sustainability in the mobility system in Latin American cities = Dinámica

Abstract: Parking resources and services are essential regulating traffic flow in the general mobility system. A policy oriented to creation of parking spaces adapted to the dynamics of growth and change in the city is a huge opportunity to add a well-conceived and managed parking system to other intense actions of urban regeneration for development and prosperity, such as the improvement of public transport infrastructures and the rehabilitation of public space in dense and consolidated urban areas. Parking is a fundamental subsystem of the general mobility system. It represents the storage capacity that allows the management over time of the resource “space” and its availability. This management capacity is strictly contextual, and therefore an adequate parking policy must comply with specific requirements related to all the conditions of the space parking occupies and the of time it occupies space, taking into account the different types of parking and that each one has different conditions of operation, regulation and operation. Mechanical parking technologies, in which the integration of information systems can be resolved for full network connectivity of managers, operators, users, at all scales, are today simpler, more flexible, lighter, versatile and more manageable systems, than they have been throughout his long trajectory of use. The incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies, ICTs, has multiplied the versatility and exponentially the interactivity of the systems, which are today a tool capable of multiplying the performance of urban space and reducing the consumption of energy, materials and environmental impact, in the same proportion, valuable resources that modern cities need to invest in actions for social progress.Resumen

Abstract: The performing of a thorough diagnosis of the maturity degree in the development of Open Commercial Centers (OCC) in UNESCO’s World Heritage Cities in Spain allow us to present new proposals and potential lines of action with regard to energizing and optimizing them. Taking as its starting point this basic goal, this work proposes the application of a solid Evaluation Model that following an analytic logic is able to assess and analyze in depth the current situation of OCCs as well as to identify its most relevant strengths and weaknesses. The specific application of the model to UNESCO’s World Heritage cities has given the chance to present their particular features and peculiarities. From model’s application results it is possible to provide some sound recommendations with regard to improve the identified weaknesses as well as to define the basic lines of action of a Strategic Plan to Energize Commercial Activity at the City Center of Historic Cities improving their competitiveness and capacity to create economic value. This work highlights two of the most relevant problems of OCC: Funding Difficulties and Lack of representativeness. According to the results Business Improvements Districts (BID) might be an interesting public-private formula that will allow solving and speeding up OCC’s paces and internal dynamics providing a solid framework to bargain and execute private agents’ proposals.

  • Integrated project delivery, an alternative to the usual form of
construction work in Spain = Métodos colaborativos, un cambio para la
           construcción en España

    • Authors: Miguel Ángel Álvarez, Alfonso Bucero, Carlos J. Pampliega
      First page: 30
Abstract: The productivity of the construction sector in Spain is very low, as compared to other economic sectors, as with other countries in our environment. It takes us to a deep reflection on whether we are doing things right and what improvements can we introduce to increase production. These improvements must necessarily be technological and methodological, since there is a good training of the equipment both at the managerial level, as well as at the technical and in most of the labour levels, it is to exploit the full potential of new IT tools, especially Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the new methodologies that, from the industry, look for greater efficiency of the process and the elimination of all type of losses, like Lean Construction. A change of mentality, necessary to rethink the way of work in which we have been working for so many centuries, as the only possible paradigm, to replace confrontation as a way of producing construction through collaboration between all the agents involved in the work. We will speak in this article about Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), as one of the Lean methodologies that enable a profound improvement, we will see its definition, its essential components, and how it application can positively influence the construction process in Spain as it has already demonstrated in others.

  • Management of the building survey at the refurbishing of the

      First page: 37
Abstract: The more accurate is the project, the less changes appear in the work. It´s needed a full available original information for an accurate project. It is hardly possible in refurbishing works. There are hidden part of the building which cannot be analysed until they are not revealed, as a consequence it is not possible to define how to do on them. It is even harder in Heritage Historical building since a specific licence is required. In this article is shown how the building survey of the refurbishing of the Carvajal/Giron´s house in a 4* Hotel was done.

Abstract: Links between dormitory satisfaction and academic achievement, happiness, sense of belonging to space, academic progress, physical and mental well-being have been well-established. However, the relationship between greenery and degree of satisfaction among university students is poorly understood. This study was an attempt to understand whether access to greenery is associated with university students’ dormitory satisfaction. To this end, 200 students living in a dormitory at Kerman Islamic Azad University were recruited through random convenience sampling. The data were gathered through a questionnaire. The pot plants were distributed among the participants. Analysis of the data using T-test showed that students' satisfaction with the dormitory increased significantly after receiving the pot plants. The finding of the study will help landscape architects, planners and policymakers to maximize the satisfaction of the students at dormitory by providing the students with greenery.

  • Management of Entomofauna in buildings as indicator of symptoms of
pathological states.

Abstract: The presence of arthropods in buildings is a fact that accompanies us since the man began to build. The studies on entomofauna, for the most part, are directed to its characterization and quantification to counteract its presence. This work intends a different utility. It is about taking advantage of the detection of some of these beings to evaluate the possible existence of a pathological state of the property. This will not only require detection, but also the activity or activities that it develops and the different phases present. Knowing the conditions required by the different components of the entomofauna of buildings, in their different activities, it will be possible to deduce the existence of a symptom that reveals the existence of a certain pathological state of the building. Being therefore a way more of knowledge in the pathological study of the built park. Of the groups studied by entomology, in a broad sense of this science, the one that provides the most information is that of insects. This first part of the work will be dedicated to the insects of the order Psocoptera and within this order to those denominated like "lice of the books", that belong to the suborder Psocomorpha, are the genera Lepinotus, Liposcelis and Trogium.
