    • Authors: Rizqiya Irfana, Abdul Malik Ghazali, Yusuf Baihaqi
Abstract: In the development of Quran interpretation, the approach of science has been used, which is considered the most contemporary approach to understanding verses related to the universe. Among the paradigm shifts in the interpretation of the Quran caused by the use of a scientific approach, is the emergence of an understanding of verses that were originally associated with a certain time, such as the impending apocalypse, then changed that in fact the verse is not an explanation of the events of the doomsday, such as the change in understanding of verse 4 in sura al-Zalzalah which states that at the time of the earthquake, the earth speaks to man. This article is a results of the research on the tafsir al-Jāmi’ li Ahkām al-Qur’ān by imam al-Qurṭubī and Kitab Al-Qur’an dan Tafsirnya (Edisi yang Disempurnakan) compiled by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia by qualitative methods. This article concludes that classical and modern exegetes have similarities in interpreting the earth speak. The equation is that when the earth is shaken it releases its burden in the form of rocks and other objects. After examining these objects, they can provide information about human actions that have occurred at certain times. The Geologists can also get information about when the earthquake occurred at a certain time from the records found on rocks and coral reefs.

  • Respons Positif Teologi Kristen Protestan terhadap Sekularisasi Di Dunia
           Barat Modern

    • Authors: Mohammad Nuh Hasan
Abstract: This article discusses how Protestant Christian theology responds to the strengthening of the secularization phenomenon. The positive response with various styles of theological reflection illustrates that the Protestant Christian theology figures above, starting from Karl Barth, Rudolf Bultmann, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Paul Tillich, are the efforts of theologians to try to bridge the gap or gap in cultural rationality between the cultures of the classical era in where the texts of the scriptures were written with modern Western culture today. These theologians include those who give a positive response in dealing with the phenomenon of secularization in the West. However, their response actually has a style that is more or less different in their way of thinking. Although Karl Barth proposed an advanced mode of reflection, he was still bound by his orthodoxy, so that he was nicknamed "neo-orthodox". Rudolf Bultmann was more liberal with his "Demythologized" ideas. Dietrich Bonhoeffer had already begun to advocate a secular Christian interpretation, and Paul Tillich had further advocated a correlational theological approach to religion and culture. Next, Harvey Cox further tries to construct a more comprehensive reflection of Secularization theology, that the secular world is a world in which Christians are mature people. As a sign, Jesus' death on the cross is a symbol, that he has left his absoluteness, his supernatural being, to become a secular "God".
