  • Synthesis, in silico and in vitro anti-proliferative studies of some novel
           benzamido substituted imidazo[1,2-b]pyridazin-2-ones

      Abstract: ted for their possible anti-proliferative activity. The title compounds were accomplished by the reaction of various 4-Arylidine-2-Phenyl-Oxazol-5-Ones with 3-Aminopyridazine in the presence of ethylene glycol. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds was characterised by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Mass spectra and elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their possible anti-proliferative activity on human cancer cell lines A375 and Colo-205 using MTT assay. Among the tested compounds, compound 6m and 6n showed potent anti-proliferative activity on both cell lines and compounds 6i, 6g and 6d also demonstrated significant activity. Molecular properties and toxicity were predicted for compounds 6a-6n with OSIRIS property explorer. All the tested compounds were proved to be druggable candidates and free from toxicity and teratogenecity. The molecular docking studies of synthesized compounds 6a-6n on B-Raf V600E kinase (PDB ID: 3IDP) further revealed that the active compounds bound to the active site and interacting with Cys532, Phe595, Lys483 residues are comparable with the interactions of Dabrafenib. These studies broadened the scope of imidazo[1,2-b]pyridazine benzamides as promising antiproliferative agents.

  • Tryfuzol - New original veterinary drug

      Abstract: Our team of scientists has explored scientific journals for the recent years. It was found that furan substituted 1,2,4-triazoles are promising for the future studying because of their low toxicity and wide range of activity. Ukrainian publications about the studying physical, chemical and biological properties of furan substituted 1,2,4-triazoles prove their prospects as future drugs. The aim of the study was to explore existing publications of scientists about various properties studies of the active pharmaceutical ingredient of veterinary drug "Tryfuzol". This work shows the analysis result of the publications about studying the properties of piperidine 2-(5-(furan-2-yl)-4-phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3- ylthio)acetate – the active pharmaceutical ingredient of new original veterinary drug "Tryfuzol". First time the molecule of the active ingredient of the drug "Tryfuzol" - piperidine 2-(5-(furan-2-yl)-4- phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-ylthio)acetate is mentioned in the PhD (candidate) where the method of synthesis was described, the physical-chemical properties and the acute toxicity were studied, primary pharmacological screening was conducted. At this stage scientists proved prospect for further study of the biological properties of piperidine 2-(5-(furan-2-yl)-4-phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-ylthio)acetate. In the work the authors investigated the possibility of qualitative and quantitative determination of compound in 1% and 2,5% solutions and publication is devoted to the developing of quantification methods of piperidine 2-(5-(furan-2-yl)-4-phenyl- 4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-ylthio)acetate by non-aqueous potentiometric titration. Interesting results about the determination of possible metabolites of the active pharmaceutical ingredient of the future drug substance show scientists in the following publications.

      Abstract: Hypertension affects an important part of the adult population in our country as well as all over the world. Hypertension has a high impact on the quality of life of the individual and also leads to high morbidity and mortality. It is necessary for patients to continue their blood pressure control, to comply with drug treatment and other recommendations and to make rational use of antihypertensive drugs. Pharmacists play an important role as primary health care providers in ensuring the continuity of treatment. In this preliminary study, it was aimed to evaluate the consulting role of pharmacists in the treatment of hypertension. For this purpose 54 pharmacists randomly selected among pharmacies in İstanbul conducted a questionnaire survey between March – May 2015. The results were analyzed statistically and percentage values were calculated. According to the results, pharmacists were found to be partially effective in rational treatment of hypertension, monitoring and patient education. It is considered that the pharmacist's counseling role and the rational drug use in the treatment of hypertension will be increased by increasing the in-service training of pharmacists.

      Abstract: Staphylococcus epidermidis, a commensal bacterium, commonly found on the surfaces of the human body especially on skin. It is a member of human normal flora. Nowadays, S. epidermidis is regarded as the most frequent cause of nosocomial infections especially in immunocompromised patients. Biofilm formation is essential for its pathogenicity in these infections. The aim of this study was to investigate the antibacterial efficacy of five commonly used antiseptics (7.5% povidone-iodine, 10% povidone-iodine, 70% ethanol-0.5% chlorhexidine digluconate, 70% 2-propanol- chlorhexidine digluconate, 70% 2-propanol) against biofilm forming (S. epidermidis ATCC 35984) and non-biofilm forming (S. epidermidis ATCC 12228) S. epidermidis strains. Susceptibilities of the strains to antiseptics were investigated by quantitative suspension test at contact times of 30 seconds and one minute. According to the results of this in vitro study, there is no difference found between the antibacterial efficacies of tested antiseptics against biofilm forming and non-biofilm forming S. epidermidis.

  • Quantitative analysis of thymoquinone in Nigella sativa L. (black cumin)
           seeds and commercial seed oils and seed oil capsules from Turkey -

      Abstract: Medicinally and economically important plant Nigella sativa L., popularly known as çörek otu in Turkey, is cultivated in many parts of Turkey. The most important component of its oil is thymoquinone. Nigella sativa is used in alternative medicine to treat cancer, rheumatism, headaches, and many diseases for thousands of years. In this study, 10 different seed and seed oil samples that have been supplied from local markets in Ankara, were investigated for their thymoquinone contents by HPLC.
