[The last rupture: Bachelard's epistemological silence after 1953]

    • Authors: Gustavo Bertoche Guimarães
      Pages: 9 - 27
[In this paper, we address the problem of Gaston Bachelard’s (1884-1962) “epistemological silence” after 1953. Bachelard was a prolific writer: between 1927 and 1953, he completed 13 books on epistemology ‒ about one book every 14 months. However, at one point he stopped publishing works on the subject, although he continued to write about the poetic imagination. Michel Vadée and Olival Freire note the problem and point out possible paths, but leave their solution open. More specifically, Freire suggests that the issue may be related to an important position taken by Louis de Broglie, who, in 1952, breaks with the Copenhagen interpretation (adopted by Bachelard), proposing a theory that admits a non-probabilistic solution for Quantum theory. This turnaround by the most important French physicist may have shaken Bachelard's spirit. We believe we have found, in an article by Bachelard published in 1957, elements that allow us to resolve the issue.]

  • Enativismo radical: exposição, desafios e perspectivas [Radical
           enactivism: exposition, challenges and prospects]

    • Authors: Giovanni Rolla
      Pages: 29 - 57
[Enactivism is first presented as the view that action is constitutive of cognition and it is historically situated as arising from Gibson’s ecological psychology. Radical enactivism (according to which not all cognition is representational) is then differentiated from moderate enactivism (according to which cognition involves action-oriented representations). An argument for choosing the former is then presented. Radical enactivism is defended from the objection that the role played by action in cognition is merely causal. Two challenges for the future of radical enactivism are advanced: how can representational states emerge and which conception of rationality fits this theoretical framework.]

si em Michel Foucault [Between autonomy and heteronomy: for a critical
conception of care of the self in Michel Foucault]

    • Authors: Fernando Gimbo
      Pages: 59 - 83
[This article aims to show how the idea of “care of the self" must be understood from the tension of a double movement: on the one hand, the affirmation of an auto-affection as a condition to a process of individuation. On the other hand, the need to incorporate such ipseity to the broader framework of genealogical research focused on the subjugation and domination practices. Thus, my goal is to suggest how the initial problem that runs through Foucault’s later works is the need to rethink the conditions of subjectivity genesis. Therefore, the article is divided into two parts: firstly, I recover Foucault’s self-criticism performed at the end of the 70s, when he introduces in his analysis the concept of governmentality. Secondly, I strategically analyze the theme of confession (l'aveu) as an example of recognizing this auto-affectivity dimension of subjectivity even within power relations. Finally, I point out certain possible consequences of such exposure on the theme of ethics in Foucault's thought.]

Camus ["Save the bodies", "connect revolts": for a notion of Law in Camus]

    • Authors: Amsterdan Duarte, Márcio Pereira
      Pages: 85 - 118
[Using, mainly, the notions of Absurd, Rebellion and Limit, this work aims to build a notion of Law based on the thought of Albert Camus. In order to do so, the first step is to, along with Camus, identify and criticize a kind of Law that, still today, very influential, mimics the Absurd in a way to intensify the individual’s exile in the world. Next, we build a notion of Law that, maintaining an intense connection with the ideas of Rebellion and Limit, represents, simultaneously, a radical affirmation of human life and an expression of the collective agency of Rebellion.]

  • Alexandre de Afrodísia pensa Aristóteles: o caso do intelecto produtivo
[Alexander of Aphrodisias thinks Aristotle: the case of the productive
           intellect]

    • Authors: Allan Neves
      Pages: 119 - 150
[The title of “commentator” ascribed to Alexander of Aphrodisias (c. 200 AD) by posterior philosophers reveals his important contribution to the elucidation of Aristotle’s thought. This title, however, conceals the fact that, in the attempt to fulfill the insufficiencies and emergent problems of the Aristotelian text, Alexander himself developed by proper arguments a consistent philosophical doctrine, which in some aspects does not have any resonance in the first master and that also arises new issues. In this article, I aim to show how this is the case in noetics, availing the notion of productive intellect (noûs poiêtikós), itself absent in Aristotle.]

conceitos de razão e causalidade [An application of the logical hexagon:
a systematic organization of the concepts of reason and causality]

    • Authors: Guilherme de Freitas Kubiszeski
      Pages: 151 - 164
[This paper aims to show an application of the logical hexagon to the metaphysical concepts of reason and causality. After a brief presentation of Blanché’s approach, we proceed to build the geometrical structures. First, we show two triads – logical reason, chance, cause; reason, non-cause, non sequitur. Then we present the logical hexagon as a dyad built out of the first two structures. We conclude that the logical hexagon is able to organize the concepts of reason and causality in a systematic way.]
