- Herbal and Biopolymer Components: A Way to Effective Wound Care

Pages: 1 - 6 Abstract: Wound healing is a complicated process wherein the body replaces a damaged tissue by a living tissue and wound dressings are constantly being improved. Varied materials are used to improve the wound healing process. In this regard herbal products and bio polymers have become a focal point of interest. Different herbal components are constantly being explored for their effective wound healing properties like anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, cell adhesion etc. Studies on these herbal components and their properties have increased because of their lower side effects and efficient wound care management. Biopolymers have also emerged as a game changer bio mimicking effect. Wound healing can be accelerated by reducing the healing time and the inappropriateness associated with it. Various herbal and biopolymer components have been observed which can aid in each stage of wound care. - Lithotriptic Potential of Certain Herbs and its Implications in Human

Pages: 7 - 14 Abstract: Man from his prehistoric hunter gatherer stage to modern day evolution—Homo sapiens has been using various herbal remedies for treatment. Considering the lithotriptic property of root system of plants, plants having such property and its further exploitation for treating renal calculi we have explored in the present research. Interestingly one of the shrubs referred widely in Siddha system of medicine—Indigofera aspalathoides grown in arid zones showed very high lithotriptic activity suggesting the evolution of the plants may provide the elementary clue to identify certain plants for treatment of various diseases. Pages: 15 - 19 Abstract: The purpose of this research is to evaluate the chromatographic antioxidative activity and thin-layer analysis of medicinal plant leaves. Its antioxidant activities were calculated by calculating its radical scavenging DPPH and radical scavenging ABTS and were obtained in 35.08 per cent, 32.12 per cent, 17.22 per cent, for this research Bacopa monnieri and Withania somnifera. AGAR diffusion assay was used to carry out antibacterial extract activity, and its antibacterial effect was compared to certain standard antibiotics. The formulation of polyherbal hair oil is always active and has relatively less or no synthetic side effects. On the basis of the findings of this blend of Bacopa monnieri, Tagetes, Withania somnifera leaves were developed as herbal hair oil and checked for the consistency of hair activities for various characteristics including acid content, the saponification value and viscosity. Pages: 20 - 28 Abstract: How much the world has been facing the pandemic caused by COVID-19, which brought great despair around the world' As we know, this virus has had several negative effects, such as social distance, closing companies, schools and distance between families. Especially with great effects on people in the risk group who have chronic diseases like asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, cancer and people who do not have a very good and strong immune system that can fight this terrible virus. 'Immunity' or known as natural defense, which helps to fight external agents that harm our organism. This new coronavirus has symptomatic and asymptomatic characteristics in its victims, due to the presentation of the immune status of its host. In this article, we mention how immunity works against this deadly virus. We also emphasize that it is possible to create a good and healthy immune system, with demonstration of an adequate diet, good physical exercise and meditation. We also present herbs / plants and vitamins that can help the immune system in curative treatment, presenting its side effects, its biodegradation and very easily obtained in nature. Our future scope is to study the molecular structure of phytonutrients or phytochemicals and their interaction with the defense system in the human body. - Reconsidering Traditional Medicinal Plants to Combat COVID-19

Pages: 29 - 43 Abstract: COVID-19 is a deadly disease, caused by a novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that is rapidly spreading across the globe and causing many fatalities. Currently the disease has no treatment available in the form of medicine or vaccine. Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine, being practiced in India for nearly 5000 years and relies majorly on plants for its formulations. These herbal formulations and immunity boosters may show us the path to come up with broad-spectrum antiviral products, which is the need of the hour. In this review, we have selected plants like Phyllanthus sp., Andrographis paniculata, Curcuma longa, Zingiber officinale, Glycyrrhiza glabra, and Withania somnifera with reported antiviral properties. While others like Tinospora cordifolia and Emblica officinalis have immunity boosting properties.
