  • Problems Determination of Teachers’ Who Exposed to Mandatory

      Abstract: Theoverall objective of this research is to determine the problems experienced bythe displaced teachers as a result of an investigation. This research is aqualitative work. Data is obtained by interviews. Snowball effect sampling isused in this research which is the general approach. Workgroup for thisresearch is based on the teachers who got relocated via an investigation to theareas Sancaktepe, Kartal Pendik, Üsküdar, Maltepe, Ümraniye and Kadıköy. Withinthese subjects, 9 teachers who got relocated in 2008 or later are picked viathe snowball technique. For data farming 2 different forms are used, “InterviewQuestions Form” and “Personal Information Form”. According to the findings ofresearch, some manager’s approached prejudiced to relocated teachers. But afterworking with them for a while, reconciliation was concluded. In the process ofinvestigation, inspectors were coming and going to school which led to otherteachers to feel fear, anxiety, nervousness, or even anger against teachersundergoing investigation. Even some of the teachers had problems ofcommunicating with students or colleagues. And relocation process negatively affectedtheir social lives. Relocated teachers had experienced no difficulty in joiningthe professional development activities but had complications in field tripsand sentry duties.

  • Manager and its Qualities According to Kutadgu Bilig

      Abstract: Verbal orwritten literary products are at the forefront of rich information sources ofnations. Kutadgu Bilig, one of the firstTurkish works after Islamism, is an eternal means for Turkish culture. It is possible to find social life, religion,thinking, government understanding, state philosophy and many other culturalcodes of Turks. Kutadgu Bilig has become an objectof many scientific studies in terms of knowing the past, understanding it andproposing a method to the future. From Kutadgu Bilig, it is possible to learnabout Turkish administrators' understanding of state administration, power andpolitics. In this study, Kutadgu Bilig wasexamined in terms of the characteristics that a manager is expected to have inthe context of "manager" and Turkish history and culture. In the study Kutadgu Bilig's sections XII, XVII,XVIII, XXI, XXIII, XXIV, XXV, XXVI, XXVII, XLI, XLII and XLIII have beenexamined in terms of the design of the ruler and the understanding of thestate. However, the other sections of thework were also utilized according to the subject discussed. Citations from the work have been included in thepresentation of the manager features. In the study, the type of the rulerdepicted in Kutadgu Bilig is knowledgeable, powerful, warrior, makes his peoplehappy by expanding the boundaries of his country by managing his state with theknowledge of politics. However, due to the acceptance ofIslam in the Karahanlılar State, the influence of religion in the depictions ofthe ruler is observed. Considering the concept of Turkishstate and sovereignty, it is seen that the features possessed by the ruler arein fact the expected characteristics that a ruler should have. However, with the adoption of a sedentary life in theTurks, it is seen that the steppe type and the alp type are replaced by a moresystematic management approach.

  • Regional Administrations in the European Union: Two Examples and Insights
           for Turkey

      Abstract: In the 1980’s, regional administrationsbegan to be seen as the leading actors of economic and social development aswell as democratic life in the European Union, emphasizing the critical roleplayed by local and regional administrations in the integration process. Sincethe 1990’s, regional administrations in the European Union have been through aprocess of gaining autonomy and localization. With the use of historical anddescriptive research methodology based on literature review, this study aims todescribe the changes in the local and regional administrations in two EurpoeanUnion member states of different administrative traditions, namely France andFederal Republic of Germany, and to evaluate the regional administration reformmade in Turkey in terms of the European Union’s understanding of “region”.

  • Investigatıon of Cognitive-Metacognitive Behaviors of Primary School 4th
           Grade Students in Processes of Understanding the Problem and Prediction

      Abstract: The purpose of this research is to determine the levelof using metacognitive skills in the process of understanding the problem and predictingthrough the behaviors and expressions of the primary 4th grade students duringtheir mathematical problem solving activities. In the research, the case studywas used from the qualitative research methods because it was aimed todetermine what students are doing in problem solving situations, metacognitionskills and problem solving processes in depth which enables the research questionwas examined within its natural environment and from the perspectives ofparticipants. In this context, clinical interviews were conducted with thestudents. The study group consisted of 15 primary school 4th grade studentsstudying at a public school in Kastamonu. "Cognitive and MetacognitiveBehavior Classification Form in Mathematical Problem Solving Processes" wasdeveloped by researchers used as data collection tool in the research.Descriptive analysis technique was used in the analysis of the obtained data.According to the results of the research, it is seen that the students who aremore successful in the problem solving process have more metacognitivebehaviors than the other students.

  • The Investigation of Geography and Social Science Student Teachers
           Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge Self Assessment Level With
           Regard to Different Variables

      Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigateTPACK self-assessment level of Geography and Social Sciences student teacherswith regard to their gender, field, high schools they graduated, possession ofpersonal computers, and computer use level. Baseline descriptive surveyfollowed with causal comparative methodwas used in this quantitative research. 130 senior student teachers wereincluded in the study from Gazi and Ataturk University Faculty of EducationDepartment of Geography Education, and Cumhuriyet University Faculty ofEducation Department of Social Sciences. T-test and ANOVA were used for thedata showing normal distribution for the unrelated samples between thecomponents determining technologicalpedagogical content knowledge self-assessment level and independent variables;Kruskal Wallis H test was used for the data not showing normal distribution. Infindings of this research, significant differences were found in favor of malesfor the comparison of genders’ content knowledge, in favor of vocational highschools for the comparison between general high schools and vocational highschools, in favor of Anatolian teacher training high schools for the comparisonbetween vocational high schools and Anatolian teacher training high schools. Inaddition, it is found that the student teachers possessing personal computerssignificantly have better computer use level than the student teachers notpossessing personal.

  • Comparison of 2009 and 2015 Life Studies Curriculum with the Opinions of
           the Classroom Teachers

      Abstract: This study aims to determine to what extent thecharacteristics of Life Sciences 2015 Curriculum differed from the 2009Curriculum. Also another aim is to define what teachers’ opinions about thesedifferences. To this end, data were collected through a document analysis andan open-ended questionnaire. Participants in the open-ended questionnaire wereselected from the classroom teachers who were coursing according to the 2015curriculum. It was found in the data analysis that there are units instead ofthemes in the 2015 curriculum, the number of attainments and skills weredecreased and of values were increased. According to the opinions of theclassroom teachers on the subject, some of them found the decreasing number ofattainments positive while others found it negative. In addition, at pointswhich teachers find positive about the curriculum, were removal of repetitivesubjects, attainments becoming interrelated and appropriate for the studentlevel, and activities being simple. The points which teachers find negative werehow skills and values do not match attainments, attainments repeat each otherand are not sufficient. Suggestions made by the teachers about thecharacteristics that need to be possessed by Life Sciences curriculum were thatdifferent methods and techniques should be included, activities should beappropriate for the student level and should not repeat each other, they shouldbe made to be fun and derived from students’ experiences.

  • Attitudes of Conservatory Students towards Vocational Education Experience
           and Employment in Future

      Abstract: The factors that affect education in conservatories and the vocational education experience are the history of individual’s education starting in the early years in his/her life, his/her occupational life culture established at very early ages and school experience that is gained through years. These factors, on the other hand, are significant in terms of shaping the future lives of students and occupational choices. In this respect, the goal of this research is to analyze the attitudes of conservatory students towards vocational education experience and their employment in future. The study is carried out in Anadolu University State Conservatory, with Program in String Instruments, Wind and Percussion Instruments and Program in Piano students. Data are obtained through a survey made of two sections; the first section is composed for obtaining demographic information while the second section is an attitude scale. According to the findings of the research, it is determined that conservatory students’ attitudes towards vocational education experience and their employment in future is at the level of indecisiveness and there is a change in student attitudes based on sex variable. Through factor analysis, it is determined that student attitudes are basically categorized under 6 factors.

  • The Scale of Attitudes Toward Supervision: The Validity and Reliability

      Abstract: The purpose of this study is to developa valid and reliable measurement tool measuring the attitudes of superviseestowards supervision. The population of this study was composed of theadministrators and teachers servicing in the central districts of Samsun in the2016-2017 educational year. The sample was composed of 554 administrators andteachers selected randomly from this population and having accepted toparticipate in the study voluntarily. Following the analysis made over 29 itemsby using the exploratory factor analysis, it was understood that the scale wascomposed of three sub-dimensions whose eigenvalues were above 1. and the totalvariance percentage which the three sub-dimensions accounted for together wasfound to be 65,17. Moreover, according to the confirmatory factor analysis, itwas observed that all the items constituted a significant construct under therelevant factors and the standard factor load values were .30 and above. TheCronbach's Alpha value of the total score of the scale was found to be .95, theGuttmann value was determined to be .87 and the Spearman Brown value wascalculated to be .87.
