  • Carbon Nanotubes Synthesized by CCVD Method using Diatomite and Shungite
           Minerals

      Abstract: In this work, carbon nanotubes were prepared using catalysts consisting of nickel particles supported on the naturally occurring minerals diatomite and shungite. The carbon source for the chemical catalytic vapour deposition (CCVD) synthesis was a propane-butane gas mixture. The synthesized multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were characterized using Raman spectroscopy, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, and the effect of temperature on their structure was investigated. The carbon content was determined by thermogravimetric analysis. In Raman spectra of CNTs the intensity ratio I(G)/I(D) for 650 °C is higher than that for 700 °C and then it begins to increase with increasing temperature. The results show that the diameter of CNTs which were synthesized on the surface of diatomite/shungite samples were in the range of 33–100.3 nm. The development of new methods for creating catalytic systems that allow controlling the structure of carbon particles is an important task leading to the improvement of existing approaches to the synthesis of CNTs with certain functional properties.

  • Non-Catalytic Gas Phase Oxidation of Hydrocarbons

      Abstract: The predicted role of gas chemistry in meeting the global needs for fuels and petrochemicals makes it necessary to increase the efficiency of gas chemical processes and reduce their energy consumption. An important role in solving these problems can be played by non-catalytic autothermal oxidation processes that provide high energy efficiency with minimal demands on the composition of processed gases and their preliminary preparation. The paper presents the latest results of the development of two promising directions in natural gas processing. One, so called matrix conversion, belongs to the group of processes based on their preliminary conversion into syngas and demonstrates the possibility of a significant increase in specific capacity due to the transition to autothermal oxidative conversion. The other is based on the processes of direct conversion of hydrocarbon gases into chemical products – their partial oxidation and oxycracking with subsequent catalytic carbonylation of the resulting methanol and ethylene. In this case, additional advantages are achieved due to the possibility of direct processing of complex gas mixtures without their preliminary separation.

  • Oxidation of Vacuum Residue with the Addition of Crumb Rubber

      Abstract: The actual problem of the oil refining industry is to improve the process of oxidation of heavy oil residues and the properties of oil bitumen. One way to solve the problem is to add modifiers. The addition of modifiers leads to an intensification of the oxidation process and an increase in the characteristics of the bituminous binders. The work aims to study the effect of adding rubber crumb on the process of vacuum residue oxidation and the properties of the obtained rubber-bitumen binders (RBB). The influence of the size of crumb rubber and its content, the mixing stage and oxidation modes on the properties of rubber-bitumen binders are determined. Vacuum residue from the Omsk oil refinery was used as a raw material, which was modified with crumb rubber with a dispersion of 0.6‒1.0 mm and less than 0.6 mm. The novelty of the research is the addition of crumb rubber to the vacuum residue and the oxidation process to obtain bitumen. The product of vacuum residue oxidation for 2 h at 260 °С with preliminary mixing of 2 wt.% crumb rubber with particle sizes less than 0.6 mm at 180 °С and additional mixing of 8 wt.% crumb rubber after oxidation corresponds to the brand of rubber-bitumen binder RBB 60/90. The rubber-bitumen binder is characterized by high elasticity and low Fraas point. Рrepared аsphalt concrete mixture based on RBB corresponded to type B according to physical and mechanical parameters. The complex shear modulus of the samples decreases with the temperature increase. Short-term aging resulted in increased shear modulus for all samples.

  • The Efficiency of Various Fire Protectants for Wooden Structures

      Abstract: The article deals with the scientific problem of the development and application of various fire protective compositions for wooden structures. Based on the results of theoretical and experimental studies, the authors for the first time attempted to state the influence of the chemical nature and mechanism of flame retardant action on the effectiveness of fire protection means. When assessing the effectiveness of fire protection, the authors paid special attention to the key parameters that determine the fire resistance of wooden structures. The possibility of developing effective fire protection systems, capable not only to provide a certain group of fire protection efficiency but also to influence the parameters of the charring process and the intensity of wood heating temperature is shown. Complex mechanisms of bloating (intumescence) and carbonization in combination with the mechanism of regulating the process of carbonization and wood carbonization, are able to provide the protected material with effective resistance to high temperatures (fire). The use of such types of fire protection allows forming an independent scientific direction associated with the development and use of fire protection systems contributing not only to the effective reduction of fire danger of wood and materials based on it but also to increasing the fire resistance of wooden structures.

  • Novel 7-Aryliden-3,3a,4,5,6,7-(hexahydro-5-(2-ethoxyethyl)-2-phenyl-
           3-aryl-2H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine Hydrochloride: Synthesis and Structure

      Abstract: A Claisen-Schmidt type reaction of 1-(2-ethoxyethyl)piperidin-4-one with differ­ent aromatic aldehydes led to corresponding dienones with a yield of 65‒71%. 7-Arylidene-3,3a,4,5,6,7-(hexahydro-5-(2-ethoxyethyl)-2-phenyl-3-aryl-2H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridines were synthesized by heterocyclization of 3,5-dia­rylidene-piperidin-4-ones with phenylhydrazine hydrochloride in methanol at 70 °C over 4‒6 h. The X-ray crystal structure determination of 7-(p-methoxy­benzyliden)-3,3a,4,5,6,7-(hexahydro-5-(2-ethoxyethyl)-2-phenyl-3-(p-methoxy­phenyl)-2H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridine hydrochloride (the deposition number is CCDC 862410) was completed. The piperidine and pyrazoline rings are close to a chair and envelope conformations, respectively.

  • A Simple Procedure for Synthesis of Biological Active
           4-oxo-4-(quinolin-8-yloxy)but-2-enoic acid

      Abstract: The article is devoted to research on the synthesis of hydroxyquinoline derivative based on 8-oxyquinoline and maleic anhydride. Analysis of available literature was carried out, some drugs were found that are produced based on hydroxyquinoline derivatives and have antiprotozoal, antimicrobial and antiseptic effects, used alone or in combination with other active substances. A technique has been developed for the synthesis of a new derivative in the medium of petroleum distillate using sulfuric acid as a catalyst. A water-soluble ester of 8-oxyquinoline and maleic acid was obtained in good yield (95%), the structure of which was established based on UV, IR and NMR spectroscopy. By analogy with other oxyquinoline derivatives and the results of prediction bioactivity in the PASS program, the obtained derivative may be characterized by antifungal (antiseborrheic) action. It was determined its antibacterial properties at a concentration of 20.0–10.0 mg/cm3 as well as a significant antioxidant activity which is a useful biological property to expand the range of its application.
