  • Production in New Spain of insurgent artillery in bronze and wood,
           1810-1811

: This article analyzes the application of the technique and craft skills necessary for the manufacture of weapons during the first two years of the insurgent movement in New Spain. In this first stage the insurgents in different latitudes rushed to melt all metallic material of the daily life that they found in their step to satisfy the new conditions of war, from bells of churches to pots and pans, with the only objective to compose their First bronze guns thanks to the help of characters who had previously had access to the war culture, and even, due to the lack of necessary supplies began to develop curious artillery devices in wood. The central argument of this text is that in war technology is catalyzing itself. Approach that shows a recent line of investigation that enriches the historiography about the independence of Mexico.

  • The Constitution of Cadiz of 1812. Latin American pathways, transfers and
           perspectives

: The Constitution of Cadiz of 1812 made possible the transfer of the liberalism’s ideas to the Hispanic world; tainting public law and the institutional architecture of the new Nation-States, in an enduring way. In the case of Chile, in spite of the brief validity of the Constitution in Chile, its influence is big and can be perceived even today. In recent years, coinciding with the Bicentennial of the Constitution of Cadiz, interesting debates have taken place about its impact on Hispanic American constitutional law in the XIXth century and up until the present time. Issues like citizenship, federalism or human rights, among many others, have given birth to respective research paths. In this perspective, the article reviews the road already covered towards a fair appraisal of the political legacy of Cadiz, in the conformation of republican States in America.

  • The Liberal Alliance Work Code and Laborer Federation of Chile (FOCH),
           1920-1922

: This article aims to analyze FOCh political position in presentation of Labor Code project to National Congress, a Liberal Alliance initiative. Between 1920 and 1922, FOCh considered social legislation as a point of support for workers to negotiate their demands in a better conditions with their employers. Trade union center, through its “federated deputies”, attempted to approved and to dispatch the Labor Code bill, participating from inside of Congressional Social Legislation Permanent Committee. However, the opposition and no concurrency of oligarchic deputies within the Commission, blocked the bill discussion. The result was the interruption of legislative debate and resign of federated deputies of the parliamentary body.

  • Impact of the Cold War in the right wing- Argentine Nationalist Political
           Discourse of the sixties (1955-1969)

: Changes in Argentinean right wing-nationalist political discourse of the sixties can only be explained in relation to the international Cold War-context. Thus, some fundamental concepts of Argentine nationalist political tradition were altered by the ups and downs of the international agenda. Because of this, this paper intends to trace the transformations of the nationalist political program, starting with the discursive mutations of the ideas of “Hispanism” and “Revolution”. Hence, this renewed revolutionary program -even when related to inherited ideological elements of previous nationalist generations- was reinterpreted in light of new Cold War-meanings of the concept of Revolution.

  • Pioneers of the Andean ethnohistory in Chile

: This article discusses the contributions of pioneer researchers of Chilean Andean ethnohistory. To meet this goal, first I explain the appearance of this scientific practice in Chile under the general development of the Andean ethnohistory. This provides a framework to examine some early publications that have been claimed as ethnohistorical and whose contributions are the central subject of this article. Finally, I summarize the outstanding features of this investigations and I compare them to the New Ethnohistory that began to develop when the pioneer stage closed.

  • Notes for a genealogy of conservative thought

: One may isolate recurring conceptual nodules in the work of some political historians so as to configure a model for conservative thinking. The notion of ‘genealogy’ exposes the relational nature of political conservatism, and emphasizes both its agonistic character and institutional anchorage. One may then hypothesize a ‘conservative moment’ which would correspond to an institutional refashioning. Such an hypothesis dilutes the protagonism of individual subjects and questions the constituent power of a conservative corpus of ideas, except for the one discernible in constitutional affairs. Instead of importing those ideas into a coup d’etat, a genealogical approach reverses the argument and suggests that the dictatorship illuminates the past, bestowing a unifying articulation and meaning to authors who, in spite of their affinities, exhibit significant differences. This genealogical approach also sidelines notions like ‘corpus of ideas’ or ‘models of thought’ that pertain to the philosophy of mind.

  • A document and antecedents for the study of the FOCH-IWW relationship
           (Iquique, December of 1922)

: This is the integral reproduction of the “Manifesto to the proletariat” that the Local Union of Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) of Iquique published in late 1922, just before the ceremony to commemorating the fifteenth anniversary of the massacre of 1907. The document sets out the control exerted by the Chilean Communist Party (PCCH) over the Chilean Workers Federation (FOCH) as the main reason to the Wobblies for leave the convocatory, originally organized jointly. In the development of the said above argument, other local and international union tensions are revealed.

of Easter Island (June and October 1973)

: Two documents prepared by the Governor of Easter Island (June and October 1973) allow us to approach and question the empowerment and agency of the Rapanui community, pre and post Military Coup, as well as some of the reasons for the positive assessment of the Pinochet Government.
