  • EVALUATION OF PHYSICAL, PHYSIOLOGICAL AND MOTORIC FEATURES OF BOYS AGED
10-12 YEARS ACCORDING TO BODY MASS INDEX

    • Authors: Ebru Çetin; Neslihan Özcan, Umut Yılmaz
Abstract: Children's motor skill competence can be an important factor that relatesphysical activity level and fitness level to health-related parameters.Purpose:The aim of this study is to evaluate boys aged 10-12 years according totheir physical, physiological and motoric characteristics according to bodymass index, which is known as an important health parameter. Materials andmethods: A total of 226 Underweight(U, n:94), Normal weight  (N, n:92) and Overweight (O, n:40) boys wereparticipated voluntarily according to the body mass index and having a mean ageof 11.7 ± 0.06.Children's height, body weight, body mass index (BMI) werecalculated using the TANITA BC-418 measurement device. For the determination ofmotoric properties, 30-second curl up and push up, sit and reach flexibilitytest, standing long jump, static stability, flexed arm hang, right-left gripforce, 30m sprint, t-agility and 20m shuttle running tests were applied. Results: The data were evaluated statistically in the SPSS 23 program and One-wayANOVA-Tukey test was used to determine the relationship between the groups anda significance level of 0.05 was chosen. Statistically significant differencewas found between each groups in the a lot parameters of flexed arm hang, standing long jump, 20m shuttle run, 30m sprint parameters; O-N, O-U, N-Ubetween groups, 30 sec curl up, 30 sec push-up parameters; O-N, O-U betweengroups, static balance, right-left grip force parameters; O-U, N-U betweengroups, t-agility parameter; O and U between groups. However, no statisticallysignificant difference was found in the flexibility parameter (p<0.05).Conclusion: 10-12 years old boys classified by body mass index according tophysical, physiological and motoric characteristics, it was found that underweightand normal children generally perform better than overweight.

           AND POOMSE PLAYERS

    • Authors: Osman Şenel Özsoy; Serdar Eler, Nebahat Eler
Abstract: The aimof this study was to investigate the physical and physiological parametersbetween elite  taekwondo and poomseathletes. Participants were 45 volunteer athletes (25 elite taekwondo athletesand 20 poomse athletes) from the Turkish National Taekwondo team. Participants’BMI, right and left handgrip strength, VO2max, standing long jump, anaerobic power, 30 m sprint and medicine ball throwing for distance weremeasured and analyzed. The obtained data were evaluated in the SPSS 16 program. In the statistical analysis, t test was used in dependent and independentgroups. The left handgrip strength (p<.05), 30 m sprint (p<.05), medicineball throw for distance (p<.05), and anaerobic power (p <.01) measureswere significantly higher, while BMI, right handgrip strength, VO2max (ml.kg/min), and standing long jump (m) measures were not significantlydifferent. In this study taekwondo athletes were found to be more successful inparameters requiring explosive power compared to poomse athletes. It is thoughtthat this is caused by the specific movement of taekwondo sports and trainingmethod.

    • Authors: Cansel Arslanoğlu; Kadir Baynaz, Kürşat Acar, Ahmet Mor, Gökhan İpekoğlu, Erkan Arslanoğlu
Abstract: In the fieldof sport sciences, there are a lot of studies that describe the relationshipbetween aerobic-anaerobic capacity and leg strength. Beside the basic motoricfeatures that affect performance in the football branch, aerobic and anaerobiccapacity are also an important factor. The aim of this study is to examine therelationship between leg strength and aerobic-anaerobic capacity of footballplayers. 44 football player participated to this study in Sinop ProvinceFootball Teams. The subjects’ age, height, body weight and training year were18.75 ± 0,25 years, 174.16 ± 1,55 cm, 69.28 ± 0,82 kg,  and 7.61 ± 0,33 years respectively. Takeiisometric leg dynamometer was used to measure leg strength of subjects, 20 mshuttle run test was used for aerobic capacity and RAST (Running-BasedAnaerobic Sprint Test) were applied for anaerobic capacity and fatigue index.First, it was determined with Shapiro Wilk and Levene test whether the datashowed a normal distribution or not. Spearman’s correloations were used toexplore associations between  The averageleg strength, aerobic capacity  andanaerobic fatique index of sublects were found 134,886±15,92 kg, 50,07 ± 5,84 ml/kg/min and 9,07 ± 2,72 w/srespectively. As a result of the analyze, there was no correlation between legstrength-aerobic capacity and leg strength-anaerobic capacity in footballpalyers p>0.05. There are no relationship leg strength and aerobic-anaerobiccapacity. It is recommended that, the future studies be considered withdifferent athlete profiles  and trainingperiods.

  • EXAMINATION OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT LEVELS OF BASKETBALL PROVINCIAL
           REPRESENTATIVE

    • Authors: Emre Türegün; Alpay Alev
Abstract: The objective of this research is to analyze the commitment of ProvincialBasketball Representatives to the Federation in terms of emotional commitment, continuous commitment and normative commitment, including various demographicalcharacteristics. The population of this study comprises of any and all theprovincial representatives working under the Basketball Federation. For thispurpose, 81 voluntary provincial representatives, 2 of them are women, while 79of them are men, under the Turkish Basketball Federation, participated in thisstudy. The survey was sent to the provincial representatives via e-mail, thusbeing received in the same manner, after which they’re analyzed. Theinformation form of the survey comprises of demographical characteristics and “OrganizationalCommitment Scale” designed by Meyer and Allen (1984) adapted into Turkish byWasti (2000). The conformance of the quantitative data to the normaldistribution was tested with Kolmogorov Smirnov test. Mann Whitney U test wasutilized for the dual-group comparison of quantitative data indicating normaldistribution, while the Kruskal Wallis test was used for three or more groupsindicating normal distribution. Spearman’s Correlation Analysis was applied forthe evaluation of the interactions between the parameters. The Significance wasinterpreted on p<0.05 and p<0,01 scales.Following the research,The lowergrade for “Emotional Commitment” is in the range between “1,67 – 5”, and theaverage is 4,15±0,71. The lower grade for “Continuous Commitment” is in therange between “1,43 – 4,71”, and the average is 2.68±0,66. The lower grade for“Normative Commitment” is in the range between “1, 20 - 5”, and the averageis   3,69±0,82. In accordance with theseresults, no significant difference was observed on the Organizationalcommitment levels of Provincial representatives in line with their age, educational backgrounds of both bachelors and others, as well as their taskpreferences via the analysis carried out on three sub-dimension of commitment(P>0.05). However, a significant difference was observed in the same whenanalyzed in terms of the marital status, term of office, their previouspositions (sportsman, coach, referee, technical commissioner, etc.), includingthe findings obtained (P<0.05). It was found out that the emotional andnormative commitments of the Provincial Representatives to the federation isstrong, while the continuous commitment to the same is weak.
