  • Comparative study of the effects of fresh and canned Naftussya bioactive
           water on neuro-endocrine-immune complex and metabolism in chronic
           pyelonephritis patients

      Abstract: Background. There are several patented methods of preservation of medicinal waters of the Naftussya type. The authors of the patents as evidence of the correctness of the methods cite the facts of preservation of the ability of canned water to enhance motility rat’s v. portae in vitro and/or increase diuresis. However, such tests are not attributive. The most characteristic manifestation of the biological activity of Naftussya water is the stimulation of phagocytosis through the mediation of the nervous and endocrine systems. Another "Method of preservation of hydrogen sulfide mineral waters" was recently patented. The purpose of this study is to compare the impact of fresh and canned by this method Naftussya water on its targets in patients with chronic pyelonephritis. Materials and Methods. The object of clinical-physiological observation were residents of the city of Truskavets’ (21 men aged 24-67 years and 8 women 33-76 years) with chronic pyelonephritis in remission. The subject of the study were the phagocytic function of neutrophils, excretory function of kidneys, leukocyturia and bacteriuria levels, components of microbiota of feces as well as HRV and endocrine parameters. Results. Weekly use of fresh Naftussya water causes an increase in the reduced content of probiotics in the microbiota and a decrease in the increased content of conditionally pathogenic microflora, which is accompanied by an increase in reduced bactericidal capacity of neutrophils against both E. coli and Staph. aureus, normal diuresis, phosphaturia, magnesiumuria, ureauria while reduction of bacteriuria and leveling of leukocyturia as well as decrease in concentration of uric acid in urine and creatinine and cholesterol in plasma. Favorable changes in neuro-endocrine regulation were revealed. The beneficial effect on the listed parameters of canned Naftussya water is less pronounced, but the differences are statistically insignificant. Conclusion. The obtained results confirm the effectiveness of the Dovzhenko© method for Naftusya water conservation and provide grounds for continuing research into the effects of canned Naftusya water on the body of urological patients.

      Abstract: PCOS is a common endocrine disorder affecting up to 6-10% of women in reproductive age. Patients suffer from many manifestations of this disease including symptoms of hyperandrogenism (hirsutism, acne, androgenetic alopecia), ovulation disorders, infertility, overweight and obesity, glucose-insulin homeostasis disorders (insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes). Many studies emphasize the relationship between the presence of PCOS in patients and the appearance of depression. The median incidence of depression in women with this syndrome was 36.6%, while in the group of women without PCOS it was 14.2%. The exact mechanism of this relationship is still unknown, but many factors may play an important role in it, e.g. increased BMI, infertility, high cortisol levels, body image, vitamin D deficiency or elevated inflammation markers.

  • Physiological anthropometric and motor values in relation to 500 metres
           running

      Abstract: The primary purpose of this paper is to determine and prove the impact of loads with different intensities on the treadmill on the heart frequency, as well as to prove the relationship and impact of some anthropometric and motor parameters on the physiological one in the manifest space. In harmony with the purpose of the research, three basic hypotheses have been presented that cover the anthropological research fields. In this paper, 19-year-old students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences are included. To achieve the purpose of the paper, a sample of 80 students who were regular students during the year 2022/2023 was included. Four anthropometric variables, three motor tests (running tests) and four physiological tests (pulse at rest and during loads) are included in this paper. For the three groups of the system of variables, the basic statistical and distribution parameters for each variable, as well as the measures of asymmetry and normal distribution, were calculated. Then the correlations between the variables in the manifest space, as well as the correlations between the system of variables. In order to determine the relationship between predictor variables (anthropometric and motor characteristics) and criterion variables (results of functional skills), regression analysis was applied in the manifest space. The processing of the results shows that the obtained values do not deviate from the normal distribution, which completes their metric characteristics. The impact of morphological and motor factors on heart rate results has not been proven.

  • The influence of some anthropometric parameters on the marathon results of
           the world athletics championships 2019 in Doha

      Abstract: The research was conducted on a sample of 55 successful female marathoners who participated in ten of the most popular marathon races. The sample of subjects includes ten of the best marathoners positioned in every race held at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar. The purpose of the research is to assess the impact of body height, weight and age of marathon runners on the final result in the race.  The collected data is processed by the basic descriptive parameters. The entities have the average weight of 60.81 kg, with the average height of 171.65 cm, at the average age of 32.92, with the achieved average result of 137.86 hours into the race. In the intercorrelation matrix, only a significant correlation coefficient (p<0.001) is obtained for height and body weight. From the regression analysis the influence of the predictor variables (height, weight and age) on the criterion variable – sig.=0,60 (the result of the marathon) is not confirmed, which provides only 36% (RO²=.366) of analysis in the common ground of variability. The remaining 64% of the analysis of the total variability of the criterion variable may be attributed to other anthropological characteristics, and mainly to functional characteristics of the anaerobic type.

  • A painless fracture of a phalanx of the left hand in a patient with type 1
           diabetes – case report

      Abstract: The aim of our study is to present a case report of a patient who, due to advanced symmetrical peripheral diabetic polyneuropathy, was unaware of the fracture of the fifth finger of the left hand and even tried to restore it to its previous position. The 53-year-old patient with type 1 diabetes at the age of 9, who, due to non-compliance with medical recommendations and poor metabolic control (over the last 15 years, HbA1c has never fallen below 8.1%, reaching 11.1% in May 2017), developed  complications such as: ischemic heart disease, diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy and peripheral neuropathy. In February 2019, in the morning, when unscrewing the fuel filler cap in the car, the patient suffered a finger fracture. He remained unaware of this fact all day due to the lack of any pain symptoms. It was only in the evening that he noticed the wrong placement of the fifth finger on his left hand. On the next day, there was a slight soreness with pressure, and the swelling deepened, which prompted him to visit the emergency room. An X-ray examination was performed there, which showed a fracture of the shaft of the proximal phalanx of the fifth finger of the left hand with angular setting of the fragments. The finger was immobilized in a plaster cast and the patient was referred for further check-up in a specialist outpatient clinic. Fortunately, the attempt to set the finger on his own did not cause any significant complications, and after removing the plaster cast, the patient regained the use of the broken finger. A recent electromyographic study confirmed the existence of a very advanced peripheral neuropathy. In summary, improperly treated, poorly controlled type 1 diabetes has serious consequences. It is very important that people suffering from it conduct regular self-monitoring of blood glucose levels and lead a healthy lifestyle.
