  • EDUARDO L. HOLMBERG AND THE RENEWAL OF THE NOVEL BY FANTASY

: The Argentine scientist and writer Eduardo Ladislao Holmberg (1852 1937) is a pioneer in different narrative genres, particularly fantastic stories, police stories, scientific fantasy and science fiction. This article analyzes how he renews the poetics of the novel in a process ending with La bolsa de huesos (1896). His novelty lies in enhancing the creative function of fantasy in structuring novel discourse, thus maximizing fiction as a substantive element of the novel. This contrasts with romantic and naturalistic tendencies which prioritized what was morally credible (the novel as a mirror of society).

  • TADEYS BY OSVALDO LAMBORGHINI: A CONSTRUCTION OF A POETICS THAT
           DESTABILIZES THE HETERONORMATIVE PATRIARCHY

: This study analyzes the narrative strategies that form a poetics that des tabilizes the heteronormative patriarchy of the posthumous novel Tadeys (1983) by Osvaldo Lamborghini. The strategies disassemble the patriarchal conception of the body, as it is built as a flow of urges where subjectivities are installed -artifi cial prosthesis- designed by La Comarca State. One of the narrative strategies is the making of male characters motivated by primary drives in a patriarchal country. In this sense, the patriarchal order sets as a cynical mask always transgressed by the homoerotic desire of the ambivalent characters. The second narrative strategy is the deconstruction of the female gender with the incorporation of the prison La Roca, symbolic space where the male criminal body is transformed into a docile woman ready to get married. In this prison, the female gender represents and reproduces as performance, it lacks of an essence a priori, as it is the product of the institutions that create it, regulate it and naturalize it.

  • COMMUNICATING VESSELS OF NEOBARROCO: ABOUT THE SCENES AND SENSES IN COMMON
IN THE WORKS OF NÉSTOR PERLONGHER AND PEDRO LEMEBEL

: This article presents a discussion about the structural performance of the transtextuality in the baroque literature and the intense transtextual dialogue noticed between the essay "They kill a fag" and the chronic "The poppies also have thorns". For this purpose we will evaluate the intertextual conceptualization developed by wri ters and intellectuals linked to the neobarroco and the hypertext procedures upon which is evident the decisive influence by the work of the Argentinean poet on the Chilean writer.

  • NARRATING FEAR: PRESENTATION OF THE CITY OF QUITO IN THREE ECUADORIAN
           NOVELS IN THE LAST YEARS

: In the present essay it is proposed to analyze how fear is built in the Quito city represented in the works Edén y Eva (2013) de Huilo Ruales; Los años perdidos (2013) de Juan Pablo Castro; y Ecuatox® (2013) de Santiago Páez, under the as sumption that "it's not the threat that creates fear, but fear which creates the threat" (Lotman). In other words, to analyze the secret relationship that links the construc tion of fear in the contemporary city of Quito, through the establishment of a story machine that articulates fear-generating devices, and how it controls individual and collective bodies. However, we also have to analyze the way authors stretch this "re ality" in their works, through the creation/fiction of spaces, stories, and characters (lunatics, clowns, marginalized people, poets, prostitutes,...) who live in a city that resist the monological vision of power. Laughter, irony, memory, and science fiction are devices that work as counter-power's agents of change. These practices of resis tance search for the "missing city," a dialogic, heterogeneous, multiple, and free one.

  • LITERARY FIELD'S RESPONSES IN THE RECENT CHILEAN NARRATIVE. TRACING THE
           TEXT AND EXHORTING THE FIELD

: This paper explain the literary posture of a sample of storytellers, born sin ce the late 70s onwards, recently appeared in the Chilean literary field. The concept, coined by Jerome Meizoz (La Fabrique dels singularités, 2007), refers to the impost of formal strategies about writers present themselves to the public. Thinking in terms of literary postures involves the individual's ability to renegotiate the status and roles assigned. Their last goal will be to manage a certain position within the field, accor ding to a codes of practice's sphere. The postures will appear directly or allegorical reproduced in the works. The genre that allows to turn off this effort from epitextual (interviews, reviews, conferences) to purely textual phenomenons is the autoficcional. Definitely, the authors establish a dialogue with the field's agents through this postures: the publishing market, the critics and the world system. Within a space of struggle of forces, the complaint against a narrow and endogamic field reverberate like an echo into a new novelistic that, for a while, seems more concerned in building up writers than the simple act of writing.

  • HOW TO SAY NO' DEATH IN THE POETRY OF FLORIDOR PÉREZ

: This article studies the possible meanings that arise from the relationships the poet establishes with the death of others and with immanence of his own death. Grief, memory and hospitality are some of the distinguishing features that stand out in a writing that resists death and intensifies life.

  • CALCULATION AND EMOTIONS IN PEDRO PÁRAMO

: While literary texts may be regarded as possible, autonomous and self-sufficient worlds, they are somehow anchored into reality and life itself that allow us both to clarify subjective issues and fulfill emotional deficits. In a similar way, fictional characters help us to understand how other people's minds work as well as our own life experiences and even our own acts and decisions. This paper stands that calcula tions and emotions are mixed up differently in each person, each situation and each social interaction. Juan Rulfo's novel Pedro Páramo gives us a wide variety of exam ples showing that kind of mixture, notoriously seen in the characters that dare to ba lance their emotions regarding their specific economic, political and social conditions. Pedro Páramo could be seen as a paradigm of how destructive might be emotions like love, illusion, grief, fear, frustration, ambition, embedded in complex systems of ha bits and beliefs like the ones that ruled in Mexico's mid-20th Century. Not to mention that emotions are undoubtedly linked to propositional attitudes, ideas, prejudices, arguments and world's visions.

  • "FEDERICO GARCÍA LORCA, A DRAMATIC POET". ABOUT AN UNPUBLISHED TEXT
           BY MANUEL ALTOLAGUIRRE

: Recently, several materials written by international antifascist authors fa llen into oblivion have been found in the historical archives of the Gorky Literature Institute of International Academy of Sciences in Moscow. : Recently, several materials written by international antifascist authors fa llen into oblivion have been found in the historical archives of the Gorky Literature Institute of International Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Among them there was a short essay written by Manuel Altolaguirre on Lorca's play-writing, which marks one of the first written evidences in the reception of Lorca ever. "Federico García Lorca, a dramatic poet" (1937) is therefore an invaluable document for the understanding of the serious turn in Spanish literature in the emergency context brought by the Spanish Civil War, and the uses of Lorca's play-writing in this respect.
