Abstract:  Ibn Ebî Dâvûd (d. 316/929) is son’s Ebû Davud who famous scholar andown book’s named Sunen. İbn Ebî Dâvûd’s most important work that bringingto world of knowledge is his studying called Kitâb Al-Masâhif. In this work haddiscussed process of mushaf, ikhtilaf of its pronunciation and punctuation marksetc. topics in the presence of narratives. In the period of Prophet Muhammed(sav) the Quran has not being as a book that we have presently because ofcontinuance of revelation and fail to satisfy stationery. In later periods by forceof circumstances the Qoran had collected in the Mushaf and replicated. Ibn EbîDâvûd put emphasis on his work at form structure of Mushaf with narrationsand historical informations in the first three centuries (hijrî). I think the workoccupies an important place in terms of handling chronological formationand progress’s stages of Mushaf and its projection to envision’s Quran. • Is Mathematics an Axiomatic Ground for the Philosophy of Ikhwān
           al-Ṣafāʾ'

    • Authors: Metin KOÇHAN; Muhammet Fatih KILIÇ
Abstract: This article aims to investigate whether mathematics is consistentlyan axiomatic ground in the philosophical system of Ikhwān al-Ṣafāʾ, a groupof philosophers living in Basra and its environs during 4th/10th century. Thisinvestigation is required by Ikhwān’s claim that mathematics is the basis to allother sciences by depending upon the Pythagorean philosophy. The relationshipbetween mathematics and divinity along with natural sciences in the philosophyof Ikhwān has been subjected in order to inquire this claim. Ikhwān’s teleologicalargument focuses on order and design of the nature, therefore it has a progressivecourse from mathematics to metaphysic. This gives an impression that theyposition mathematics in the centre of their philosophy. However, they ignore0, do not consider 1 as a number and accept an ontological hierarchy amongnumbers when they refer mathematics in several metaphysical issues suchas existence of God, His unity, emanation of beings from Him. Here, Ikhwānreflects a clear Pythagorean influence, instead of taking into account the resultsof mathematical improvement in their age. This obviously points out that theydetach mathematics by imposing metaphysical meanings to it. Consequently, this imposing weakens their claim that mathematics is the basis to all sciences, because it has a progressive course from metaphysics to mathematics.:

  • Mu’tazila’s Faith System; Usûl-i Hamse/Five Principles
           and Background

    • Authors: Veysi ÜNVERDİ
Abstract: Mu’tazila, a founding school of Islamic thought, has frequentlyspoken in every period by its distinctive kalam system, rationalist, libertarianand inquisitive religious discourse and the original language it uses. Mu’tazila, that systematically revealed the belief field for the first time, declared the beliefsystem in five essentials. These principles, known as Usul-i hamse, are almostidentical to Mu’tazila.Usûl-i hamse are the main points that Mu’tazila differentiates from the Ahlas-Sunnah in terms of religious interpretation. These principles are not merelyprinciples of religious justification and content. On the contrary, these principles, which have emerged under a number of socio-political factors, also have anumber of political aspects. Knowing the background of these essentials canlead to better understanding of the form of Mu’tazilite thought. For this reason, our article is based on a thorough analysis of these five essentials. In the study, the religious discourse of Mu’tazila was analyzed along with the content andbackground of the five essentials. Thus, this article is the product of an effort totake a closer look at religious discourse which is not distant to political contextand is woven with reason, philosophy and justice.
