Abstract: Actas Esp Psiquiatr. 2022 Jan;50(1):65-67. Epub 2022 Jan 1.ABSTRACTarbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, tasteless, colorless and nonirritating gas 1. In Spain, most of the accidents due to CO poisoning are caused by water heaters2,3,4. CO binds to hemoglobin with much greater affinity than oxygen, for- ming carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) and resulting in impaired oxygen transport and utilization.XS In up to 40 percent of patients with significant CO exposure, a delayed neuropsy- chiatric syndrome (DNS) can arise 3 to 240 days after appa- rent recovery, characterized by cognitive deficits, personality changes, movement disorders, and focal neurologic deficits, which may persist for a year or longer.PMID:35103300 (Source: Actas Espanolas de Psiquiatria)

Abstract: Actas Esp Psiquiatr. 2022 Jan;50(1):58-62. Epub 2022 Jan 1.ABSTRACTSpinocerebellar ataxia type 10 (SCA10) is characteri- zed by ataxia, psychiatric disorders convulsions, and locus at 22q13.311. It is caused by expansions between 800-4500 pentanucleotide ATTCT repeats in intron 9 of the ATXN10 gene1-2. The ATXN10 gene encodes ataxin-10 protein (known as E46L) involved in neuritogenesis 1. SCA10 has a founder origin in Mexican, Brazilian, Argentine populattons but is rare in others.PMID:35103298 (Source: Actas Espanolas de Psiquiatria)

  • Delayed neuropsychiatric syndrome after carbon monoxide poisoning
    • Authors: Actas Espanolas de Psiquiatria

  • Delayed neuropsychiatric syndrome after carbon monoxide poisoning
    • Authors: Actas Espanolas de Psiquiatria
