  • Effect of TiO2 Photoanode Films on the Performance of Dye Sensitized Solar
Cell with Rauvolfia Vomitoria Fruit Extract

    • Authors: J. K. Datte; S. A. Yapi, L. K. Kouassi, G. Y. T. Douhoré
      Pages: 1 - 5
Abstract: Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) were investigated using Rauvolfia vomitoria fruit extract as natural sensitized of TiO2 thin film. The cells were evaluated for various thicknesses of photoanode. The optical properties were analysed with UV-Vis spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The morphology of the TiO2 surface was observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Energy levels were estimated by cyclic voltammetry, in the presence of tetrabutalamonium tetrafluoroborate (TBATFB), in anhydrous acetonitrile solution (ACN). The results showed that the optimum thickness is 10 μm which achieved a short-circuit current density (Jsc) of 0.1 mA/cm² and an open voltage (Voc) of 0.65 V while the conversion efficiency ) is 0.055%.

  • Modeling of Deformations of Fine Clayey Soils Stabilized Using Sugar Cane
Molasses: Extension of the Ferber Model

    • Authors: Nice Ngouallat Mfoutou; Narcisse Malanda, Paul Louzolo-Kimbembe
      Pages: 6 - 14
Abstract: Soil stabilization using sugar cane molasses only works in the dry season, not the rainy season. Suppose that humidification influences the intrinsic parameters of earth materials (suction, porosity) and even the stabilization capacity of sugar cane molasses. What is the effect of humidification on soil and materials stabilized using sugar cane molasses. The proposed models link the inter-aggregate voids, the intra-aggregate voids, the microstructural stability index, the suction of the earth material and the relative humidity of the medium. The theoretical study of these models shows that: - The inter-aggregate voids increase with humidity relative, the intra-aggregate voids decrease with increasing of the relative humidity and the stability decreases with increasing of the humidity relative. - The inter-aggregate voids decrease with increasing of the suction, the intra- aggregate voids increase with the suction and the index of stability increases with suction. The breaking point obtained using these models, the minimum point beyond which the adhesion forces in the aggregate and between the aggregates in the soil or earth material become weak to ensure long-term cohesion between the aggregates in the material is Pr (=35.768%, =0.5262, =0.078, = 0.0005262), et S=146 MPa, below which the cohesion of aggregates in the earthen material is too weak. The proposed models mathematically translate the effects of relative humidity and suction on voids in earthen materials. They explain the deformations that take place in the soil or earthen materials at the level of the microstructure (intra-aggregate voids and inter-aggregate voids) under the effect of humidity or suction.
