  • Review of Computerized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Based on Culture
           Centered Design for Substance Abuse in Malaysia

      Abstract: Addiction is an activity that includes video games, internet, gambling and substance abuse such as drugs, cigarettes and alcohol. These symptoms had spread among adults, adolescents and children. The phenomenon could be resolved through various approaches in the area physiological therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT plays a vital role, whereby it is a face-to-face therapy between patient and counsellor that treats emotional and physical health conditions. The advancement of information technology has spawned new innovations for therapy using computer known as Computerized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CCBT). The central issue concerning CCBT focuses on the patient’s continuous engagement throughout entire therapy. It is known that continuous engagement in using CCBT is dependable on the patient’s cultural background. Indirectly, it proves the existence of factors that influence patient’s preferences and engagement towards CCBT. Therefore, designing appropriate design interface based on Culture Centred Design (CCD) in order for patient to sustain their engagement level towards CCBT is essential. Furthermore, patients also fail to complete the therapy due to the lack of interest and focus, resulting in disengagement towards CCBT. Various engagement models and theories on developing cultural based interface for CCBT was discussed. Therefore, research aims to review literatures, identify factors that prone to provide continuous engagement CCBT interface which would trigger and guide future research works.

  • Managing Data Security Risk in Model Software As A Service (SAAS)

      Abstract: Software as a Service (SaaS) model has been frequently applied in organisation that used cloud services. SaaS is a new Information Technology that provides dynamic services through Internet to the user. Alhough this technology is beneficial and cost-effective for information technology hosting, it also introduced new threats and risks, particularly in user’s information security. The paper identifies risk in data security of the SaaS Model and their respective mitigation control based on ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard. A qualitative case study was conducted at a public sector agency involving three types of data collection, interviews, observations and document analysis. We identified seven risk of data security for SaaS Model namely data privacy, data integrity, data availability, data control, data encryption, data violation, and data access. The findings can be used to develop SaaS implementation guidelines or policies, particularly in data security.

  • Comparison of Similarity Method to Improve Retrieval Performance for
           Chemical Data

      Abstract: Drug discovery is the process through which new drugs are discovered. One of the most common techniques in drug discovery is similarity searching based on virtual screening that involves comparing the similarity between molecule structures in chemical database using established similarity methods. The objective of this study is to identify the similarity of the structure in chemical dataset using Mean Pairwise Similarity (MPS) calculation and to determine the best coefficient to be used in similarity searching which involves of molecular descriptor ECFP2 fingerprint and three types of similarity coefficient which are Tanimoto, Soergel and Euclidean. From the results, it was deduced that Tanimoto and Soergel coefficients has a better performance than Euclidean coefficient. For future work, different combinations of fingerprints such as Daylight, BCI, Unity MDL and similarity coefficient can be studied further.

  • Robust Gender Identification using EMD-Based Cepstral Features

      Abstract: Automatic gender identification is one of the appealing fields of research with numerous practical applications. However, this issue has not gained its deserved attention, in particular in the presence of environmental noises. In this paper, using the empirical mode decomposition (EMD), some new and improved mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) features are developed to address this problem. In the proposed approach, EMD is employed as a filter bank to decompose the speech signal into its frequency bands. Furthermore, another variant is also developed in which the complete ensemble EMD (CEEMD) supersedes the EMD. Moreover, support vector machine (SVM) with radial basis function (RBF) kernel is employed for classification. Performance of these methods is examined for gender identification, in noise-free environments as well as in the presence of various Gaussian and non-Gaussian noises. Simulation results show that, although with fewer features used, utilizing the improved EMD-based cepstral features in noiseless situations leads to the same accuracy as that of the original MFCCs. However, in noisy environments the proposed methods outperform the conventional way of extracting the MFCCs.

  • Thresholding And Quantization Algorithms for Image Compression Techniques:
           A Review

      Abstract: With increasing demand on digital images, there is a need to compress the image to entertain the limited bandwidth and storage capacity. Recently, there is a growing interest among researchers focusing on compression of various types of images and data. Amongst various compression algorithms, transform-based compression is one of the promising algorithms. Despite the technological advances in transmission and storage, the demands placed on the bandwidth of communication and storage capacities by far outstrips its availability. This paper presents a review of image compression principle, compression techniques and various thresholding algorithms (pre-processing algorithms) and quantization algorithm (post-processing algorithms). This paper intends to give an overview to the relevant parties to choose the suitable image compression algorithms to suit with the need.

  • Performance Measurement of Rice Mills Based on Supply Chain Operation
           Reference Model

      Abstract: The supply chain management (SCM) has been proven as a manufacturing innovation which can improve the current competition among companies. SCM encompasses all activities, raw materials, in process work inventory, and all ready goods from the start to an end use. SCM is frequently used in various manufacturing and service industries such as rice expenditure industry, as it provides various benefits to companies, especially in term of optimizing the period and space. Rice refinery Sumber Rezeki is a refinery operating in Bireuen District, Aceh, Indonesia. This refinery often suffers a problem in rice billing process which then lead them in shortage of supply as well as uncertain amount of rice stock. A measurement for achievement guidance needs to be done in a purpose to determine the virtue factor that should be well added. Therefore, this study aims to identify the virtue factor of chain based supply chain operation reference (SCOR). The SCOR model encompasses design factors, source factors, manufacturing factors, delivery factors, and reversion factors. The virtue of these factors are known through analytical hierarchy process (AHP). The data used were obtained from questionnaires that had been circulated to refinery workers which then identified and determined to be subcriteria by the experts who are well-experienced in rice refining processes. The assessment may indicate that source factors (0.468 or 46.8%) is a major factor that needs to be considered for the improvement in the process of managing the refinery chains. Whereas another subcriteria of source factors that need to be improved is the worker achievement (0.633 or 63.3%).

  • Student Perception on the use of Tablet Computer in Academic Library

      Abstract: The speed of technology adaptations has made it necessary to provide the latest tools to facilitate students in academic libraries. However, the available library services are not used effectively and efficiently by the students. Unattractive library services have been identified as the problems that make the library incompetent in serving and delivering successful library services to the students. This paper attempted to explore the perception of undergraduate students regarding possible use of tablet computer for library services in the academic library. Quantitative approach is adopted with the structured questionnaire has been distributed to 155 undergraduate students. The result shows that the acceptance of a tablet computer by the students is satisfactory and has a good perception to enhance library services. Many students have responded that the tablet computer is an interactive and innovative way to use library services. This paper makes a significant contribution to the academic library services by clarifying the usefulness of tablet computer and the importance of having ICT application for enhancing library services in Malaysia. This paper provides evidence on the use of ICT application by the undergraduate students in retrieving information and their attitudes toward applying ICT application in the academic library.

  • An Implementation Study of DMM PMIPV6 Protocol on Dual-Stack Network

      Abstract: Mobility management nowadays plays a ­critical role in delivering a seamless and quality service to millions of users worldwide and it is transparent from the user's involvement. The current state of implementation and the introduction of transition is not focused on the implementation of mobility scenario communications protocol IPv4 over IPv6 protocol-based networks. The growing trend toward mobile access drives the development of mobility management in a dual-stack network environment. Implementation of IP mobility allows mobile users to roam from one network to another without causing significant network interruption. However, the existing implementation of dual-stack mobility does not provide an efficient platform for handling handover scenarios that leads to sub-optimal mobility experience. This study presents the implementation of the Distributed Mobility Management Proxy Mobile IPv6 (DMM PMIPv6) protocol on a dual-stack platform. This protocol was developed based on the concept of network in which the pointer is placed near the user's mobility or mobile node. The distributed control plane and the data infrastructure between entities are located on the edge of the access network which basically reduce the burden on the signalling process thus improving the handover performance. Therefore this study was initiated on existing protocol architecture for the implementation of mobility in the dual-stack scenario. This study proposes a dual-stack implementation of mobility based on DMM PMIPv6 protocol through IPv4 Home Address Mobility Support scenario that allows the mobile node capable of dual-stack and IPv4-based to communicate in IPv6-based network, in order to provide a better performance in terms of handover compared to the previous research implementations. DMM PMIPv6 Dual-Stack protocol testbed was implemented to investigate the handover performance. The results show that the mechanism provides better handover performance compared to the previous studies using PMIPv6 Dual-Stack implementation, thus able to provide a seamless connection to the user.

  • Framework for the Implementation of E-Government System Based on Cloud
           Computing for Malaysian Public Sector

      Abstract: The implementation of e-government system requires the use of new technologies, methods and effective approaches. However, the development and maintenance of e-government system also requires a large allocation, not only related to the cost of hardware and software but also increase system cost, training, infrastructure needs and expansion of e-government system. In addition, the governance aspects of the implementation of e-Government in adapting the use of new technologies is given less attention. At the same time, cloud computing technology offers comprehensive utilization of resources through the Internet. Preliminary analysis shows that the concept of cloud computing is important for each government to facilitate the work, increase productivity and lead to cost savings. Therefore, this research aims to analyze and identify the key factors that contribute to the successful implementation of e-government system based on cloud computing. Literature reviews of previous studies have been conducted to obtain theoretical data, and interview techniques were used to obtain empirical data and there were seven related officers involved. In order to validate the proposed framework, expert review analysis was used. The framework combines three main factors; environment, process and product. Attributes in environment factors consist of people, law, organization and infrastructure which comprised of three deployment model of cloud computing; Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). Meanwhile, each process factor plays an important role and it consists of four stages; Plan, Do, Check and Act (PDCA) cycle to ensure the implementation of the system is continuously and thus producing a quality system. This framework can indirectly serve as a guide to government agencies as an action plan for implementing the e-government system based on cloud computing.

  • To interact or not to interact: Why students print interactive
           Instructional Multimedia' Problem of Reading or Reviewing'

      Abstract: Interactive digital Learning objects is a core of eLearning systems. Although multimedia learning theory support learning via multimedia. Surprisingly, observations imply that a significant number of students change interactive learning objects to static printed text. The aim of this study is to find what factor(s) influence changing interactive learning objects to print. To achieve the goal, a survey conducted in Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) E-Learning Centre. Qualitative content analysis revealed “reviewing problem” as a main theme. To find key factors related to the problem, 169 online learners voluntary answered an online questionnaire. To analyse quantitative data Educational Data Mining (EDM) were used. Finding from the decision tree and rule induction that conducted by WEKA, revealed the “problem of reviewing” is the most important factor that interpret student behaviour in printing interactive digital learning objects.
