  • Preventing Religious Radicalism Based on Local Wisdom: Interrelation of
           Tarekat, Adat, and Local Authority in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatera,

      Abstract: ABSTRACT: The integrated relation between the sufi order of Syattariyah, the Minangkabau tradition or custom, and the local authority of Nagari Sungai Buluah, Sub-District of Batang Anai, Regency of Padang Pariaman, West Sumatera has become a local wisdom that acts as a social capital for the prevention of religious radicalism in the region. The relation is seen from three social domains, such as “bersurau kaum dan bemasjid nagari” (must have little mosque at the community ethnic level and have mosque at district or regency level); “bermamak ibadat dan bermamak adat” (must have Islamic worship leader and custom or tradition’s leader); and “bermufti nagari dan bernagari” (must obey to the Islamic law adviser in the community and must have district or regency). This article, based on the qualitative study, tries to elaborate the position and roles of sufi order, custom, and local wisdoms in preventing the Islamic radicalism in West Sumatera. The findings show that the traditional institutions, such as little mosque and mosques in the village and regency level; Islamic worship and custom leaders; sufi order of Syattariyah, and Islamic law adviser in the regency level have the critical roles in preventing the Islamic radicalism. The radical organizations, such as the LDII (Lembaga Dakwah Islam Indonesia or Indonesia Institute of Islamic Preaching) and “Salafi” (renewel of Islamic thought and movement) cannot growth develop well in Nagari Sungai Buluah, Padang Pariaman, West Sumatera.KEY WORD: Preventing; Islamic Radicalism; Interrelation of Institutions; Islamic Community; West Sumatera People. RESUME: “Mencegah Radikalisme Agama Berdasarkan Kearifan Lokal: Interelasi Tarekat, Adat, dan Otoritas Lokal di Padang Pariaman, Sumatera Barat, Indonesia”. Relasi terintegrasi antara tarekat Syattariyah, adat Minangkabau, dan pemerintahan lokal di Nagari Sungai Buluah, Kecamatan Batang Anai, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, Sumatera Barat telah menjadi kearifan lokal yang berperan sebagai modal sosial bagi pencegahan radikalisme agama di sebuah nagari. Relasi tersebut terlihat dari tiga domain sosial, seperti “bersurau kaum dan bemasjid nagari”; “bermamak ibadat dan bermamak adat”; serta “bermufti nagari dan bernagari”. Artikel ini, berdasarkan studi kualitatif, berusaha untuk mengelaborasi kedudukan dan peranan tarekat, adat, dan kearifan lokal dalam mencegah faham Islam radikal di Sumatera Barat. Hasil kajian menunjukan bahwa surau dan mesjid nagari; mamak ibadat dan mamak adat; tarekat Syattariyah; dan mufti nagari berperanan penting dalam mencegah faham Islam radikal. Organisasi radikal, seperti LDII (Lembaga Dakwah Islam Indonesia) dan faham Salafi tidak dapat tumbuh dan berkembang dengan baik di Nagari Sungai Buluah, Padang Pariaman, Sumatera Barat.KATA KUNCI: Pencegahan; Faham Islam Radikal; Interelasi Institusi; Umat Islam; Masyarakat Sumatera Barat.   About the

  • Cyber Counseling di Era Generasi Milenial

      Abstract: RESUME: Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan “cyber counseling” di era generasi milenial. Tantangan konselor di era globalisasi saat ini adalah memberikan layanan kepada generasi milenial, yang jumlahnya cukup besar dan semua serba menggunakan TIK (Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi). Permasalahan yang akan dikaji dalam penulisan ini, dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan penjelasan yang deskriptif, difokuskan pada peran konselor di era globalisasi. Hasil kajian menunjukan bahwa perkembangan TIK yang semakin pesat dapat digunakan untuk menunjang aktivitas layanan yang dilakukan oleh konselor terhadap siswa-siswi di sekolah. Oleh karena itu, konselor harus mengenali karakteristik generasi milenial, yaitu: “technology reliant” atau percaya teknologi; “image driven” atau jaga image; “multitasking” atau serba bisa; “open to change” atau terbuka pada perubahan; “confident” atau percaya diri; “team-oriented” atau berorientasi tim; “rich of information” atau kaya akan informasi; “impatient” atau tidak sabaran; serta “adaptable” atau mudah beradaptasi. Saat ini, layanan konseling dapat ditawarkan dengan menggunakan “cyber counseling”, yakni menggunakan media sosial, seperti: e-mail, whatsapp, dan videocall kepada konseli tanpa harus bertatap muka atau “face to face” dengan para siswa. Jika konselor dan konseli sudah paham akan manfaat dan pentingnya TIK dalam menunjang proses layanan bimbingan dan konseling, maka ke depannya pelaksanaan “cyber counseling” akan lebih memudahkan siswa-siswi dalam mengembangkan karakternya. Oleh karena itu, konselor diharapkan memiliki berbagai wawasan, pengetahuan, nilai, dan sikap yang dapat dijadikan referensi tepat dalam penanganan konseli dengan menggunakan TIK di sekolah. The purpose of this paper is to describe the cyber counseling in millenial generation era. The challenge of counselors in the current era of globalization is to provide services to millennial generation, which is large enough and all in all use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology). The issues to be studied in this paper, by using qualitative methods and descriptive explanations, focused on the role of counselors in the era of globalization. The results of the study show that the rapid development of ICT can be used to support the activities of services conducted by counselors to students in the school. Therefore, the counselor must recognize millenial generation characteristics, namely: technology reliant; image driven; multitasking; open to change; confident; team-oriented; rich of information; impatient; as well as adaptable. Currently, counseling services can be offered by using the cyber counseling, i.e. using social media, such as: e-mail, whatsapp, and videocall to counselee without having face to face with the students. If counselors and counselees already understand the benefits and importance of ICT in supporting the process of guidance and counseling services, then in the future, implementation of cyber counseling will be easier for students in developing the character.       Abstract: RESUME: Petempatan Kampong Ayer di Negara Brunei Darussalam telah wujud semenjak petempatan awal kerajaan kesultanan tradisi Brunei. Kampong Ayer telah menjadi pusat pemerintahan dan pentadbiran. Sultan-sultan Brunei yang terdahulu sering berpindah-pindah tempat kediaman, dan akhirnya memilih Kampong Ayer sebagai pusat pemerintahan dan pentadbiran sebelum tahun 1906. Bermula pada zaman Brunei berkerajaan sendiri, penduduk Kampong Ayer boleh membuat pilihan, sama ada mahu berpindah dari air ke darat atau terus menetap di Kampong Ayer. Artikel ini, dengan mengguna-pakai kaedah kualitatif dan penjelasan deskriptif, mahukan mengkaji pihak kerajaan Brunei Darussalam menyediakan satu skim rancangan perpindahan, yang dikenali sebagai Skim Rancangan Perpindahan Penduduk Kampong Ayer ke Darat dan kemudiannya dikenali sebagai Rancangan Perumahan Negara. Pihak kerajaan Brunei Darussalam juga telah menyediakan satu kawasan petempatan untuk mengekalkan keadaan petempatan Kampong Ayer, seperti yang dirancangkan dengan membina perkampungan yang baru dan tersusun, iaitu di Kampung Bolkiah A dan Kampong Bolkiah B. Dengan adanya penyediaan dan perancangan pihak kerajaan bagi petempatan baru di Kampong Ayer yang lebih baik dan teratur, ianya dapat menarik minat penduduk Kampong Ayer untuk terus tinggal kampung-kampung yang baru tersebut. Kampong Ayer settlement in Brunei Darussalam has been in existence since the early settlement of the Brunei Sultanate tradition. Kampong Ayer has become the center of government and administration. The former Sultans of Brunei often moved to residence, and finally chose Kampong Ayer as the center of government and administration before 1906. Beginning in the reign of Brunei itself, the inhabitants of Kampong Ayer could make a choice, whether to move from water to land or continue to settle in Kampong Ayer. This article, by using qualitative methods and descriptive explanations, wanted to study the government of Brunei Darussalam to provide a displacement scheme, known as the Kampong Ayer Population Transfer Plan to the Land and later known as the National Housing Plan. The government of Brunei Darussalam has also set up a settlement to retain Kampong Ayer settlements, as planned by constructing new and structured settlements, at Kampung Bolkiah A and Kampong Bolkiah B. With the preparation and planning of the government for the new settlement in Kampong Ayer is better and orderly, it can attract the residents of Kampong Ayer to stay in the new villages.   • Internalization of Character Education in the SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding

      Abstract: ABSTRACT: The majority of parents are always aware of children’s test results, ranks, and scores instead of supporting them to build character and to possess good behavior. They feel very disappointed if their children are not good at academic subjects. On the contrary, children’s bad attitudes do not influence parents to help children improve their moral character. This is one of indicators that they ignore their responsibility to develop moral values in children. This study tries to describe the outcomes of a research on the internalization of character education in SMPIT (Integrated Islamic Junior High School) As-Syifa Boarding School in Subang, West Java, Indonesia. The research method that was used is qualitative descriptive with data collecting technique through observation, interview, questionnaire, and documentation. The findings show that SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding School applies ten qualities of students’ character; the accomplishment of character education is collective responsibility (entire academic community in SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding School, parents, and environment); internalization process of character education is accomplished through four methods, namely: socialization, teaching and learning, habituation, and role model; and the internalization evaluation of character education in SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding School is thoroughly conducted by involving several aspects. Therefore, many aspects were analyzed and many relevant people were involved as well. The aspects evaluated are presence, regular worship, character, material, organization, personality, final achievement, and conclusion.KEY WORD: Internalization; Character Education; Integrated Islamic Boarding School; Habituation; Role Model. RESUME: “Internalisasi Pendidikan Karakter di SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding School”. Mayoritas orang tua selalu menyadari hasil tes anak-anak, peringkat, dan skor daripada mendukung mereka untuk membangun karakter dan memiliki perilaku yang baik. Mereka merasa sangat kecewa jika anak-anak mereka tidak pandai dalam mata pelajaran akademik. Sebaliknya, sikap buruk anak-anak tidak mempengaruhi orang tua untuk membantu anak-anak meningkatkan karakter moral mereka. Ini adalah salah satu indikator bahwa mereka mengabaikan tanggung jawab mereka untuk mengembangkan nilai-nilai moral pada anak-anak. Studi ini berusaha untuk mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian tentang internalisasi pendidikan karakter di SMPIT (Sekolah Menengah Pertama Islam Terpadu) As-Syifa Boarding School di Subang, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding School menerapkan sepuluh kualitas karakter siswa; pencapaian pendidikan karakter adalah tanggung jawab bersama (seluruh civitas akademika di SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding School, orang tua, dan lingkungan); proses internalisasi pendidikan karakter dilakukan melalui empat metode, yaitu: sosialisasi, pengajaran dan pembelajaran, pembiasaan, dan panutan; serta evaluasi internalisasi pendidikan karakter di SMPIT As-Syifa Boarding School dilakukan dengan melibatkan beberapa aspek. Oleh karena itu, banyak aspek dianalisis dan banyak orang yang relevan juga dilibatkan.       Abstract: RESUME: Nilai-nilai kewirausahaan dalam dunia pendidikan tidak dapat terlepas begitu saja karena, pada dasarnya, seseorang memiliki sifat yang berbeda-beda dalam setiap pilihannya. Pilihan menjadi wirausahawan adalah pilihan yang mendasar bagi setiap orang. Pengintegrasian nilai-nilai kewirausahaan, dalam konsep pendidikan multikultur, dapat dilakukan dengan cara membentuk karakter. Konsep pendidikan yang menyenangkan dan saling menghargai perbedaan akan memberikan kemudahan dalam memberikan pemahaman mengenai nilai-nilai kewirausahaan. Konsep ini diterapkan dalam rangka melihat latar belakang perbedaan budaya, yang harus dipandang sebagai satu kesatuan. Nilai-nilai kewirausahaan yang dapat ditransfer adalah jiwa disiplin, komitmen yang tinggi, jujur, kreatif dan inovatif, mandiri, serta realistis. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan penjelasan deskriptif, artikel ini mengkaji tentang bagaimana mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai kewirausahaan di sekolah dengan konsep pendidikan berbasis multikultural di Indonesia. Hasil kajian menunjukan bahwa bentuk pengintegrasian niai-nilai kewirausahaan selanjutnya dengan memberikan kebebasan pada seseorang untuk aktualisasi diri, yang pada akhirnya akan tercipta ide serta gagasan yang kreatif dan inovatif yang berdasarkan pada pilar kesuksesan berwirausaha, yaitu PAKSA, singkatan daripada “Pray, Attitude, Knowledge, Skill, and Actions” atau Berdoa, Sikap, Wawasan, Keterampilan, dan Tindakan. The values of entrepreneurship in the world of education cannot be separated away because, basically, a person has different properties in each choice. The choice of being an entrepreneur is a fundamental choice for everyone. Integration of entrepreneurial values, in the concept of multicultural education, can be done by forming the characters. The concept of a pleasant education and mutual respect for differences will provide convenience in providing an understanding of the values of entrepreneurship. This concept is applied in order to see the background of cultural differences, that must be confronted as a whole. Entrepreneurial values that can be transferred, such as discipline soul, high commitment, honest, creative and innovative, independent, and realistic. Using qualitative methods and descriptive explanations, this article examines how to integrate entrepreneurship values in schools with the concept of multicultural education in Indonesia. The results of the study show that the form of integration of entrepreneurship values further by giving people the freedom to self-actualization, that will ultimately create creative and innovative ideas and horizon based on the pillars of success in entrepreneurship, namely PAKSA: Pray, Attitude, Knowledge, Skill, and Actions.   • Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab di Pesantren Minoritas Muslim Bali

      Abstract: RESUME: Bahasa Arab merupakan bahasa utama untuk memahami Islam sebagai pondasi dalam pengajaran keagamaan. Madrasah atau sekolah Islam modern mempertahankan mata pelajaran bahasa Arab untuk membentuk pengetahuan ke-Islam-an dan pelajaran yang terkait dengannya. Di sisi lain, Bali merupakan wilayah minoritas Muslim yang menggambarkan adanya tantangan dan kondisi tertentu. Oleh karena itu, sebuah keperluan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana praktek pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Arab di lingkungan minoritas Muslim. Kajian ini, dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, dilaksanakan di Bali Bina Insani, sebuah pesantren yang didirikan di lingkungan masyarakat Hindu di Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia. Obeservasi tidak berpartisipasi dan wawancara mendalam dilaksanakan untuk mengumpulkan data melalui beberapa tahapan selama tiga tahun. Artikel ini menunjukan bahwa pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Arab membentuk pengalaman belajar untuk melatih kemampuan berbahasa. Terdapat beberapa bentuk pembelajaran, begitu juga dengan spirit untuk menguasai pemahaman keagamaan. Melalui bentuk pengajaran dan pembelajaran, santri mendapatkan pengalaman dan mempraktekan pesan-pesan keagamaan yang bersumber dari buku pelajaran. Selanjutnya, pembelajaran tidak hanya tentang membaca, tetapi juga berkaitan dengan ungkapan berkomunikasi. Artikel ini juga mendiskusikan kondisi terkini dan pengembangan pengajaran dan pembelajaran dengan kondisi minoritas Muslim di Bali. Akhirnya, sebuah rekomendasi diajukan, khususnya pembinaan peserta didik harus dilakukan dengan membuka cakrawala dan pandangan akan pentingnya mengukuhkan jati diri sebagai Muslim dalam kondisi keberagaman masyarakat di Bali.KATA KUNCI: Minoritas Muslim di Bali; Madrasah; Bahasa Arab; Spirit Belajar. ABSTRACT: “Learning on Arabic Language in the Islamic Boarding School of Balinese Muslim Minority”. Arabic as the main language to understand Islam is the foundation on religious teaching. Madrasah or Islamic modern school maintain the subject of Arabic to establish understanding on Islam and related subject. On the other hand, Bali as the Muslim minority area reflects obstacle and exceptional condition. Therefore, it is a need to explore how the practice of Arabic teaching and learning in Muslim minority environment. This study, by using the qualitative methods, was conducted in Bali Bina Insani (Balinese Human Development), an Islamic boarding school established in Hindu region society in Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia. Non-participant observation and in-depth interview were employed to collect data during cohort data collection in three years. This articles shows that Arabic language teaching and learning constructs learning experiences to formulate language skills. It was launched in many forms of learning, in addition the main spirit is to articulate religious understanding. Through the form of teaching and learning, students of Islamic boarding school accelerate experiences and practices in recognizing religious message from the source books. Moreover, the learning is not only about reading, but also expression of communication. This article discusses the recent condition and development of Arabic teaching and learning due to Muslim minority setting in Bali.   • Student Satisfaction on Learning and Teacher Quality: A Case Study in an

      Abstract: ABSTRACT: Studies related to the development of Islamic education have been the focus of public attention in recent decades. The increasing demands for educational change relevant to the needs of the community have changed the “madrasah” (modern Islamic school), both at the level of concepts, processes, functions, objectives, management of educational institutions, and educational management resources. The quality of education programs and services is an important factor in maintaining the sustainability of “madrasah” and increasing satisfaction for students. The quality of teaching, for example, is an important factor in improving student excellence and is influenced by teachers' competence and professionalism. This research is aimed to investigate students' satisfaction on learning system and teacher in an international standard “madrasah” and its relation with student learning results. This study used a survey method and involved 135 students as participants. A set of questionnaires consisting of 15 questions was used to collect the data. Using the IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) and Gap Analysis methods to analyze the data, the results showed that students had a positive response on learning and the quality of their teacher. In addition, there is a significant relationship between learning outcomes and student scores on teacher' teaching abilities. Meningkatnya tuntutan untuk perubahan pendidikan yang relevan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat telah mengubah madrasah, baik pada tingkat konsep, proses, fungsi, tujuan, manajemen lembaga pendidikan, maupun sumber daya manajemen pendidikan. Kualitas program dan pelayanan pendidikan menjadi faktor penting dalam menjaga keberlangsungan madrasah dan meningkatkan kepuasan bagi siswa. Kualitas pengajaran, contohnya, menjadi salah satu faktor penting dalam meningkatkan keunggulan siswa dan dipengaruhi oleh kompetensi dan profesionalisme guru. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada penilaian kepuasan siswa terhadap pembelajaran dan guru madrasah bertaraf internasional, serta hubungannya dengan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey dan melibatkan 135 responden dari peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah seperangkat kuesioner yang terdiri dari 15 pertanyaan. Dengan menggunakan metode IPA (Analisis Kinerja Penting) dan Analisis Gap, hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa siswa memiliki penilaian positif pada kualitas guru mereka saat mengajar. Selain itu, ada hubungan yang signifikan antara hasil belajar dan nilai siswa terhadap kemampuan guru mengajar. Hasil akhir yang sesungguhnya diharapkan dari PILKADA adalah melahirkan pemimpin yang ideal. Namun, beberapa permasalahan yang muncul dan menyebabkan masyarakat kurang berpartisipasi, diantaranya adalah: (1) persyaratan PILKADA hanya terbatas pada ketentuan normatif tentang persyaratan calon eksekutif, bukan pada ketentuan persyaratan substantif; (2) lemahnya sosialisasi dari Panitia KPU kepada mayarakat terkait ketentuan pemberian suara oleh masyarakat; (3) penyelenggara tidak memiliki pengalaman dalam kaitan dengan pekerjaan yang dihadapinya; (4) ketidakpercayaan terhadap calon Bupati/Wakil Bupati, baik ketidakpercayaan terhadap janji-janji kampanye maupun tidak tertarik dengan visi dan misi yang ditawarkan, sampai adanya ketidakyakinan masyarakat apakah ketika ia memilih akan memberikan pengaruh atau perubahan bagi masyarakat; (5) KPU tampaknya tidak peduli, baik dengan kapasitas maupun profesionalisme calon Bupati/Wakil Bupati pada saat melakukan perekrutan, dan yang biasanya dipikirkan adalah besarnya peluang keterpilihan calon Bupati/Wakil Bupati yang bersangkutan; serta (6) tingginya modus transaksi atau pemberian hadiah dari calon kepada pemilih.KATA KUNCI: Partisipasi Politik; Masyaratat Yalimo; Pemilihan Kepala Daerah; Pemimpin Ideal dan Berkualitas; Proses Demokrasi yang Sehat. ABSTRACT: “Political Participation of Society in PILKADA 2017 in Yalimo District, Papua, Indonesia”. This research is conducted as a consideration and input to the Local Government, especially KPU (General Election Commission). In this research, data analysis technique is done descriptively by using qualitative method. The results show that the main problem in PILKADA (Regional Head Elections) in Yalimo Regency, Papua, Indonesia is its result still far as expected. The real end result expected from PILKADA is to produce an ideal leader. However, some of the problems that arise and lead to less participating communities are: (1) the requirements of PILKADA are limited only to the normative provisions on the requirements of the executive candidates, not on the terms of substantive terms; (2) the lack of socialization from KPU Committees to the people related to the provision of voting by the public; (3) the organizers have no experience in connection with the work they are faced; (4) distrust of candidates for Regent /Vice Regent, either mistrust of campaign promises or not interested in the vision and mission offered, to the uncertainty of the community whether when he/she chooses to influence or change for society; (5) the KPU seems unconcerned, both with the capacity and professionalism of the candidates of Regent/Vice Regent at the time of recruitment, and what is usually thought for the Committee is the magnitude of chance for the Regent / Vice Regent candidates to be elected; and (6) the high mode of transactional or gift giving from the candidates to the voters.KEY WORD: Political Participation; Yalimo Community; Regional Head Elections; Ideal and Qualified Leaders; Healthy Democratic Process.About the Author: Siti Khikmatul Rizqi, M.Si. adalah Dosen di STISIP (Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik) Amal Ilmiah, YAPIS (Yayasan Pendidikan Islam) Wamena, Jalan Hom-hom, Wamena 99511, Kabupaten Jayawijaya, Provinsi Papua, Indonesia.       Abstract: SOSIOHUMANIKA: Jurnal Pendidikan Sains Sosial dan Kemanusiaan. This journal, with print ISSN 1979-0112, was firstly published on May 20, 2008 in the context to commemorate One Millenium of National Awakening Day in Indonesian. The SOSIOHUMANIKA journal is published twice a year i.e. every May and November. For period 2013 to 2018, the SOSIOHUMANIKA journal has been accredited by Ditjendikti Kemdikbud RI (Directorate-General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia).
