  • STRATEGIC DESIGN OF AGRICULTURAL FINANCING IN RURAL AREA BASED ON
           COMPETITIVENESS OF BMT

      Abstract: The existence of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) in East Java is expected to be an alternative in capital
      problem, especially on micro / small farm in rural East Java. The role of BMTs can be analyzed based
      on the internal and external conditions of BMT institutions that perform structural functions as financial
      service cooperatives and cultural functions as social institutions in the redistribution of Islamic wealth.
      This study used a mixed case study method with descriptive analysis. Field studies were conducted in
      November 2016-February 2017 in Surabaya, Tulung Agung, Pasuruan, and Gresik in East Java using
      primary and secondary data. Secondary data sourced from BMT financial report during 2013-2015.
      Further analysis of internal and external BMT conditions through Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The
      result of institutional analysis, mention that healthy institution and competitiveness to channel
      agriculture financing both structurally and culturally. The BMT management response to the internal
      and external environment is in the position of being (average). Analysis of EFE (External Factor
      Evaluation) and IFE (Internal Factor Evaluation) is possible for the institution to combine growth
      strategies (grow) and development (build). The recommended of alternative institutional strategy to
      BMT in agricultural financing in rural East Java is market penetration and product development.

  • POLYSACCHARIDE AS GELATIN SUBTITUTE MATERIAL IN HALAL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

      Abstract: Drug delivery system describe the journey of a drug to get the target of action. The material used in drug delivery is very diverse and according to the therapymethod. So far, the use of gelatin in the pharmaceutical is very extensive, such as material in the drug delivery system. Gelatin can be produced from the extraction of animal collagen like from skin, bone and connective tissue. They are usually taken from the products of animal slaughterhouse products such as pigs and cattles. To produce a halal material, starting from the selection of basic materials until production of a material must be appropiate with Islamic rules. Like the selection of basic materials that getting from halal animals, the slaughter process is according to Islamic law and does not contain alcohol or other non-halal ingredients. However, today the use of pig skin as a gelatin base material is preferred because of its abundant availability and ease of processing. But actually pigs are animals that should not be consumed in Islam. The large number of pharmaceutical products derivating from pigs is a problem for a Muslim because it can be non-halal product. Therefore it is necessary to look for alternative gelatin as drug delivery system. One of the alternative material that can be used is a polysaccharide which is a natural polymer with very abundant availability in nature. For example carrageenan which is a polysaccharide extracted from the red seaweed, alginate extracted from brown seaweed, and xanthan gum which is the excretion of Xanthomonas campestris bacteria. The polysaccharide can be used as a halal drug delivery system and has the potential to be developed further so that it has better quality than gelatin.

  • VALIDATION GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY-FID METHOD FOR ANALYSIS OF ETHANOL CONTENT
           IN VINEGAR

      Abstract: Production process of vinegar could be synthesized by chemical or microbiological. In Islam, vinegar must not be consumed if contains ethanol ≥ 1%, because it is categorized into khamr. The maximum concentration of vinegar fermentation is 1,0 %. This research was to analyze the alcohol compund that consist in vinegar. The validation method that used in this study are: selectivity, linearity, range, precision, accuracy, LOD and LOQ. The analysis instrument was gas chromatography Agilent 6890 Series GC System, with a Flame Ionization Detector (FID) and a column HP-5 (5% Phenyl 95% Methyl Siloxane), and optimal conditions were obtained by using temperature of inlet and detector of 250°C whilst the temperature of oven programed initially at 40°C, hold for 5 minutes, and raised to 5°C/min to 200°C. were used in this study. For split ratio was achieved at 50:1 and the injection volume was 1.0µl. The methods were proven selective and demonstrated linearity, precision and accuracy with r = 0.9995; 5,63% and 101,25%, respectively. On the other hand, the methods were proven that the sample contains alcohol. Finally, the result of quantitative ethanol contents analysis in vinegar from Saudi Arabia is 2,28.10-2  % v/v; and vinegar brand “x” from market in Surabaya is 1,17.10-2 v/v.

  • IDENTIFICATION OF ALCOHOL CONTENT IN MEDICINES AT THE PHARMACY THROUGH
           OBSERVATION ON SECONDARY PACKAGING

      Abstract: Demand of halal medicine in the world is an interesting issue to be discussed, considering that there are still many medicines that are intended to contain impermissible  (haram) ingredients. The halal medicine depends on the active ingredients and additives of medicine, including the production process and storage of medicine. Alcoholic medicine are a polemic in the community, especially about halal medicine. This study aims to identify the alcohol content of syrup preparations in Yakersuda Pharmacy of Bangkalan. An observational study was conducted to observe alcohol content on secondary medicine packaging. The results showed that there were 8 (eight) items of medicine which listed the alcohol content in the secondary packaging, namely: Actifed Plus Dry Cough + Colds with alcohol content (9.9%); Actifed Plus Expektoran (6.93%); Benacol DTM (4%); Benacol Syr (4%); OBH Combi Syr Phlegm (2%); Vicks formula 44 (10%); and Woods Exp Syr (6%). The conclusion is alcohol content in medicine at the Yakersuda Pharmacy more then 1%. Medicines that do not include the composition of alcohol cannot be sure the drug is alcohol free.
