  • Examining the Relationship between the Level of Post-Traumatic Stress
Response on Occupational Balance and Quality of Life in Syrian Refugee
           Children

    • Authors: Sümeyye BELHAN ÇELİK; Meral HURİ
Abstract: Purpose: It is known that children who are exposed to traumatic events resulting from conflict have an increased response to stress after trauma. The study aimed to examine the effect of the level of the post-traumatic stress response (LPTS) on occupational balance (OB) and quality of life (QoL). Material and Methods: Ninety-two refugee children between the ages of 12 and 16 who had experienced war in their country participated in the study. The Child Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Reaction Index, the Occupational Balance Questionnaire, and the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory were administered to the participants. The relationships between the level of stress and occupational balance and quality of life were investigated.

  • Comparison of Sensory Functions of Premature and Late Premature Infants: A
           Randomized Controlled Trial

    • Authors: Gülbahar TATLI; Gonca BUMİN, Bülent ELBASAN, Akmer MUTLU, Gökçen AKYÜREK
Abstract: Purpose: It is known that infants prematurely have sensory processing problems. The aim of this study was to compare the sensory functions of early, late premature and mature infants. Material and Methods: The study included 16 early premature (24-34 weeks), 16 late premature (34-38 weeks) and 16 mature infants (control group; 38-42 weeks) who were followed by the Developmental and Early Physiotherapy Units and did not receive any diagnosis. Socio-demographic information form was applied to parents and Test of Sensory Function Infant (TSFI) was applied to infants to evaluate their sensory functions. Results: A statistically significant difference was found between the early premature and late premature groups in response to tactile deep pressure (p=0.008), ocular motor control (p=0.004) and total score (p=0.008). In addition, a statistically significant difference was found between the premature and mature groups in response to tactile deep pressure (p˂0.001), ocular motor control (p˂0.001), response to vestibular stimulus (p˂0.001) and total score (p˂0.001). Conclusion: It was observed that there was a significant increase in sensory function problems of premature babies in the week of birth. Therefore, it is important for therapists working in the field of pediatrics to learn about the birth weeks of children and to organize their intervention programs according to this risk when evaluating before the therapies they apply.

  • Musculoskeletal Disorders and Relationship with Physical Activity in
           Office Workers

    • Authors: Didem YÜZÜGÜLLÜ
Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between musculoskeletal disorders and physical activity levels in office workers. Material and Methods: Extended Nordic Musculoskeletal System Questionnaire and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form were used. Results: A total of 107 people participated in the study. The results were as follows: gender being female increased the risk of shoulder pain 4.7 times. Working without a break for 4 hours or more increased the risk of pain in the neck by 5.6 times and the risk of pain in the shoulder by 5.2 times. Not doing enough physical activity increased the risk of neck pain 2.9 times, the risk of shoulder pain 5.6 times, and the risk of back pain 3.0 times. Conclusion: Physical activity level and musculoskeletal disorders were found to be related. In future studies, the relationship between which level of physical activity and which musculoskeletal disorder can be investigated.
