  • AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIORS OF VEHICLE DRIVERS

    • Authors: Abdullah SARMAN ; Emine SARMAN
Abstract: Motor vehicle accidents are an increasingly important public health problem all over the world. The World Health Organization reports motor vehicle accidents as a forgotten epidemic in third world countries and recommends that various measures be taken. In the United States of America, an average of 112 people dies in motor vehicle accidents per day, or an individual dies every 13 minutes. The situation in our country is no different. There were 428.311 traffic accidents and 6.675 citizens lost their lives only in 2018. Although there are various potential causes of traffic accidents, the leading cause is aggressive driving behavior. Aggressive driving is considered a serious problem. Aggressive driving behaviors that cause fatal accidents can be listed as not giving priority to pass, careless-irregular driving, not following signs and making wrong turns. It is stated that such behavior can be dangerous in terms of collision safety, especially for young people because they are inexperienced in driving and do not know how to react to reduce the severity of injury as an accident develops. Research on aggressive driving behavior has shown that there are a number of psychological, personality and situational factors that trigger aggressive driving behavior. Studies have found that there is a significant relationship between aggressive driving behaviors and severity of injuries in accidents. In this review, it was aimed to investigate aggressive driving behaviors in all dimensions, to determine the underlying causes of aggressive driving behavior in traffic and what to do in its solution. As a result of this literature review we think that aggressive driving behavior should be tackled in all dimensions. We think that developing intervention strategies aimed at reducing aggressive driving behavior and violence levels will contribute to the solution.

  • REVIEW OF EARLY STAGE EFFECTS OF CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 (COVID-19) IN
           PEDIATRIC PATIENTS

    • Authors: Abdullah SARMAN ; Suat TUNCAY , Emine SARMAN
Abstract: Objective: The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) first appeared in December 2019. This virus has affected hundreds of thousands of people so far, causing deaths in tens of thousands. It is known that most of the studies are related to adults. Data on the nature of symptoms and the general process of the disease in children were not sufficient. Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out to identify papers on COVID-19, which is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), using PubMed, ScienceDirect databases between 1 January-27 March 2020. The review was searched for relevant terms related to "SARS-CoV-2", "coronavirus", "COVID-19", "child".Results: In the study, 45 scientific articles, COVID-19 prevention plan and guideline were determined. The results of the investigation showed that COVID-19 cases detected in children constitute 1-5% of all cases, child patients had a mild disease process than adults and deaths were rare. It was determined that children admitted to the hospital with high fever and respiratory diseases similar to adults. It has been observed that hemodynamic parameters can be stabilized with oxygen, inhalation and nutritional support for treatment in children, thereby protecting the fluid-electrolyte and acid-base balance of the body and thereby correcting inflammatory reactions. Conclusion: Further studies are needed to explain why children infected with COVID-19 have a milder disease process than adult patients.

  • EVALUATION OF SLEEP QUALITY, WORK STRESS AND NUTRITIONAL BEHAVIOR OF
           AMBULANCE SERVICE EMPLOYEES

    • Authors: Ramazan GÜNEŞER ; Ezgi ATALAY
Abstract: Objective: The aim of this study; It is the determination of sleep quality, work stress level and nutritional behavior of the staff working in shifts.Material and Methods: The study was carried out on 209 volunteers working in Bolu Provincial Ambulance Service. The data were collected through the socio-demorgraphic data form, Pittsburgh sleep quality index, Work stress scale and Three-factor nutrition questionnaire. Results: The mean sleep quality score was 7.00 ± 3.70 and 61.7% (n = 129) of the employees had poor quality sleep. The mean work stress score was 29.01 ± 5.27. While there were no employees with low stress levels, 62.2% (n = 130) of the employees were stressed and 37.8% (n = 79) had high stress levels. Work stress levels of employees with low sleep quality were significantly higher (p = 0.003). Uncontrolled eating behavior (p = 0.008), emotional eating behavior (p = 0.041) and hunger sensitivity levels (p = 0.005) of employees with low-quality sleep were significantly higher than those with good sleep quality. In addition, employees with high work stress levels had higher emotional eating behavior scores (p = 0.032).Conclusion: From our study, it is understood that the vast majority of ambulance service employees have poor sleep quality and high levels of work stress. Both low sleep quality and high work stress negatively affect nutritional behavior of employees.

  • THERAPEUTIC COMMUNICATION AND PLAY WITH CHILD IN PRE-HOSPITAL CARE

    • Authors: Hakan AVAN
Abstract: Play is one of the easiest and most effective way to communicate with the child. It is a psychological, sometimes physiological and sociological phenomenon for the child, that helps learning which cannot be learned from his own experience. The play called “biological work” in the literature may be interrupted due to the search for biological health. However, illness or injury can cause adverse emotions and stress in children, making it difficult to adapt to treatment in pre-hospital care. At this point, the concept of therapeutic play is mentioned. Healthcare personnel should use the therapeutic game as an effective method in pre-hospital care to ensure that the sick child expresses his feelings and thoughts, to conduct a physical examination and to collect data. In order to increase the quality of pre-hospital care, it is important for healthcare professionals to recognize the game in all its aspects and use it in activities related to children. In this study, it is aimed to explain the concepts of therapeutic communication and therapeutic play according to the developmental characteristics of the children in order to provide pre-hospital health service effectively in pediatric cases.

  • DETERMINATION OF CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION INFORMATION STATUS OF
PRE-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY HEALTH SERVICES PERSONNEL- EXAMPLE OF GAZIANTEP
           PROVINCE

    • Authors: Adile NEŞE ; Aynur TETİK
Abstract: Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the knowledge status of medical personnel engaged in pre-hospital emergency health services related to cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the latest 2015 European Resuscitation Council and AHA guidelines.Material and Method: In the research, medical personnel working in 112 emergency health services in Gaziantep province were determined as the universe. The data were collected using a questionnaire which questioned the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants and their knowledge of current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The data were analyzed using numbers, percentage distribution and the chi-square test. Results: The variables that responded most correctly to the participants were 84.4% (n = 228), “the first condition to be evaluated in the patient is the state of consciousness”, 94.1% (n = 254) and “pulse evaluation should be made from the carotid artery” and 89.6% (n = 242), "the rate of chest settling should be 5-6 cm during heart massage in adults". The highest false response rate is 75.6% (n = 204), “the rate of chest collapse in infants is 1-3 cm” and 70.0% (n = 189), “the rate of chest collapse in children is 3-5 cm”. A statistically significant relationship was found between the professional experience of the participants and following and applying current guidelines on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (p< 0.05).Conclusion: Although the knowledge status of the pre-hospital emergency medical personnel about cardiopulmonary resuscitation is high, it is observed that there are deficiencies especially regarding pediatric and infant patients. It is useful to repeat the current education programs covering all age groups in order to remember the knowledge and skills and eliminate the deficiencies.

  • CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE AND COVID-19: WHAT HAS CHANGED'

    • Authors: Özgür KARCIOĞLU ; Mandana HOSSEINZADEH , Selman YENİOCAK , Bilgen ÖZKAYA , Suleyman ALPAR , Hüseyin METİN
Abstract: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has long been the leading cause of global morbidity and mortality. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been the focus of attention all over the world since the end of 2019, this issue has gained a different importance. Presence of CVD leads to more severe COVID-19 and an increased probability of mortality. In addition, both CVD and COVID-19 pave the way to myocardial injury which also boosts the morbidity and death toll. Another point to ponder is possible deprivation of usual healthcare received by cardiac patients (CVD and others) because of the shifted emphasis of hospital and prehospital medical services to COVID-19. As the public can foresee that the pandemics would not disappear rapidly soon, healthcare organization faces a challenge to be redesigned radically. The objective of this article is to analyze CVD, myocardial injury and other cardiac diseases resulting from COVID-19 itself, together with the impact of the pandemics on the usual healthcare of the cardiac patients.
