  • Assessment of user preference to information resources in agricultural
           libraries in north India

    • Abstract: Title: Assessment of user preference to information resources in agricultural libraries in north India
Authors : Bhat, Nazir Ahmad; Ganai, Shabir Ahmad : Through a survey, this study assesses the preference of users with regard to print and electronic information resources in agricultural libraries of north India and to identify the preferred mode of access thereof. The required data were collected, employing questionnaires and through telephonic surveys. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was used for analysing the data. The level of association between the user preference and the corresponding variable was derived through Chi Squared (χ2) Test. It is found that the users of agricultural libraries in north India use information resources almost equally both in print and electronic forms, although online resources are favored over print as they are ‘easy to search and retrieve’, ‘easy and quick to access’ and ‘more up-to-date’ than their print counterparts.Page(s): 96-99

    • Abstract: Title: Copyright issues in the academic environment
Authors : Jana, Siladitya : The paper highlights the issues in the prominent copyright case between some big publishers and a Delhi University photocopy shop. The paper also addresses the question whether the present copyright system in India requires a relook in view of the changing socio-economic conditions of our society and the world at large. Concludes that supporting students and researchers in their study and research are essential and some changes are required in the present copyright toward this end. • Use of social bookmarking sites by research scholars of central
           universities in North India

    • Abstract: Title: Use of social bookmarking sites by research scholars of central universities in North India
Authors : Asmi, Nowsheeba Ashraf; Madhusudhan, Margam : A structured questionnaire survey was carried out on a sample population of 720 research scholars in twelve Central Universities of North India. Five hundred and ninety-seven filled-in questionnaires were received and analysed. The findings indicate that research scholars usually use bookmarking tags to organize the online research-related resources. LibraryThing is the most used SBS for building a personal library with links, pages, notes, and pictures. The study recommends that university libraries should help the research scholars to locate required resources and stresses upon the responsibility of library professionals and research supervisors to motivate the research scholars to effectively use SBSs for their research work.Page(s): 105-111

  • A bibliometric analysis of automatic and semi-automatic ontology
           construction processes

    • Abstract: Title: A bibliometric analysis of automatic and semi-automatic ontology construction processes
Authors : Dutta, Biswanath; Sinha, Prashant Kumar : Through a bibliometric analysis, the paper reveals the current state and the global research trend in the areas of automatic ontology construction process (AOCP) and semi-automatic ontology construction process (SOCP) during the period of 2000-2016. Scopus, GoogleScholar and Scitepress digital library were used to extract the data for analysis. The study revealed that the majority of the works were published in conference proceedings. China was found to be the most contributing country in this area followed by USA, France, and Spain. The University of Karlsruhe contributed the maximum publications in both AOCP and SOCP whereas Peking University contributed largely to AOCP and Jozef Stefan Institute contributed largely only to SOCP. The majority of the researchers were from computer science background but a significant number of researchers were also from other disciplines including engineering and allied operations, library and information science, management and auxiliary services, making this research area truly interdisciplinary.Page(s): 112-121
