  • The Development of Students’ Self-Regulated Learning Through Online
           Learning Design

      Abstract: AbstractSelf-regulated learning is one of the most important factors in online education. This research focused on exploring how the learning design of an online Islamic education course called Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) facilitated the development of students’ self-regulated learning. This study was situated at the State University of Malang (MUs), Indonesia and used qualitative approach in the form of case study as its methodology. The data were collected through documentation, online-based interviews, and observation. After being collected, the data then were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The research found that the PAI course at State University of Malang (MUs) had four learning design stages consisting of stimulation and problem identification, learning problem-content analysis, verification of results, and generalization. This stages facilitated the development of students’ self-regulated learning, as observed through three indicators owned by each student, namely, creativity, ability to think critically, and self-regulation. The implication of this study is the emerge of the technical-didactic side of online Islamic education learning through a designed learning design stages so that in the end it will lead to benefits in achieving educational goals more effectively.
      AbstrakPembelajaran mandiri merupakan salah satu faktor terpenting dalam pembelajaran online. Penelitian ini berfokus pada eksplorasi tentang bagaimana desain pembelajaran daring matakuliah pendidikan Islam yang disebut Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) memfasilitasi pengembangan pembelajaran mandiri mahasiswa. Penelitian ini berlokasi di Universitas Negeri Malang (MUs), Indonesia dan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berupa studi kasus sebagai metodologinya. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, wawancara berbasis online, dan observasi. Setelah dikumpulkan, data kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana. Penelitian menemukan bahwa matakuliah PAI di Universitas Negeri Malang (MUs) memiliki empat tahap desain pembelajaran yang terdiri dari stimulasi dan identifikasi masalah, analisis konten masalah pembelajaran, verifikasi hasil, dan generalisasi. Tahapan ini memfasilitasi pengembangan pembelajaran mandiri mahasiswa, sebagaimana terlihat melalui tiga indikator yang dimiliki oleh masing-masing mahasiswa, yaitu, kreativitas, kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan regulasi diri. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah munculnya sisi teknis pembelajaran daring Pendidikan Agama Islam melalui tahapan desain pembelajaran yang dirancang sehingga pada akhirnya akan bermanfaat dalam mencapai tujuan pendidikan secara lebih efektif.  How to Cite: Mardiana, D, Umiarso.   • English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Student Teachers' Readiness to
           Deal with Online Learning During the Covid-19 Pandemic

      Abstract: AbstractThe COVID-19 pandemic has forced all teachers to deliver online teaching and learning whether they are ready or not. Some studies have reported that many teachers face many challenges in delivering online classrooms. Hence, it is logical to assume that student teachers are likely to face even a more complex situation dealing with this issue. Unlike in-service teachers, for student teachers, they lack experience in both face-to-face and online learning. Therefore, this study attempts to report the readiness of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) student teachers and the kinds of digital competencies they need to be ready to teach English with digital technology using a quantitative approach. There were 60 respondents who participated using convenience sampling, from an Islamic university in Bogor, Indonesia. Using the TESOL Technology Standards for Teachers and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory, a questionnaire consisting of 50 items was written in 'yes' and 'no' questions. The findings of the study show that most respondents possess adequate basic digital skills to teach digital technology. However, they need to learn various digital technology that more effectively supports language instructions.The respondents also indicate acceptance of the utilization of technology and are willing to integrate it into their future classrooms. This study implies the need to include technology in the curriculum of the English Education Department.
      AbstrakPandemi COVID-19 telah memaksa semua guru untuk melaksanakan belajar mengajar secara online baik siap atau tidak. Beberapa penelitian telah melaporkan bahwa banyak guru menghadapi banyak tantangan dalam memberikan ruang kelas online. Oleh karena itu, masuk akal untuk mengasumsikan bahwa siswa guru cenderung menghadapi situasi yang lebih kompleks dalam menangani masalah ini. Tidak seperti guru yang sudah mengajar, mahasiswa, kurang pengalaman dalam pembelajaran tatap muka dan online. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mencoba melaporkan kesiapan siswa guru Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing (EFL) dan jenis kompetensi digital yang mereka butuhkan untuk siap mengajar Bahasa Inggris dengan teknologi digital menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Ada 60 responden yang berpartisipasi menggunakan convenience sampling, dari sebuah universitas Islam di Bogor, Indonesia. Menggunakan teori TESOL Technology Standards for Teachers and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), kuesioner yang terdiri dari 50 item ditulis dengan pertanyaan 'ya' dan 'tidak'. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki keterampilan digital dasar yang memadai untuk mengajarkan teknologi digital. Namun, mereka perlu mempelajari berbagai teknologi digital yang lebih efektif mendukung pengajaran bahasa. Responden juga menunjukkan penerimaan pemanfaatan teknologi dan bersedia mengintegrasikannya ke dalam kelas masa depan mereka. Studi ini menyiratkan perlunya memasukkan teknologi ke dalam kurikulum Departemen Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris.

  • The Application of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in Teaching English for
           Specific Purposes (ESP) in Higher Education in Indonesia

      Abstract: AbstractThis study aims to identify the impacts of applying project-based learning in English as Spesicic Purposes (ESP) classes in Islamic higher education. This research was held in the department of Family Law, Shariah and Law, State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The study conducted a qualitative approach to explore students learning process. A semi-structured interview, class observation, and a test were used to collect the data of 40 student participants. The interpretation process and coding were conducted to analyse the data. The finding revealed ESP through PBL succeed to improve 87.5% of students in their English achievement. The PBL process also encouraged students in learning discipline and motivated them to solve the learning problems.
      AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dampak penerapan pembelajaran berbasis proyek di kelas English as Spesicic Purposes (ESP) di perguruan tinggi Islam. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Jurusan Hukum Keluarga, Syariah dan Hukum, Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif untuk mengeksplorasi proses belajar siswa. Wawancara semi terstruktur, observasi kelas, dan tes digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari 40 siswa peserta. Proses interpretasi dan pengkodean dilakukan untuk menganalisis data. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan ESP melalui PBL berhasil meningkatkan 87,5% siswa dalam prestasi bahasa Inggris mereka. Proses PBL juga mendorong siswa dalam kedisiplinan belajar dan memotivasi mereka untuk memecahkan masalah pembelajaran.

  • How the Asian and European Communities Accept Negative Numbers

      Abstract: AbstractThis research is based on several inquiries from mathematics educators on the origins of negative numbers and their acceptance in the community. This study used library research, or more precisely, bibliographical studies, as a method. The research examined how the Asian and European communities accept negative numbers. The study's findings indicated that the Asian and European communities accept negative numbers differently. In comparison to the Asian population, the European populace takes a long time to accept negative figures. It resulted in numerous contrasts between the Asian and European Communities, one of which is in terms of religiosity. This study established that religiosity has an effect on the Asian and European communities' acceptance of negative numbers.
      AbstrakPenelitian ini didasarkan pada beberapa pertanyaan dari pendidik matematika tentang asal-usul bilangan negatif dan penerimaannya di masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan atau lebih tepatnya studi kepustakaan. Penelitian tersebut mengkaji bagaimana masyarakat Asia dan Eropa menerima angka negatif. Temuan studi menunjukkan bahwa komunitas Asia dan Eropa menerima angka negatif secara berbeda. Dibandingkan dengan penduduk Asia, penduduk Eropa membutuhkan waktu lama untuk menerima angka negatif. Hal ini mengakibatkan banyak perbedaan antara Komunitas Asia dan Eropa, salah satunya dalam hal religiositas. Studi ini menetapkan bahwa religiusitas berpengaruh pada penerimaan masyarakat Asia dan Eropa terhadap angka negatif.

  • Teacher Students’ Critical Literacy in the Academic Environment

      Abstract: AbstractIn an academic setting, critical literacy necessitates that teacher-students be critical of every text message (textbooks, videos, films, and other electronic media) that they read from courses. This study aims to illustrate the critical literacy of teacher students in an academic college environment in Jakarta, Indonesia, describing how critical literacy becomes a habit, a need, and eventually becomes a teacher-student culture. This case study employs a qualitative technique with an ethnographic design. Purposive sampling is used in this study. The research participants were a group of 14 female and two male teacher-students from the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education study program. Observation and documentation are used to collect research data. Observer becoming an insider who participates in critical literacy exercises in the classroom. Portfolios, notes on critical literacy activities, assignments, midterm exam scores, and final exam scores are among the documents gathered. According to the findings of this study, we should first put up an online platform scaffolding for critical literacy. Second, it demands significant encouragement from lecturers at the start of students' teaching preparation program, as well as commitment from lecturers and teacher students. Third, teamwork among lecturers in the study program is required. Fourth, critical discussions must be constructed using multiple narratives from scholarly papers and social media texts.AbstrakDalam lingkungan akademik, literasi kritis mengharuskan guru-siswa bersikap kritis terhadap setiap pesan teks (buku teks, video, film, dan media elektronik lainnya) yang mereka baca dari kursus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan literasi kritis siswa guru di lingkungan akademik perguruan tinggi di Jakarta, Indonesia, menggambarkan bagaimana literasi kritis menjadi kebiasaan, kebutuhan, dan akhirnya menjadi budaya guru-siswa. Studi kasus ini menggunakan teknik kualitatif dengan desain etnografi. Purposive sampling digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah sekelompok 14 orang guru-murid laki-laki dan perempuan dari program studi Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Observasi dan dokumentasi digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian. Observer menjadi orang dalam yang mengikuti latihan literasi kritis di kelas. Portofolio, catatan kegiatan literasi kritis, tugas, nilai ujian tengah semester, dan nilai ujian akhir termasuk di antara dokumen yang dikumpulkan. Menurut temuan penelitian ini, pertama-tama kita harus memasang perancah platform online untuk literasi kritis. Kedua, menuntut dorongan yang signifikan dari dosen di awal program persiapan mengajar mahasiswa, serta komitmen dosen dan mahasiswa guru. Ketiga, kerjasama antar dosen di prodi sangat diperlukan.   • Islamic Religious Education Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah and
           UIN Sunan Gunung Djati

      Abstract: AbstractThis study aimed to depict the educational process in the Islamic Religious Education Study Program (IRESP) at Islamic States Universities (UIN) of Jakarta and Bandung, such as the recruitment of students, educational process, and their graduates. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used were document study, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), in-depth interviews, and observation. The study concluded: 1) IRESP’s student recruitment system did not produce students with ample basic competences as teacher candidates such as mastering Arabic, teaching materials, and reading and writing the Koran. The recruitment system also ignored the interests and talents of being a teacher. 2) The educational process of IRESP had not been maximized and effective, such as writing papers, Field Experience Program (Program Pengalaman Lapangan/PLP) 1 and 2, and peer teaching. Teaching practice of the students was still minimal. Besides, Teacher and Teaching Staff Training Institutions (Lembaga Pendidikan Tenaga Kependidikan/LPTK) did not have laboratory schools where the students can practice teaching. 3) Graduates of the Islamic Education Departments generally became honorary teachers even though they did not have teaching certificates. Public and private schools or madrasas recruited teachers without the requirement of teaching certificates. This was UIN’s reason for neither immediately designed a pre-service Teachers’ Professional Education (Pendidikan Profesi Guru/ PPG) curriculum nor carried out in-service PPG till now. 4) LPTK had already standard microteaching rooms, the lecturers of LPTK had met the minimum requirement, and learning had used an active approach.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis proses pendidikan di Prodi Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di Universitas Negeri Islam Jakarta (UIN) Jakarta dan Bandung, seperti perekrutan mahasiswa, proses pendidikan, dan lulusan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah studi dokumen, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), wawancara mendalam, dan observasi. Studi ini menyimpulkan: 1) sistem rekrutmen mahasiswa PAI tidak menghasilkan mahasiswa dengan kompetensi dasar yang cukup sebagai kandidat guru seperti menguasai bahasa Arab, bahan ajar, dan membaca dan menulis Alquran. Sistem rekrutmen juga mengabaikan minat dan bakat menjadi seorang guru. 2) Proses pendidikan PAI belum maksimal dan efektif, seperti menulis makalah, Program Pengalaman Lapangan (PLP) 1 dan 2, dan peer teaching. Praktik mengajar mahasiswa masih minim. Selain itu, Lembaga Pendidikan Tenaga Kependidikan (LPTK) tidak memiliki sekolah laboratorium tempat mahasiswa dapat berlatih mengajar. 3) Lulusan PAI umumnya menjadi guru meskipun mereka tidak memiliki sertifikat mengajar. Sekolah atau madrasah negeri dan swasta merekrut guru tanpa persyaratan sertifikat mengajar. Ini adalah alasan UIN tidak segera merancang kurikulum Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) pra-jabatan Guru atau melaksanakan PPG dalam jabatan sampai sekarang. 4) LPTK memiliki ruang microteaching yang sesuai standar, dosen LPTK telah memenuhi kualifikasi, dan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan aktif.

  • Development of E-Learning with Web Enhanced Course Model in Arabic
           Language Learning at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah

      Abstract: AbstractThe aim of this study was to develop the design of the e-learning concept through web-enhanced model for students at the Department of Arabic Education at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Research and Development (R&D) by using a 4-D model. The 4-D development model consists of four main stages, namely: Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. Data were collected through interview and distribution of questionnaire. After that, data analysis process was conducted in the form of both qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results of the study showed that the development of e-Learning in Arabic learning gave students a new experience / nuance in learning Arabic for 63.5%. In terms of human resources, there is still an assumption that the conventional learning model through face-to-face is still an easy means and at the same time pays attention to the emotional bond between educators and students. This study concludes that the use of e-Learning media is still new to learning Arabic, and therefore, literacy in digital media needs to be developed to make them more accustomed to using it. Moreover, there are still many shortcomings and complaints by students in using e-Learning media in Arabic learning, and therefore, it required lecturers to be more intensive in guiding them.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk pengembangan desain konsep e-learning dengan Model Web Enhanced pembelajaran bahasa Arab pada generasi Z yaitu Mahasiswa pada Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Arab di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu dengan mengacu pada research and development (R&D) by using a 4-D model. Model pengembangan 4D terdiri atas 4 tahap utama yaitu: Define (Pendefinisian), Design (Perancangan), Develop (Pengembangan) dan Disseminate (Penyebaran). Dan teknik pengumpulan data yang diterapkan dengan wawancara dan kuesioner. Adapuun Analisis data yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis data kualitatif dan analisis data kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian yang didapat bahwa pengembangan e-learning dalam pembelajaran bahasa arab memberikan mahasiswa pengalaman/nuansa baru dalam pembelajaran bahasa arab yakni sebesar 63.5%. Dari sisi sumber daya manusianya sendiri masih ada anggapan bahwa model pembelajaran konvensional melalui tatap muka masih menjadi sarana yang mudah dan sekaligus memperhatikan ikatan emosional antara pendidik dengan peserta didik. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah penggunaan media e-learning ini masih baru pada pembelajaran Bahasa Arab, tentunya literasi pada media digital perlu dikembangkan sehingga mahasiswa lebih terbiasa dalam menggunakannya. Masih banyak kekurangan dan keluhan oleh mahasiswa dalam menggunakan media e-learning dalam pembelajaran, sehingga mengharuskan dosen harus lebih intens lagi dalam membimbing mereka.

  • Strengthening Children's Religious Education Impact of the Covid-19
           Pandemic Through Family Empowerment

      Abstract: AbstractThe purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which the family has an important role in instilling and growing character values that exist in society through strengthening religion in children as a result of the Covid -19 pandemic. The research method used is a qualitative method with a religious approach. Data collection techniques using documentation techniques in the form of scientific journals and books written by competent authors. The study of data analysis used content analysis techniques. The findings of this study are the strategic position of the family, if properly prepared, will become a vital place for human development, especially in preparing human resources who have noble character qualities. On the contrary, it will be a source of disaster when religion in the family is ignored or does not get an adequate portion. This study contradicts the reinforcement theory of motivation proposed by B. F. Skinner but supports the theory of moral strengthening of Imam Al-Gazali. The conclusion of the study is that family empowerment can strengthen the practice of religion in children as a result of the  Covid-19 pandemic which is very strategic because it essentially aims to change individual behavior, knowledge, attitudes and values and skills.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sejauh mana keluarga memiliki peran penting dalam menanamkan dan menumbuhkan nilai-nilai karakter yang ada di masyarakat melalui penguatan agama pada anak akibat pandemi Covid -19. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan religi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi berupa jurnal ilmiah dan buku-buku yang ditulis oleh penulis yang berkompeten. Kajian analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis isi. Temuan penelitian ini adalah posisi strategis keluarga, jika dipersiapkan dengan baik, akan menjadi tempat vital bagi pembangunan manusia, terutama dalam mempersiapkan sumber daya manusia yang memiliki kualitas akhlak mulia. Sebaliknya, akan menjadi sumber malapetaka ketika agama dalam keluarga diabaikan atau tidak mendapat porsi yang memadai. Penelitian ini bertentangan dengan teori penguatan motivasi yang dikemukakan oleh B. F. Skinner tetapi mendukung teori penguatan moral Imam Al-Gazali. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah pemberdayaan keluarga dapat memperkuat pengamalan agama pada anak akibat pandemi Covid-19 yang sangat strategis karena pada hakikatnya bertujuan untuk mengubah perilaku individu, pengetahuan, sikap dan nilai serta keterampilan.
