Galiran, di Bali

      Abstract: Flu burung atau Avian influenza (AI) subtipe H5N1, termasuk kelompok Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) yang masih mengancam industri perunggasan, kesehatan manusia, dan sejumlah spesies burung liar.  Itik merupakan reservoir alami virus AI H5N1 dan diduga kuat dapat menularkan virus ke unggas lain maupun manusia.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seroprevalensi virus AI subtipe H5N1 pada itik bali di dua pasar yang menjual hewan hidup yaitu Pasar Hewan Beringkit di Kabupaten Badung dan Pasar Umum Galiran di Klungkung, Bali.  Total sampel yang diambil sebanyak 120 serum itik bali, yang diambil dari itik umur lebih dari tiga bulan dan tidak divaksinasi AI subtipe H5N1. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan sebanyak empat kali dengan interval waktu dua minggu dari masing-masing pasar tersebut.  Semua sampel serum tersebut selanjutnya diuji dengan uji Hambatan Hemaglutinasi (HI).  Hasil uji menunjukan bahwa seroprevalensi AI subtipe H5N1 di Pasar Hewan Beringkit sebesar 20,0%, sedangkan di Pasar Umum Galiran sebesar 23,3%.  Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa itik bali yang disampling dari kedua pasar tersebut pernah terpapar virus AI H5N1 secara alami. Surveilans dan monitoring serta tindakan pencegahan secara berkala perlu dilakukan untuk mencegah penyebaran penyakit AI H5N1 di pasar hewan.

      Abstract: This study aims to early detect Salmonella spp. and identify serotypes in commercial chicken eggs from layer chicken farms and traditional markets in Bali. Early detection study of Salmonella spp. was carried out by conventional bacteriological methods, while serotype identification by duplex Polymerase Chain Reaction (d-PCR) test against the invA gene from Salmonella spp. and the sefA gene from Salmonella enteritidis. Egg samples in this study were taken from 10 layer chicken farms in Bali which included districts of Bangli, Gianyar, Tabanan and Karangasem. Egg samples from traditional markets were taken from 18 traditional markets from the districts of Bangli, Gianyar, Tabanan, Karangasem, Badung, and Denpasar City. Samples were eggshells and egg whites. Analysis of positive results from Salmonella spp. described descriptively. The results showed that eggshells and white eggs from all of the layer chicken farms are negative contaminated with Salmonella spp. (0%). In eggshell samples taken from the traditional markets of Taman Bali and Tulikup from the districts of Bangli and Gianyar, positive with Salmonella spp. (11,1%) by conventional bacteriological tests. In the duplex Polymerase Chain Reaction test, S. enteritidis serotypes were identified. The finding contamination of Salmonella enteritidis in commercial chicken eggs from traditional markets require periodically detection to prevent the occurrence of salmonellosis due to consumption of contaminated chicken eggs in traditional markets in Bali.

      Abstract: Ruminant productivity is influenced by the quality and quantity of forage. Forage plant that is prospectively developed is Indigofera which has advantages such as high nutrient content, low crude fiber, being able to live in dry areas, and low anti-nutrient. However, as an innovation, adoption, cultivation, and utilization in a sustainable manner depend on several factors. This study was aimed to investigate the potential adoption of Indigofera forage in West Manggarai Regency with a focus on the factors that influence adoption. Data were collected through observations, individual interviews, Focus Group Discussions and study of documents. The number of respondent’s farmers was 59 from seven villages in five sub-districts. The results showed that in terms of the respondent’s characteristic factors, 96.61% were in the productive age, 94.7% had a formal education background, a sufficient number of a household member and a good perception of the Indigofera. From the socioeconomic condition factor, there are introductions of innovations through different patterns involving different actors with different results which can be used as an introduction model. From the characteristic factor, Indigofera forage has higher nutritional content compared to other popular forages, easy to live in the dry land, the process of breeding and cultivation is not difficult for the profession of farmers and has proven the results of development in other regions in Indonesia. Based on the facts and analysis, it was concluded that the Indigofera plant has the potential to be widely adopted and used by farmers in the West Manggarai Regency.

      Abstract: Oocyte vitrification today became a hope to preserve fertility. Its was a major challenge because of oocyte  characteristic in every phase. Immature oocytes were more sensitive to osmotic stress and the membrane wes less stable while mature oocyte have spindles that were very susceptible to temperature decrease. The study aim  to compare the effect of vitrification before and after in vitro maturation to the expression TGF beta and GDF9. Oocyte of ewes divided into control groups (K0), K1 maturation prior vitrification, K2 vitrification prior maturation. Vitrification begins with washing oocytes  in PBS supplemented of  20%serum for 1-2 minutes, followed by equilibration medium PBS + 20% serum + 10% ethylene glycol for 10-14 minutes,  then transferred to 20% serum + PBS + 0.5 M sucrose + 15% ethylene glycol + PROH 15% for 25-30 seconds. Thawing was processed by in the media: 1). PBS + 20% serum + 0.5 M sucrose, 2).PBS + 20% serum + 0.25 M sucrose, and 3).PBS + 20% serum + 0.1 M sucrose. Immunocytochemical stain was performed to evaluate TGF ' and GDF9 expression. Remmele scale index (IRS) was used to read the result. TGF beta expression both in oocyte and cummulus of K0 and K1 was  significant statistically difference (p<0.05) compare with K2. GDF9 expression both in oocyte and cummulus of K0 and K1 was  significant statistically difference (p<0.05) compare with K2. We concluded that immature oocyte give better expression of TGF â and GDF9 than mature oocyte.

      Abstract: Research related to the optimization of cow performans is done through concentrate feed and reproduction technology. This research was conducted in 2018 in Musi Village, Gerokgak Sub-district, Buleleng Regency, Bali. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 feed treatments and used 7 pregnant cows as replicates. The treatment is carried out when the cows enters 7 months pregnancy. Treatments tested: P0 cows given forage + rice bran 1 kg /cow/day + Bio Cas 5 ml/cow/day (mating with males), P1 = P0 cows mated with Artificial Imsemination (IB), P2 cows given forage + concentrates 1 kg/cow/day + bio cas 5 ml/cow/day (mating with a male), and P3 = P2 cattle mated with IB. Parameters observed that the parent body weight, weight gain calf, calf birth weight, weaning weight, calving interval, dry matter intake and feed rations convertions ratio. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance, if there are significant differences (P <0.05), followed by LSD 5%. The results showed that cows given feed concentrates and mated with IB (P3) result in weight gain of 0.52 kg/calf/ day was significantly higher (P <0.05) of P0 (0.40 kg/calf/day). Consumption of dry matter ration for P3 (2.59 kg) was significantly less (P <0.05) than P0 (2.87 kg) and resulted in the highest weight gain causing P3 FCR value of 4.98 was significantly lower than P0. Calf birth weight of all treatments showed no significant difference (P>0.05), but calf weight gain for P3 0.57 kg/calf/day was highest (P <0.05) compared to treatments P0 and P1 so that weaning weight calves P3 to 121.43 kg was significantly higher (P <0.05) than treatments P0 and P1. Estrus post partus for P3 is 2.87 months and calving interval is 12.36 months shorter than other treatments. This shows that the cows whose given concentrate feed mated through artificial insemination / males cattle produces the highest birth weight and calf weaning and short calving intervals.

      Abstract: Newcastle Disease or tetelo is one of main problem in poultry Industry in Indonesia. Prevention such as biosecurity control and routin vaccination program have been conducted to overcome this problem, but they have not given any great impact. Phyllanthus Niruri L. or meniran is well known as immunostimulatory. This research was aimed to reveal effect of Phyllanthus Niruri L. extract on chicken vaccinated with live vaccine LaSota. Administration of Phyllanthus Niruri L. extract was conducted on three different time which were 7 days before vaccination, 1 days after vaccination, and 3 days before and after vaccination. The amount of Phyllanthus Niruri L. extract administered were 2 ml, 2.5 ml, and 3 ml orally. Data of antibody titre were collected for 4 weeks after the treatment. It was obtained by measuring the antibody through Haemagglutination Inhibition test each week. According to the result Phyllanthus Niruri L. extract could increase the amount of antibody titre against Newcastle Disease. The amount of Phyllanthus Niruri L. extract given that capable to induced maximum of antibody titre was administered 1 days after the vaccination with  amount 2.5 ml. It is suggested that Phyllanthus Niruri L. extract should be administered post vaccination to boost antibody synthesis.

      Abstract: This study aim at determining the activity of ethanol extract of Robusta green coffee beans as an antiproliferation agent in MCA-B1, MCM-B2, and Vero normal cell lines as a control. Ethanol extract of Robusta green coffee beans was obtained by maceration method, bioactive compounds in the extract were tested by phytochemical screening methods, testing levels of antioxidants were tested by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method, cytotoxicity effects (LC50) were tested by the method Brine Shrimp Lethallity Test (BSLT) and antiproliferation activity were carried out by counting the number of cells after being tested with several extract concentrations namely 100, 250, 400, 550, 700 and 850 ppm and doxorubicin as a positive control with a concentration of 100 ppm. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Robusta green coffee beans contained flavonoids and tannins, had very strong antioxidant levels with IC50 values   of 40.9923 ppm, cytotoxicity effects obtained LC50 values   of 430.64 ppm, and the highest antiproliferation activity was achieved at a concentration of 850 ppm at 69.58 % in MCM-B2 tumor cells, 60.46% in MCA-B1 tumor cells, and 14.2% in Vero normal cells. Based on the results, the ethanol extract of Robusta Lampung green coffee beans has antiproliferation activity on the test tumor cells and is relatively non-toxic to normal cells.

  • Laporan Kasus: Fibrosarkoma Vagina Pada Anjing Golden Retriever

      Abstract: A Golden Retriever bitch, 10 years old, came to the Animal Hospital of Brawijaya University, Malang, Indonesia, her conditions was discharge from the vagina, stink smell, polyuria, polydipsia and swelling in the vaginal area that begin to appear one month ago.  Physical examination results found her weight 30 kg, scored three for body condition score (scale 1-5), body temperature at 38ºC, pale mucous membrane, and Capillart Reill Time > 2 seconds.  Hard mass was palpable in the vaginal area.  Based on the anamnesis, physical examination and clinical symptoms, the bitch appeared have some different diagnosis such as pyometra, endometritis, vaginitis, and vaginal tumors.  Hematology, radiograph, and histopathological laboratory tests were performed to confirm the diagnosis.  Hematologic results showed the bitch suffered from leukocytosis of 41.7 x 103/'L, granulocytosis 36.5 x 103/'L, and hyperchromic microcytic anemia.  The results of the radiograph examination showed a radiopaque solid mass in the vagina and uterus. The results of the histopathological examination found there were hyperchromasia nuclei and pleomorphism of fibroblast cell, and formation spindles cell of connective tissue. Based on the results of physical examination, hematological test, radiographic test, and histopathology, the dog was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma in the vagina. The treatment of this case was ovariohysterectomy and removal of the vaginal tumor. Early diagnosis and early treatment largely determine the patient’s prognosis, metastatic vaginal fibrosarcoma tumors showed poor prognosis.
