  • Validación de una Escala sobre Work Engagement. Perfiles asociados a alta

: The aim of this paper was to validate a scale to assess work engagement: a measure of a psychological aspect of the role that includes the attention, absorption and energy that the individual invests in his/her work tasks. Confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency estimation, and evidences of convergent and discriminant validity indicated that the Argentine Work Engagement Scale is a valid and reliable measure to be used in Argentinean population. Additionally, differences in work engagement levels were studied regarding individual and organizational variables. Higher levels of work engagement were found in younger individuals and in those who were in charge of personal. Lastly, some engagement profiles were found to be associated to higher performance and job satisfaction

This article discusses the behaviors of street children attending traffic lights in the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The data collection consisted of 12 simple observations, each lasting 2 hours, aiming to collect information about the behavior of children at traffic lights. For material analysis, the Bardin Content Analysis strategy was used. From the results, the data were contrasted with theories that present analyzes about child development and social vulnerability. It is noticed that, since intelligence is something that is also built, socially and economically, street children are at a disadvantage. Social vulnerability, coupled with an exclusion that is also affective, produces in children very specific ways of living linked to strategies for survival on the street

    • Abstract: : Objective: To identify the level of the relationship between depression and cognitive functions of early-stage Alzheimer’s patient. Theoretical framework: Depression is a risk factor for dementia and consequently Alzheimer’s disease (AD), due to loss of memory, which tends to be associated with difficulties in orientation, learning, and recognition. Methodology: A total of 142 older adults participated in this study. Participants were divided into two groups, with and without a clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and depression. Participants were evaluated through the application of the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) and the Folstein Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE). Results: We found statistically significant effects between cognition and depression in older adults with early-stage AD. Conclusions: We conclude that there is a high possibility of cognitive changes of patients with Alzheimer’s, when their disease is associated with depression. Furthermore, the results suggest cognition is responsible for the behavioral alterations of the patient, as a consequence of worsening depressionResumen: Objetivo: Identificar el nivel de relación entre la depresión y las funciones cognitivas del enfermo de Alzheimer en fase inicial.

El artículo concluye con algunas sugerencias para futuros estudios sobre la temática : Work passion is defined as a persistent state of desire based on both cognitive and affective appraisals of one´s job. According to Vallerand´s dualistic model there are two types of passion called as harmonious passion and obsessive passion. Given its novelty in the field of organizational psychology, the aim of the present study is to provide a systematic literature review of the work passion construct. Specialized bases were examined obtaining 61 scientific publications corresponding to the period 2003-2017. The analysis of the literature shows that both types of passion are associated with dissimilar results, as well as different contextual and dispositional antecedents. To date, there is only one scale available to measure the construct, which has been adapted to diverse cultural contexts. The article concludes with some suggestions for future research on the subject

This study aimed to understand the transition from conjugality to late coparenting in dual career-couples. Five heterosexual couples in which women got pregnant after aging 35 years old, displaying professional activities, and having a firstborn child aged up to one year old participated in the study. Exclusion criterion was participants who have undergone any type of fertilization treatment. Instruments were a sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The results point out changes in marital and coparenting relations. Fathers demonstrated to be collaborative throughout gestation period and mainly after child’s birth, splitting care tasks with their wives, as well as home tasks, which were reflected in high levels of coparenting agreements articulated with good marital quality. Although the investigated couples demonstrated high workloads, the majority of them seemed satisfied about their jobs due to employment flexibility, thus parents were able to conciliate their career with parenting

The objective of the present research was to obtain evidences of validity and reliability of the scale of locus of financial control, obtaining differences in structural variables. The study involved 300 university students, 110 men and 190 women, between 18 and 59 years old (M = 21.74; SD = 6.7) from the Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City. The locus of control was assessed with items that reflect that obtaining money is contingent on its actions. The results show the psychometric properties of an instrument that incorporates three factors related to the locus of control: internal, affective and external. Additionally, the findings suggest that university students have a higher level of internal and affiliative financial locus of control, differentiated by sex, type of career and level of work efficiency.            muestra de adultos mayores argentinos

The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between psychophysiological disorders and psychological well-being during retirement in a group of Argentinian older adults. An ex post facto simple retrospective design was used. 150 older adults (self-sufficient, mixed-gender, of middle socioeconomic status, with stable and formal employment prior to retirement) answered a Socio-Demographic and Retirement Profile Background Questionnaire, a Health Status Questionnaire and the Psychological General Well-Being Index. The results show greater psychological well-being amongst those who presented less psychophysiological disorders related to retirement. These findings coincide with previous research and highlight the importance of studies on psychological well-being as a central aspect in older adult quality of life

    • Abstract: : Health Continuum (MHC-SF) of Keyes (2009) in the Ecuadorian context. The scale was applied to two samples, one of 100 people that worked as a pilot and another of 550 people resident in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador, who also were applied an adaptation of the PERMA Profile of Butler and Kern (2016) to verify the convergent and discriminant validity. It was observed that the application in this population presents adequate levels of adjustment and high internal consistency (α=.91) and an adequate general adjustment of the structure of three factors: psychological well-being, social welfare and emotional well-being proposed by the author whose main fit values are RMSEA= .045, CFI= .996, χ2(52)= 109.048 (p= .000), GFI= .997 y TLI= 0.993. The bifactor model presents good values as well: RMSEA= .042, CFI= .996, χ2(52) = 103.040 (p= .000), GFI= .997, TLI= 0.993. We conclude that the Spanish version of MHC-SF (Keyes, 2009) and the bifactor model are appropriate tools to measure mental health in the Ecuadorian contextResumen: El presente estudio tiene como objetivo estudiar la estructura factorial, fiabilidad y validez del Contínuum de Salud Mental (MHC-SF) de Keyes (2009) en el contexto ecuatoriano.

The first aim of this study is to describe the attitudes of preschool and elementary school teachers from a private school in Montevideo towards inclusive education. Attitude is defined as a set of perceptions, beliefs, positive and negative feelings, and ways of reacting to an educational process in which the main focus is for all learners to achieve learning outcomes. The second aim is to analyze whether these attitudes depend on a teacher’s position, academic background, contact with people with disabilities, educational stage, and years of professional experience. The study had a cross-sectional, descriptive design and utilized the Inclusive Education Opinion Scale instrument. Attitudes were assessed using a 23-item instrument with five response levels on a Likert-type Attitude Scale. The study worked with a non-probability sample of 44 English and Spanish teachers. The results demonstrated positive attitudes towards the foundations of inclusive education and towards inclusive practices. Additionally, the results reflect that Spanish language teachers have more positive attitudes towards the foundations of inclusive education compared to their English language colleagues. Furthermore, more experienced teachers were found to have more positive attitudes towards inclusive measures and practices. No statistically significant differences were found between teachers’ attitudes and the educational stage taught
