  • SOME CHALLENGES TO WORLD REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN CONDITIONS OF COVID-19
           PANDEMIC

    • Authors: Vesela Angelova
Abstract: At the beginning of 2022, the COVID-19 crisis is still ongoing and its economic consequences are growing with full force. The differences in vaccination rates are the basis for different economic reconstructions, which are meant to heal existing social divisions and geopolitical tensions. This tension and the economic impact of the pandemic will make it difficult to ensure a coordinated and sufficiently rapid approach to global and regional challenges.

  • DEVELOPMENT OF NON-AGRICULTURAL ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE TERRITORY OF
LAG “TUTRAKAN – SLIVO POLE” - OPPORTUNITIES, GUIDELINES AND GOOD
           EUROPEAN PRACTICES

    • Authors: Valentina Marinova
Abstract: The successful implementation of the LEADER approach in Bulgaria plays an important role in promoting innovative solutions to old and new problems in rural areas and becoming a kind of "laboratory" for developing local capabilities and for testing new ways of meeting the needs of communities in rural areas. The approach has brought valuable results in many rural areas in the EU and can play a significant role in helping rural areas in Bulgaria. LAGs have the complex task and enormous challenge of preserving rural areas, encouraging rural areas to seek new ways to become or remain competitive, make the most of their resources and overcome the challenges they face such as an aging population, low quality of service provision or lack of employment opportunities. The local community is the citizens and legal entities that have a permanent or current address or seat on the territory of the LAG and have a mutual interest in carrying out activities to achieve certain permissible goals. Up-to-date information on the micro-enterprise sector, the reasons for the lack of interest in supporting LAG “Tutrakan - Slivo Pole” will be examined. Guidelines will be developed regarding the opportunities provided for the development of small businesses, including through the application of good practices.

  • STUDY OF THE DYNAMICS OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE TERRITORY OF LAG
“TUTRAKAN - SLIVO POLE” FOR THE PERIOD 2018 - 2021 OF THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COMMUNITY-LED LOCAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

    • Authors: Valentina Marinova
Abstract: Rural areas in Bulgaria are characterized by economic, social and cultural backwardness, an aging population, a low standard of living, deteriorating infrastructure and the resulting negatives. This is the result of objective processes, but also of the neglect and underestimation of the consequences of this unfavorable development. At the same time, these areas have significant natural, human, economic and cultural potential, the development and full use of which is a must.Rural development policy is part of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which has become increasingly important over the years. It promotes sustainable development in Europe's rural areas and aims to address economic, social and environmental problems in different areas. More than half of the EU's population lives in rural areas, which cover 90% of the EU's territory. One of the CAP's tools for positive impact on rural development is the Community-led local development approach. This is an innovative approach that has been applied in Bulgaria over the last decade through Local Action Groups (LAGs).The implementation of SWOMR - Strategy for community-led local development of “LAG Tutrakan Slivo Pole” for the period undoubtedly has contributed to the dynamics of local economic development in the municipalities of Tutrakan and Slivo Pole. The survey will allow the LAG "LAG Tutrakan Slivo Pole" to get real results for the dynamics of economic development, the balanced implementation of SWOM on the territory and others.During the last 4 years of the implementation of the SWOM, Tutrakan Slivo Pole LAG has been working through various forms and methods with its stakeholders by sectors and with the local community. In order to continue maintaining high engagement and activity on the territory, it is necessary to measure the effect of the activities of the Tutrakan Slivo Pole LAG with the groups, with the representatives of the local community, with the population as a whole. As well as to make recommendations for maintaining and increasing this activity, which will be key for upgrading the territory with the next Strategy.

  • COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ECONOMIC ARTICLES HEADLINES IN THE BULGARIAN AND
           ENGLISH PRESS: CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR TYPOLOGY

    • Authors: Ivaylo Dagnev
Abstract: The research aims to analyze in a comparative plan the conceptual metaphors of economic news headlines in the Bulgarian and English press. The main role of headlines in the media is to attract the reader's attention, to show the author's approach to the topic, to the content of the article or to its focus. A substantial part in creating the impression of each headline is played by the so-called conceptual metaphors. Until the early 1980s, metaphor was considered simply a literary device, but Lakoff & Johnsons‘ (1980) Conceptual Metaphor Theory presents metaphor and metonymy not only as types of rhetorical devices, but also as ways of thinking and knowing through which people understand abstract concepts through simpler ones objectified by experience. By means of an analysis based on this theory, the paper tries to shed light on the typology of conceptual metaphors in the headlines of press articles on economic topics in Bulgarian and English-language journals, thus aiming to clarify the cultural-linguistic peculiarities in the media sphere in both cultures.

  • A CORPUS-BASED STUDY OF LEXICAL ITEMS IN BULGARIAN AND ENGLISH ECONOMICS
           RESEARCH ARTICLES

    • Authors: Ivaylo Dagnev
Abstract: The article offers a comparative analysis of the lexical means used in Bulgarian and English research articles with an economic focus. The research is based on a broad theoretical foundation, using a genre and terminological toolkit, alongside a linguistic analysis of lexical items. Methodologically, the research is based on two separate corpora of articles in Bulgarian and English language articles of almost equal number of words. The most frequent lexical units are established, and an analysis of lexically-related groups - collocations, coligations and lexical bundles is also offered. The importance of these lexical devices in the context of textual organization and for the terminological system of the genre of the economics research article is emphasized.

  • FORMATION OF GRAIN YIELD AT GENOTYPES OF COMMON WINTER WHEAT (TRITICUM
AESTIVUM L.) UNDER DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    • Authors: Plamen Chamurliyski
Abstract: The main task of the contemporary breeding programs is obtaining higher grain yield from common winter wheat; for this purpose, the new varieties should possess a number of properties meeting the requirements of the highly competitive market. Yield is a value, which is determined by several main parameters related to the morphological and biological peculiarities of the plant itself. Which are the elements determining productivity - number of productive tillers per m², number of grains per spike and absolute weight. The expression of those indication is not only genetically inherited but it is related to conditions of the environment and the agrotechnic being applied. The aim of this study was to follow the reaction of contemporary common winter wheat genotypes with regard to yield and its elements under different growing environments. The investigation was carried out during 2017 – 2018, testing 16 breeding lines and 2 cultivars of common winter wheat during this period. The materials were planted in a randomized manner according to a block deign, the area of the harvest plot being 7.5 m2, in three fertilization variants (50, 60 and 70 kg ammonium nitrate per da), the factor provoking specific response in the individual accessions. The highest yield is achieved in the genotypes in the experiment with the maximum amount of nitrogen in both years of the study. The main influence on the formation of productivity is exerted by the number of grains in a class at the low and high norms, as this tendency is more marked when there is use of 50 kg of ammonium nitrate per da. The yield at the average level of fertilization is determined by the productive plant tillers.
