  • Fast Iris Localization Based on Image Algebra and Morphological Operations

    • Authors: Ashwaq T. Hashim; Zina A. Saleh
Abstract: The localization of the iris is the most significant factor in biometrics of the iris, which traditionally assumes strictly controlled environments. The proposed method includes the pupillary and limbic iris boundaries localization. A primary advantage of image arithmetic operations is that the process is straightforward and therefore fast, these characteristics are employed and combined with the morphological operators in the designing of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm takes into account the noise area which is found in various parts of the eye image such as light reflections, focus, and small visible iris. The experimental results are conducted on a collection of iris images consist of 756 images belong to Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Automation (CASIA V-1) and 450 images belong to Multi Media University (MMU V-1) databases.  The results indicate a high level of accuracy using the proposed technique. Moreover, the comparison results with the state-of-the-art iris localization algorithms expose considerable improvement in segmentation accuracy while being computationally more efficient.

  • Analyzing the Relationship between Ethical Marketing and Strategic Balance
: An a Comparative Study in a Sample of Companies in the Industrial Sector
in the Provinces of Babylon and Holly Karbala,

    • Authors: Adel Hadi Albaghdadi; May Mohammed Dhafer
Abstract: Objective: The objective of our present study is to analyze the relationship between ethical marketing and strategic balance in the sample companies represented by the private and public companies operating in the industrial sector in the provinces of Babylon and Holly Karbala. Methodology/ Design: The problem of the study was formulated through several questions regarding the relationship between the variables of the study and its nature by which the objectives of the study were identified and represented in hypothetical scheme which shaped the formulation of the hypotheses that were scaled in the advanced statistical program "partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM)" by analyzing data provided by the research tool (questionnaire) after applying it on the research community members who have been picked randomly: sections and branches managers from different administrative levels. (57) Questionnaires were distributed to public and private sector companies, (54) have been retrieved and (4) were excluded for being invalid so the final number is (50). For the analysis of data, the researcher used a set of statistical methods in the advanced statistical program (SmartPLS V.3) for data analysis because of the scarcity of research and studies using this advanced program and the accuracy of its results that can help in reaching objective and precise conclusions, as well as the use of (SPSS v22) to evaluate the scaling tools. Theoretical results: there is an ambiguous perception concerning the nature of relationships among current study variables represented in the independent variable (Ethical Marketing) and subsidiary variable (Strategic Balance). Practical results: the most important practical results reached by the researcher can be summarized in the presence of a relation of direct, positive and moral effect between ethical marketing and strategic balance of both sectors.     The value and authenticity of the study: The value of the research lies in establishing the rules of knowledge and concepts of its variables through clarifying the relation of direct, positive and moral impact on these variables after applying them to the constituents of the study society and through a comparison that resulted in the superiority of private sector companies in their application of ethical marketing that achieves strategic balance and directing it towards the sector of a great impact on the Iraqi economy.

Abstract: This study discusses the phenomenon of money laundering and its impact on the financial sector in general and the Iraqi banking sector. The research methodology describes money laundering in detail and the three basic stages of money laundering, placement, layering, and integration. How and where money laundering is a key reason to address this problem and what is the role of governments' It also deals with the impact of money laundering on the Iraqi economy, which is the theft of banks, the suspension of industrial projects, terrorism and corruption. The most important recommendations that limit this phenomenon is international cooperation and legal assistance in money laundering investigations. The use of programming and electronic systems to enter the information of owners of real estate and businesses to detect suspicious activities. To reduce this problem requires the establishment of specialized units in the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance, Justice and the security services to apply all laws against money laundering. As for the Iraqi banking sector, it is necessary to verify the identity of the owners of the funds deposited in banks. Inform the competent authorities by the bank's management of any suspicious activity. In addition to confirming the documents proving the legality of the funds deposited.

  • Cardiac Hydatidosis

    • Authors: Walla Luay Al_Falluji; Ammar Naif, Wissam Al Obaidy
Abstract: Cardiac hydatid disease is rare, occurring in about 2 % of the patients, the disease usually involves the myocardium and is associated with a wide spectrum of presentations, hence the patients may be asymptomatic or may present with a serious condition like severe valvular dysfunction, congestive heart failure, pulmonary embolism or conductive disturbances. Full histories, a proper examination of the chest, ECG, CXR, Echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, CT scan of the chest and immunoblot tests are essential diagnostic tools. Fifteen patients diagnosed preoperatively as having cardiac hydatid cysts were involved in this retrospective study. There was neither sex predilection nor any age limit for the disease. Any part of the heart could be involved, but the Left ventricle was the commonest site. Many patients included in the study were associated with extracardiac involvement especially the liver. Removal of the cyst(s) surgically stays the treatment of choice.

    • Authors: Noran Jameel Ibraheem; Manar Muhammad Hasan Al-Murshidi, Walaa Saleh Hasan
Abstract: Ionized calcium has a biological activity, this study has been debated whether the status of calcium homeostasis in correlated with anti-Mullerian hormone level how does influence the reproductive ability in some pre-menopausal women. The current study was conducted in the college of science for women during the period from February 2015 to May 2016, study population was involved eighty volunteer women (20-35) years enrolled in this study, fifty women with primary infertility considered as a study group, while the other 30 volunteers parous women considered as a control group. ELISA kit was used to assay the serum level of anti-Mullerian and parathyroid hormone, whereas colorimetric technique was applied to evaluate the total calcium, albumin, and inorganic phosphorus serum level, while ionized calcium is achieved by special equation depending on the total calcium and albumin level. Independent T-test analysis was applied to specify any significant variation for investigated parameters between control and study group, linear regression analyses were used to explore the association between ionized calcium and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level in both control and infertile groups. The results revealed that infertile group have significantly (p<0.001) lower mean serum ionized calcium level(4.31±0.61mg/dl)than the control group(5.57±0.45mg/dl) accompanied by significantly (p<0.001) increase in parathyroid hormone level (49.2±32.2 ng/dl) in a study group in comparison with a control group whose reported (92.1±22.2ng/dl) mean concentration ,infertile women revealed significantly decrease mean level in anti-Mullerian hormone (2.59±1.38ng/d)  compared with  the control group (3.44±1.00ng/dl), linear regression analyses revealed a significant positive relation between's ionized calcium concentration and AMH level (r=0.58, p=0.000, n=40) in the control group, as well, there was a significant strong positive connection was seen between serum ionized calcium and AMH level for the infertile group (r=0.70, p=0.000, n=50),our conclusion suggested that any physiological process including reproductive ability may need in one way or another to balance in the availability of ionized calcium.

  • Study the Relation of Cloud Cover with Evaporation and Solar Radiation
           over Baghdad City

    • Authors: Nagham Thari Ibraheem
Abstract: Cloud cover effects on most other meteorological variables. It effects on the amount of radiation entering the boundary layer of the atmosphere and thus it controls the amount of energy within this range. Evaporation is also an important factor in the formation of clouds and directly affects the energy equation. This study was based on daily data of cloud cover and evaporation values taken from Iraqi meteorological organization and seismology for the period 2000 to 2005 for the city of Baghdad, as well as the solar radiation data of the three components (direct - diffuse - reflected) and the same location and period time period taken from European center of solar energy services for professionals study (soda), monthly and annual rates were calculated to show the correlation between these variables.  To carry out statistical operations and convert the values of the cloud cover to the proportions of eight parts to indicate the proportion of clouds in the sky and drawing diagrams, the results showed that there is a significant effect of the evaporation processes on the formation of the cloud cover. High evaporation values are associated with high values of the cloud cover and have a high positive correlation coefficient value hits (0.74). The results showed that the cloud cover values are inversely proportional to the direct and diffused radiation compounds and have a negative correlation coefficient of  (-0.93). This effect is less on the reflected radiation component. In general, the cloud cover can be used to estimate the values of some other meteorological variables, especially in winter seasons.

    • Authors: Moamar H. Idan; Raheem G. Kadhim
Abstract:       During this search, the polymer poly-aniline hydrochloride (PANI-HCL)  was prepared with different weights before and after irradiation in the form of films using the casting method. The films were recorded with the cobalt element(CO60), which sends a gama (1.2) Mev for a period of (72) hours. The structural properties of the (FT-IR) were studied. The results showed that the active groups of the recorded polymer were consistent with the chemical composition and topographic study of the prepared film surfaces. The images showed that the recorded polymer is homogeneous and its color changes after irradiation.       The electrical properties included the measurement of the hall effect and the continuous electrical conductivity and the behavior of the current and voltages where the results showed that the Hall coefficient of the polymer mixture recorded before and after the irradiation are carriers of the (n-type) and through the measurement of current- voltages show results that the polymer recorded conduct the behavior of ohmic before irradiation and walk Conduction of a semiconductor after irradiation. In addition, the results of electrical conductivity were shown to be less after irradiation.

Image from Customer Viewpoint (Analytical Study of the Insurance Industry)

    • Authors: Majed Abdul Amir Mohsen; Ahmad Abdul Reda Enad
Abstract: This study aimed to address the concept of deceptive marketing in the most important activity of companies, i.e., marketing, which is the lifeline on which companies depend on the process of financing and product selling. Additionally, through marketing, companies can communicate directly with customers, and this activity includes marketing practices that are deceptive or misleading. The study dealt with the presentation of the components of the marketing mix, and how each component can include deceptive or misleading practices. Marketers practice customer manipulation with the intention of changing customers' behavior and attitudes towards achieving the greatest possible profit in lesser time. With the spread of marketing deception and marketing fraud in various areas, the phenomenon is growing not only in product marketing but also in service marketing, especially insurance services, as many marketers and sales representatives believe that success and profit-making are associated with those practices. The study addressed many factors facilitating these practices, as well as the ways in which marketing deception is practiced and the impact of such practice on the perceptions that form in the minds of customers about companies. One of the most important objectives of the study was to substantiate the relationship between the dimensions of marketing deception and the dimensions of the mental image of the organization by relying on the statistical analysis of the initial data of the study, which was collected through questionnaire that was prepared for this purpose and distributed to a random sample of 225 customers of insurance companies operating in the insurance market in Iraq.   The most important findings of the study show that deceptive marketing practiced through the service marketing mix, among other dimensions, affects the mental image that the customers hold towards the organization in negative and varying ways. This study presents a number of recommendations, the foremost of which is the necessity of educating marketers and companies about the negativity of deceptive practices on the company in the long term, as well as paying attention to the mental image held by customers towards the insurance companies because of its impact on the formation of positive impressions towards the company, and thus increasing market share of the company through its reputation in the insurance  market .
