           sustainable urban drainage systems

      Abstract: ResumenEste artículo es una síntesis del proyecto de investigación realizado en la Universidad de Sevilla para diseñar un modelo de análisis que permita la comprobación de la viabilidad técnica y socioeconómica de los proyectos de rehabilitación hidrológica de barrios urbanos, mediante la construcción de infraestructuras de drenaje sostenibles. El modelo propuesto presenta novedades significativas con respecto a los empleados tradicionalmente en los sistemas urbanos de drenaje sostenible. En primer lugar, se parte de la base de la realización de análisis previos que permitan comprobar la posibilidad de recuperación del agua de lluvia para que, tras sencillos tratamientos para eliminar sus posibles contaminantes, pueda ser usada en labores urbanas del barrio que no requieren agua de calidad. Además, al plantearse como un proyecto cuyo objetivo es “la rehabilitación hidrológica” de un barrio urbano habitado, se contempla medidas clave para conseguir la interacción con los agentes sociales que intervendrán en la gestión local del ciclo del agua, incluyendo medidas sociales y educativas relacionadas con el uso del agua. La finalidad del modelo es aportar los suficientes datos, tanto relacionados con las características del lugar como con la calidad del agua, para poder diseñar unos Sistemas Urbanos de Drenaje Sostenible que sean adecuados.AbstractThis paper summarizes a research project conducted in the University of Seville, in order to design an analysis model that allows the assessment of technical and socio-economic viability of hydrological rehabilitation projects in urban neighbourhoods, through the construction of sustainable drainage infrastructures. The model proposed presents significant developments when compared with the ones traditionally used in sustainable urban drainage systems. On the one hand, the possibility of recovering rainwater with simple treatments, eliminating potential contaminants, has been verified previously, testing water for urban purposes with no quality requirements. Moreover, since the main objective of this project is the “hydrological rehabilitation” of an inhabited neighbourhood, the interaction with social agents is a key factor that must be considered for a more appropriate local management of the water cycle, thus social and educational measurements related to the use of water have been included. The aim of this model is to present sufficient data, both referred to the water quality and hydrological conditions of the neighborhood, in order to design adequate Sustainable Drainage Urban Systems.

  • Sobre inercia térmica y aislamiento de viviendas en clima cálido-húmedo
           = On thermal inertia and insulation of buildings in warm-humid climate

      Abstract: ResumenEn el acondicionamiento natural de una vivienda en clima cálido-húmedo juegan un papel importante factores tales como la inercia térmica, el aislamiento, las diferentes tipologías constructivas y la ventilación. En este contexto, hay diversidad de opiniones sobre las funcionalidades de la inercia térmica y del aislamiento, por lo que este trabajo plantea revisar dichos factores en una localización geográfica representativa de este tipo de clima como es la de La Habana (Cuba). Se estudia la amortiguación y el desfase de la onda térmica; la evolución libre de las temperaturas interiores mediante simulación por ordenador, tomando como ejemplo una vivienda de aproximadamente 60 m2 y sistema constructivo habitual de los bloques de viviendas de La Habana; y la incidencia del aislamiento aplicado a los cerramientos exteriores en el acondicionamiento natural de la vivienda, teniendo en cuenta las características concretas del clima cálido-húmedo que nos ocupa.AbstractFor the natural conditioning of a dwelling in warm-humid climate, factors such as thermal inertia, insulation, different building typologies and ventilation play an important role. In this context, there are different opinions on the functionalities of thermal inertia and isolation. This paper proposes to review these factors in a representative geographical location of warm-humid climate such as that of Havana (Cuba). Both the damping and the lag of the thermal wave are studied. The free evolution of the inner temperatures by means of computer simulation are also analyzed, in a dwelling of 60 m2 and traditional building system of the housing blocks in Havana. Likewise, the investigation focus on the effects of the insulation layer of the external enclosures in the natural conditioning of the house under the above mentioned conditions and its repercussion in comfort. Appropriate strategies for the environmental conditioning of houses are inferred.

      Abstract: ResumenLa metodología BIM (Building Information Modelling), ampliamente implantada en el sector de la edificación y de la arquitectura, ha transformado la manera de desarrollar tanto los proyectos como las obras de construcción. Si bien la esencia de esta metodología se basa en la generación de un modelo tridimensional, la visualización de éste a través de dispositivos bidimensionales hace que la experiencia e interacción con el modelo no sea plena. Es por ello que la aparición en el mercado de nuevas tecnologías como la realidad virtual y la realidad aumentada, abren un amplio abanico de posibilidades ligadas al sector de la construcción. En este sentido, en Acciona Ingeniería se ha desarrollado un proyecto piloto en colaboración con Trimble y Microsoft donde a partir de un modelo BIM se ha creado una realidad aumentada basada en hologramas, que permitan recrear una simulación aplicada a la construcciónAbstractThe BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology, widely implemented in the building and architecture sector, has transformed the way to develop both projects and construction works. Although the essence of this methodology is based on the generation of a three-dimensional model, the visualization of it through two-dimensional devices means that the experience and interaction with the model is not complete. That is why the appearance in the market of new technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality, open a wide range of possibilities linked to the construction sector. In this sense, Acciona Engineering has developed a pilot project in collaboration with Trimble and Microsoft where, based on a BIM model, an augmented reality based on holograms has been created, allowing to recreate a simulation applied to construction

      Abstract: ResumenInaugurada en 1918, la Plaza de Toros Monumental de Sevilla fue uno de los edificios de referencia en los primeros años del hormigón armado en España, llegando a alcanzar relevancia a nivel internacional. Su clausura en 1921 y demolición en 1930, supusieron una pérdida irreparable para el patrimonio arquitectónico de la ciudad. El análisis de la evolución del solar que ocupó la plaza, desde su demolición hasta que se construyeron los primeros edificios, permite determinar que no fueron condicionantes urbanísticos, sino intereses de otra índole, los que motivaron su demolición. En base al único resto del edificio existente, una puerta del vallado, en este trabajo se restituye aproximadamente su ubicación, lo que permite percibir la magnitud de sus dimensiones.AbstractInaugurated in 1918, the Monumental Plaza de Toros de Sevilla was one of the buildings of reference in the early years of reinforced concrete in Spain, coming to have international relevance. Its closure in 1921 and demolition in 1930, supposed an irreparable loss to the architectural patrimony of the city. The analysis of the evolution of the site that occupied the bullring, from the demolition until the first buildings were built, allows determining that there were not urbanistic factors, but other interests, which motivated the demolition. Based on the only remaining part of the existing building, a gate of its fence, in this work is restored approximately the location of the building, which allows to perceive the magnitude of its dimensions.

      Abstract: ResumenEn este trabajo se analiza el comportamiento a compresión de piezas de madera de pino silvestre de pequeña escuadría sometidas a un esfuerzo de compresión longitudinal a las fibras. Se han obtenido las propiedades mecánicas asociadas a este tipo de solicitación, se ha analizado qué correlaciones pueden emplearse con éxito y se ha comprobado el ajuste de los valores obtenidos con los estimados por las normas de clasificación visual y resistente de la madera en uso. Para ello se han ensayado a compresión en sentido longitudinal a la fibra y hasta rotura 11 piezas de madera de pino silvestre de pequeña escuadría de 27x140x300mm. Las piezas ensayadas son ME1 según clasificación visual de UNE 56544 y clasificación mecánica C27 según UNE-EN 1912. En las conclusiones se presentan los resultados del análisis de las correlaciones efectuadas en la investigación.AbstractThis paper presents an experimental study of the compression behaviour of small pine wood pieces subjected to a longitudinal - compressive stress to the fibers. The mechanical properties obtained are associated with this type of load. The correlations that can be used successfully have been analysed and the concordance between the values obtained with those estimated by the visual grading rules of sawn timber for structural use has been tested. To this end, 11 small pine wood pieces (27x140x300mm) have been tested, subjected to a longitudinal - compressive stress to the fibers. The wood pieces tested are ME1 according to visual classification of UNE 56544 and C27 according to mechanical classification of UNE-EN 1912. The results of the analysis of correlations are presented in the conclusions.

      Abstract: ResumenEl propósito principal de este trabajo de investigación se centra en el estudio del estado de conservación de las fachadas de 34 inmuebles pertenecientes al Catálogo de Bienes Inmuebles y Elementos Protegidos del Plan General del Ayuntamiento de Cieza (Murcia), concretamente de aquellos situados en el casco urbano, para aportar directrices que garanticen una intervención con materiales sostenibles coherente y respetuosa con el patrimonio arquitectónico de la ciudad. Evidentemente, un desarrollo correcto del estudio diagnóstico constructivo de las fachadas de inmuebles protegidos debe llevarse a cabo en 2 fases: la caracterización constructiva de la arquitectura de sus fachadas y el estudio de lesiones o estado actual que presentan las mismas. Tras analizar los 34 inmuebles se establece una metodología y un modelo sistemático para la documentación del grado de deterioro que presentan las fachadas de los inmuebles del Catálogo de la ciudad. Destacamos que los resultados de materiales propuestos en las fachadas dan unos niveles de deterioro “bajo” o “muy bajo” en el 70 % de los casos analizados, corroborándose el buen estado general de las mismas.AbstractThe main intention of this research work focus interest on the 34 building’s facade from the state of preservation belonging a Municipalities Heritage Catalogue of Cieza's Town (Murcia), it specifically those that located in the urban area from to comply with the guidelines established by sustainable materials coherent and respectful with the architectural heritage of the city. Evidently, a correct development of the diagnostic constructive study of the 34 building’s facade must be carried out in 2 phases: the constructive characterization of the architecture of his building’s facade and the study of the state of conservation or current condition that the same ones present. After analyzing 34 building’s facade methodology and a systematic model it establish for the documentation of a Municipalities Heritage Catalogue of Cieza's Town of the city. We emphasize that the results of proposed materials building’s facade give a few levels of low or very low deterioration in 70 % of the analyzed cases, there being corroborated the good general condition of the same ones.
