  • THE EFFECT OF COOPARATIVE LEARNING ATTITUDES, PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS
PERCEPTIONS AND PERSONALITY TYPES ON SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS'
SUCCESS IN ROBOTICS AND CODING EDUCATION: A CAUSAL-COMPARATIVE RESEARCH

    • Authors: Deniz Mertkan GEZGİN; Emirhan AZAZ, Ecem ATABAY
Abstract: Bu çalışmada, “Bilişim teknolojileri ve yazılım” dersi kapsamında robotik kodlama eğitimi alan ortaokul öğrencilerinin işbirlikli öğrenme, problem çözme becerisi ve kişilik tiplerinin robotik kodlama eğitimindeki başarı durumları açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.

  • Adaptation of Tech Check Computational Thinking Tests into Turkish

    • Authors: İbrahim ÇETİN; Polat ŞENDURUR, Tarık OTU
Abstract: Computational thinking is a relatively novel field of Research. Researchers have not reached a consensus about definition and measurement of Computational Thinking. The amount of researches conducted to measure and to evaluate Computational Thinking is not sufficient. Especially studies conducted on kindergarten and primary school levels are limited. This research aims to adapt Computational Thinking tests Tech Check-K, Tech Check-1 and Tech Check-2, which are developed in the language of English, into Turkish. After translation of items of tests into Turkish, a backward translation conducted and original, and final forms of the tests were compared. Field experts, language experts, Teachers from kindergarten, and primary schools worked in collaboration for the process. The Turkish versions of tests were applied to collect data for examination psychometric features of tests. After application of psychometric tests, the items of Tech Check tests were preserved as they were. KR20 values of Tech Check K, Tech Check 1, and Tech Check 2 tests were found .64, .68, and .70 respectively. These values demonstrated an acceptable inner consistency. Due to overall evaluations it is decided that psychometric features of tests in Turkish are acceptable.

  • A CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR CRITICAL THINKING-BASED IMPLEMENTATIONS

    • Authors: Melih TİMUÇİN; Atilla ÇİMER
Abstract: As definitions of thinking terms and their sub-components differ greatly, it is vital to border conceptual framework and set of definitions to be adopted within a scientific study in thinking fields. The present article aims to offer a conceptual framework for critical thinking-based implementations. The review article was carried out by two-stage content analysis. In the preliminary stage, Google, Google Scholar and Council of Higher Education Turkey National Thesis Center databases were scanned with “eleştirel düşünme” and “critical thinking” keywords. In the second stage, the review was deepen and broaden. The results of the review indicated that critical thinking should be taught in all age groups both in course contents in an interdisciplinary way and as a separate thinking skills course; critical thinking studies should be comprehensive and longitudinal; they should target improving critical thinking directly. Such studies should also present activities and daily life examples of critical thinking directing learners to use principal terms of thinking to regulate their thinking processes. It is possible to make comparisons with previously known templates such as taxonomy of learning objectives and the stages of scientific inquiry to support learners to understand critical thinking. It can be recommended that studies combine more than one higher order thinking skill such as critical thinking and creative thinking collectively as higher order thinking can be designed.
