    • Authors: Trisniawati Dewi; Richa Noprianty
Abstract: The incidence of the fell is one of the hospital serious problems, especially in the hospitalized patient. The number of fall incidence is one of the main indicators in patient safety and hospital quality. Qualitative study with phenomenology approach was conducted to explore factors affecting the risk of fall in pediatric patients. Four nurses consist of two team leaders and two associate nurses participated in in-depth interviews. The findings from the interviews were triangulated in some process including an interview with the head of an inpatient installation, supervisor, and patient family, participative observation, documentation of form Humpty Dumpty and operational standard prevent the risk of fall. The result data was analyzed with the content analysis method and concluded with a fish bone. Four themes emerged from the analysis: knowledge, human resources, environment, and facilitation. Bad implementation of operational standard procedure, heavy workload of a nurse with unbalance ratio between patient and nurses, the slippery floor, unfixed bedside rails, and unavailability of patient bell have a role in affecting the risk of fall. This study suggests to held fall prevention education, make a review of nurse’s workload with recalculate the ratio of patient and nurse and upgrade the hospital facilitation and environment situation.

  • The Correlation Between Fatigue and Sleep Quality among Patients with
           Heart Failure

    • Authors: Ferdy Lainsamputty; Hsing-Mei Chen
Abstract: Heart failure (HF) patients may experience fatigue and poor sleep quality due to impairment in cardiac structure or function. These distressing symptoms may create a vicious circle leading to poor outcomes but often undervalued and ignored among patients. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between fatigue and sleep quality among patients with HF in Indonesia. A cross-sectional, correlational study design was performed with 153 convenience samples recruited from a cardiology outpatient department at a medical center in Indonesia. Descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses (independent t-tests, one-way Analysis of Variance, and Pearson correlation), and hierarchical regression analysis were utilized to analyze the data. Instruments included demographic characteristics and clinical variables questionnaire, the Multidimensional Assessment of Fatigue (MAF), and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The mean age of participants was 61.86±10.79 years old and the mean duration of HF diagnosis was 4.26±5.48 years. All participants complained of fatigue, while 73.2% had poor sleep quality. Participants who were poor sleepers had a higher proportion of individuals used massage, not having taken dyslipidemia drugs, had normotension or well-controlled blood pressure, and suffered from hypertensive heart disease (HHD) and renal diseases. All fatigue domains, except the degree of interference in ADL, was significantly associated with sleep quality. However, only the timing domain determined sleep quality, meaning, the longer the fatigue, the poorer the sleep quality. This study suggests future interventions should be directed to decrease the level of severity, distress reduction, and particularly shorten fatigue duration should be developed to improve the sleep quality.

The FCC needs basic data about the needs of the family who are caring for it, so the need for the family can be identified therefore nursing intervention can be done optimally. One measure that has been developed to assess family needs is Critical Care Family Needs Inventory (CCFNI). The purpose of this study was to analyze the CCFNI questionnaire in Indonesian version. This study tried to test the questionnaire through several steps translation into Indonesian, validity testing in the form of validity content documents (CVI) and construct validity and reliability testing. The results of the CVI test on 45 Indonesian language CCFNI questionnaire statements found that the CVI value was in the range 0.6-0.9 obtained 36 valid statement items, while the results of the construct validity test were found to be valid. Reliability test results obtained an alpha value of 0.97 which means it is very reliable. The conclusion is that the Indonesian version of the CCFNI questionnaire which is translated into Kebutuhan Keluarga Pasien di Ruang Perawatan Intensif (K3PI) is valid and reliable.

           Risk Factors

    • Authors: Eka Afrima Sari; Seizi Prista Sari; Sri Hartati Pratiwi
Abstract: Coronary heart disease is one of the main causes of mortality rate in the world.  This disease is affected by several risk factors. People who have high or moderate risk factors for coronary heart disease should have good preventive behavior, but this also requires a good level of self-efficacy as well, so that the expected behavior can be performed. This study aimed to determine the level of community self-efficacy of coronary heart disease based on characteristic risk factors. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach. Participant consisted of 70 people in Desa Limusgede, West Java, Indonesia acquired through a non-probability technique of purposive sampling. Self-efficacy was measured using a self-efficacy questionnaire (validity value in the range of 0.484 to 0.773 and reliability value 0.862) while risk factor data were determined by age, body mass index, blood pressure, smoking behavior, diabetes mellitus, and physical activity which were referenced by Jakarta Cardiovascular Score. Data were analyzed using median and frequency distribution. The results showed that median (minimum-maximum score) of self-efficacy is 26.00 (11-41), most of the respondent (62.86%) had high self-efficacy of coronary heart disease and more than a half respondent (47.14%) had moderate and high-risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Further, almost half the respondent who had high self-efficacy also had moderate and high-risk factors for cardiovascular disease. So, the health professional must concern in activities to decrease the level of cardiovascular risk factors, such as health education, health promotion, and disease prevention.

Many factors cause the occurrence of hypospadias, one of which is exposure to pesticides. Indonesian’s people have a livelihood as farmers, hence the case of contaminated pesticides often occur in the agroindustrial environment. The type of this research is analytic observational by a case-control method which conducted in November until December 2017. The sample of this research is 40 samples divides into 20 sample case groups and 20 sample control groups. The data obtained were analyzed by Chi-square test and obtained significant result between the employment relationship (p = 0.011) and pesticide exposure with categories pesticide user (p = 0.026), spacing distance with mother position (p = 0.011), pesticide contact time (p = 0.004), pesticide storage area (p = 0.001) to hypospadias occurrence in the agroindustry environment.

  • Influence of Nutrition Education with Calendar Method in Diabetic
           Patients' Blood Glucose

    • Authors: Setyoadi Setyoadi; Heri Kristianto; Siti Nur Afifah
Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a disease that required good self-management. Noncompliance in diet and meal plans cause the instability of blood glucose levels. Nutrition education calendar method can improve knowledge and ability to consume food that matches the number, hours and types with dietary adjustments listed in the calendar diet. This study aimed to determine the effect of nutrition education calendar method on blood glucose levels of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Community Health Center Pakis Malang. Pre-experimental design one group pretest-posttest with purposive sampling was conducted in this study and sample obtained as many as 21 people. Blood glucose levels were measured before and after the nutrition education calendar methods. Compliance in using calendar method with the observation sheet. Statistical analysis values obtained by Wilcoxon, the p-value of 0.007 (p <0.05). The results of the analysis, 16 respondents showed a decrease in blood glucose levels and 5 respondents experienced an increase in blood glucose levels after the given intervention. It can be concluded that there are differences between blood glucose levels before and after nutrition education calendar method. Differences in blood glucose levels can be influenced by controlling diet respondent in accordance with the calendar method in education, but also antidiabetic drugs, and sports. Should be added to the control group to determine objectively the effect of nutrition education on the calendar method.
