  • Additions to the vascular flora of central Italy. Second contribution.

      Abstract: In this paper, new floristic records for 55 taxa for central Italy are reported. In particular, 39 taxa are native and 16 aliens, 9 are new or confirmed to Abruzzo, 1 to Marche, 21 to Molise, 16 to Umbria, 1 is excluded from the flora of Abruzzo, 1 from Molise and 1 from Lazio. Furthermore, new distribution data for 2 rare species in Abruzzo and Molise are reported.

  • Taxonomic revision of Leiosoma cribrum species group (Coleoptera:
           Curculionidae: Molytinae)

      Abstract: The species of the genus Leiosoma Stephens, 1829 close to Leiosoma cribrum (Gyllenhal, 1834) are reviewed. The Leiosoma cribrum species group is proposed. Leiosoma cribrum (Gyllenhal, 1834) and Leiosoma concinnum Boheman, 1842 are redescribed; lectotypes are designated for both species. Neotypes are designated for Liosoma carpathicum Brancsik, 1899 and Liosoma isabellae Tschapeck, 1874. Four new species are described: Leiosoma diottii n.sp. (southern Italy), Leiosoma komovicum n.sp. (Montenegro), Leiosoma kostali n.sp. and Leiosoma senex n.sp. (Romania). A key to the species of the group is provided. Observations on the ecology and remarks for each species are reported. The species of the Leiosoma cribrum group are mostly spread over high-mountain ecosystems.

  • Amazighopsidae, a new family of decapod macruran astacideans from the late
           Cretaceous (Cenomanian-Turonian) of Gara Sbaa, Southeastern Morocco

      Abstract: We investigate a new decapod macruran discovered in deposits identified at the top of Gara Sbaa slope, located in SE Morocco, along the “Hamada des Kem Kem”, close to the Algerian border. These fossiliferous levels are known in the literature as part of the Late Cretaceous Kem Kem beds. We report the new family Amazighopsidae, created to accommodate Amazighopsis cretacica n. gen., n. sp. Indeed, some morphological characters, such as a short rostrum with the serrate upper margin, cervical and antennal grooves not forming the characteristic W-shaped pattern, the telson without diaeresis, lateral margins of the telson with one movable median spine and two movable distal spines, and the uropodal exopod without diaeresis, are so peculiar and unique to justify the erection of the new family tentatively ascribed to the infraorder Astacidea.

  • [Noteridae, Dytiscidae (Coleoptera) of Gabon (11th part). Birougou Monts
           National Park (mission 2016)]

      Abstract: [Article in French]This work concerns the Coleoptera Hydradephaga collected in several sites of the Birougou Monts National Park (Republic of Gabon), in which altogether 67 species are listed (4 Noteridae and 63 Dytiscidae). The authors describe 6 new species (1 Noteridae and 5 Dytiscidae): Canthydrus lepidus (notula group) distinguishable from other african species for elytral drawing and for shape of penis; Hyphydrus simulans (opaculus group) close to H. congoanus Biström, 1982 and H. ntsa Bilardo & Rocchi, 2008, distinguishable for shape of penis; Liodessus contractipenis distinguishable for shape of penis clearly different from all other species know for Africa; Copelatus apicinotatus (erichsonii group, atrosulcatus subgroup) close to bottegoi Régimbart, 1895 and distinguishable chiefly for shape of penis; Copelatus birougouensis (haemorrhoidalis, group, ferruginicollis subgroup, sensu Guignot, 1961 = hydroporoides group, sensu Nilsson & Hájek, 2017) with penis different that one other all african species know of group; Hydaticus (Prodaticus) lepemangoyei (leander group, leander subgroup) close to H. arcuatus Régimbart, 1895 and H. matruelis Clark, 1864, distinguishable for more width of body and for shape of penis. Besides observations concerning some of the collected species are furnished.

  • Nomenclatural novelties for the Euro+Med flora

      Abstract: Today’s plant phylogeny more and more deals with ranks from the genus down, so changes in current taxonomy and nomenclature are frequently requested. For this reason, referring to the Euro+Med flora, we take here into account 20 taxa and recover the following forgotten nomenclatural combinations: Bidens atrosanguinea (Hook.) Regel, B. formosa (Bonato) Sch.Bip., B. sulphurea (Cav.) Sch.Bip., and B. tinctoria (Nutt.) Baill. ex Daydon. Moreover we propose the new names Agrostis linkii Banfi, Galasso & Bartolucci, Bidens selenactis Banfi, Galasso & Bartolucci, Bidens sweetiana Banfi, Galasso & Bartolucci, and the new combinations Achnatherum paradoxum (L.)   • About the presence of Crocidura suaveolens group (Soricomorpha, Soricidae)
           on Astipalaia Island (Dodecanese, Greece)

      Abstract: The presence of Crocidura sp. on Astipalaia Island was shown, for the first time, in the nineties of the twentieth century. After the re-examination of the already available specimens and the analysis of the more recent material, it emerged that this insular shrew population refers to Crocidura suaveolens group. The presence of this taxon is also reported for the neighboring island of Amorgos. The presence of Crocidura suaveolens group in the Mediterranean islands is a result of Pleistocene survivors as well as human introductions, a both morphometric and genetics investigation on these specimens is deserving of further insights.

  • Palaemon monsdamarum n. sp. (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae) from the
           late Miocene of Mondaino (Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy)

      Abstract: We report Palaemon monsdamarum n. sp. (Crustacea, Decapoda, Palaemonidae) from the tripoli of the Messinian (upper Miocene) of Mondaino (Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy). The presence of a new caridean species expands the scarce knowledge on the distribution and environmental range for the genus, usually scarcely reported in the worldwide Cenozoic fossil record. This is the first report of a carideans from the Miocene of Italy.

  • Lucanus gradivus n. sp. from Vietnam, with new records of L. fujitai
           Katsura & Giang from Vietnam and Laos (Coleoptera, Lucanidae)

      Abstract: Lucanus gradivus n.sp. from Vietnam is described. It belongs to the large of L. fortunei Saunders, 1854 species group and is closely related to L. fujitai Katsura & Giang 2002. Lucanus gradivus differs mainly through the stronger and differently denticulated mandibles, larger and more pronounced posterolateral corners of the cephalic lobes, and the aedeagus, with longer flagellum, shorter and thinner median lobe, and longer apically curved parameres.

  • Le aree prioritarie per la biodiversit√† della provincia di Novara. Una
           proposta multidisciplinare

      Abstract: Con questa ricerca sono state individuate le Aree prioritarie per la conservazione della biodiversità della provincia di Novara quale operazione di partenza al fine di disegnare, in una fase successiva, la Rete Ecologica Provinciale su basi naturalistiche. A questa operazione hanno partecipato 26 naturalisti esperti, ossia dotati di competenze personali pregresse e di adeguata conoscenza del territorio della provincia di Novara, per i seguenti 6 temi focali: (a) Flora e vegetazione, (b) Invertebrati, (c) Anfibi e Rettili, (d) Uccelli, (e) Mammiferi, (f) Ecosistemi acquatici e pesci. Agli esperti è stato chiesto di individuare i temi focali più rappresentativi per la loro disciplina e di assegnare in modo comparativo un valore naturalistico di aree diverse del territorio provinciale. La metodologia adottata, basata sull’ottenimento delle informazioni dirette da parte dei maggiori esperti presenti sul territorio, è stata integrata per porzioni del territorio poco esplorato con un’analisi in ambiente GIS sulla base di database dell’uso del suolo e delle pressioni antropiche. Questo ha permesso di cartografare le aree più importanti per la conservazione della biodiversità. La gap analysis delle Aree prioritarie con le Aree protette e con altre categorie di tutela del territorio già presenti (parchi e riserve naturali, SIC, ZPS), ha permesso di valutare l’efficacia di queste seconde per la conservazione della biodiversità. Le Aree prioritarie sono state effettivamente localizzate quasi totalmente ma non esclusivamente in Aree protette. Tuttavia, l’insieme delle Aree protette del territorio novarese escludeva porzioni significative di territori di elevato valore per la biodiversità, ora meglio definiti con questa ricerca.
